I can tell you the next West Ham manager will not be Paolo Di Canio - but he will be managing a club in the UK at the start of next season

If it anything to do with west ham then the moose is pretty spot on.

Somethings never change at STFC. Jeremy Wray showed how naive he is by announcing in advance about manager being unveiled today. I would rather chairmen not make such statements unless they are 100% certain they can deliver on the promise.

Oh for fucks sake. Give them a break. The football season isnt even over yet.

Leicester have probably asked for rediculous compo for Hamann knowing full well our fans will behave like impatient idiots.

Wray actually didn't say that though, the Adver as per usual speculated that it would be announced today. JW just said that an appointment would be swift to give them time to build a squad for next season

Excuse me? I made a valid point. JW said he expected to make an announcement today. He also said it was important a manager was in place sooner rather than later. They have been 'recruiting' since Wilson left.

I stand by my comment that JW should not have giving any timescales if they expected problems (which clearly has arisen). That does not make me an impatient idiot.

Did wray actually confirm it would be announced today? Pretty sure he said there would be a meeting tuesday and that was it...it was the adver who gaave us the false hope by printing stuff they 'understand' or 'make up' as its otherwhys known

Wray's comments probably came with plenty of IFs and BUTs that the Adver chose to exclude because "TOWN MIGHT APPOINT A MANAGER ON WEDNESDAY" won't sell papers.

If Wray had given no timescales I can guarantee you'd have been on here bleating away "Why can't Wray put a timescale on this appointment, I don't feel like a valued fan being kept in the dark like this, haven't we learned from our past mistakes boo hoo hoo etc"

... you impatient idiot.

Well clearly he wasn't expecting problems. I don't see the issue. He genuinely thought they would be able to announce the new manager today but for whatever reason it's not happened. He was doing his best to keep the fans informed. I would much rather have that than a wall of silence.

But that is the problem OST. JW as you say was keeping us in the loop, but for the last couple of days there has been a wall of silence. Like everyone else I want to see the board get it right and if that means waiting a while longer then so be it. Whether we as fans were led to believe that today was announcement day by the local media or not is irrelevant, and surely JW and the board know this, so any announment on the OS would not go a miss.

It took us 6 weeks to appoint Wilson and the initial chosen target we didn't get because compo negotiations broke down. Let's hope that if it is that that's holding it up the board have learnt from previous lessons.

Didnt promise you anything, and he doesnt owe it to you. For fucks sake we havnt got a competitive game for the best part of 3 months. Let the board get on with the job. If it takes another 2 weeks then so be it, this is not a mid season appointment.

Like a pint of guiness good things come to those who wait!

Although I think waiting another 2 weeks could be a disaster, as in not planning till after the play off final last year. We still have 9 players out of contract and need an overhaul of the squad

Players and agents will be on holibobs for a week or two. But I think you are right, if it were to go on for two weeks it would be indicative that something has gone wrong with all three candidates!

I reckon it'll be done and dusted by Monday at the latest.

If the fans really want someone good who is under contract like Hamann then they have to be prepared to wait.

Dont seem to have the patience unfortunately. More bothered about a quick appointment 3 months before the season starts than getting the right appointment.

While i fully agree with you spence Wray himself said two weeks ago they feel we were always playing catch up last season due to not knowing what league we would be in so want to get this sorted so we are not in the same position again.

We have 10 players out of contract that we need to hurry up and sort out one way or another and have to get players in quickly.I'm confident tomorow we will get some good news anyway.

Originally i wanted Di Canio(would still be happy) but for some reason i want Hamaan more as i just feel he would be in a better position to make a judgement on who we keep and who we release.

Either way if that is the shortlist(has it been confirmed?) then i am confident in any of them.

Good thing for me is that

Ive said all along Ive been delighted with the quality of the candidates (apart from the bizarre inclusion of Rix). Under Fitton we always seemed to be linked with Richard Money and Dave Penney, OK managers, but boring. You wondered whether Fitton preferred to have managers he could control?

As you say, tommorow afternoon should be Sky Sports News down the County Ground. Just dont like fans having a real go at the board when they are obviously pulling out all the stops to get this right.

Marcotti on twitter tonight is talking about Di Canio. Trying to clarify some of his views.

"He is right wing. But it's the "social right" which is far more complex than the media depict it. You may find this interesting. http://london.indymedia.org/articles/4750 Di Canio is a supporter of Casa Pound (bear in mind above pub is avowedly leftwing). Disagrees with Mussolini after 1931. "Dux" tattoo more about symbol of 'duce' than Mussolini himself.  he never denied Fascist sympathies. Just gets v. angry if you call him racist. Very interesting guy. ... his pro-Union, pro-regulation, anti-big business, pro-immigration slant shocks many on left and right..."

I do think they are difficult views for people to understand over here.

Snow job. To take just a couple of aspects -

he's "Pro-Union" but only "disagrees with Mussolini after 1931". Mussolini banned (and violently - as in torturing, rounding-up and murdering - suppressed) trade unions as soon as he came to power in the 20s.

And "anti-big business" - so what? Fascists usually are anti-"supercapitalism", insofar as they have an economic theory it's corporatist, rather than capitalist.

His autobiography's not exactly "pro-immigration" (no, I don't have the quotes to hand).

And again, those swastika-waving Lazio Ultras are not "social right", they're unreconstructed neo-Nazis.

Di Canio's a fascist, writ large. If you don't think it's relevant, fine. But don't try and whitewash it.
