Title: The radio
Post by: Cookie on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 11:59:44
I love listening to the radio. I probably spend more time with my radio than my tv or my record collection nowadays and it's not something I thought I'd be saying a few years ago. Does this mean I'm getting old?

I mostly listen to BBC 6 music and sometimes radio 2 or absolute radio 90s, does anybody else like the radio and, if so, what's the frequency teffers?

Big DJ shout out to Adam and Joe and Huey Morgan (please don't put that bint Laverne back on the radio bbc, thanks).

I tune in radio6 for adam and joe (if I'm up, normally listen to the podcast) and Jarvis Cocker's wonderfully pretentiousness show if I'm cooking my roast dinner.

Generally have radio4 on in the background.

Huey Morgan is really good.

6 Music is still my station of choice, but I think it has gone backwards a bit, in as much as it plays less new music than it did.

I listen to 6music most of the day, although i try and avoid Laverne, she plays too much obscure shit just for the sake of it, it seems. Nemone is surprisingly okay, but Radcliffe and Maconie are the top dogs for me. Oh, and Cerys matthews on a Sunday is shit.

But thanks to Kinky Tom, i'm going to try out sky.fm 80's!

Sunday mornings used to be the wonderfully entertaining domain of Russell Howard and Jon Richardson, 6music has lost the plot with Cerys.

I rely on radio much more than TV.  If I had to do without one of them, the radio would have to stay.

Mainly listen to Radio 4 & Radio 5 at home.  But also listen also to Radio 2, Radio 3 and Classic FM (usually when I'm in the car).

Very underrated show. Like the muppet babies version of Mark and Lard.

Me too. Mix of 4, 5, 6 and World Service. Yes, I really am that dull.

I normally have MTV base on - does that make me young & hip??
Being back at Event exchange means having radio 2 on all day - Jeremy Vine makes me wanna kill myself

Radio Bloke (5), 6Music and Absolute Radio for me, listen to quite a bit of Radio 4 stuff but only ever on Podcasts, which increasingly rule my life, particularly Bogus Dave's beloved Football Ramble.

I think i'm still too young for radio 2. Radio one and Planet Rock for me throughout the day. Sometimes GWR but that can get annoying!

*shudder* MTV base makes me wish for sensory impairment. I usually associate it with lobotomy patients and Americans...

So what is the generally accepted transition age for migrating from Radio 1 to Radio 2?  When I was a kid, I thought this was about 40.  But now I'm nearly 40, I think it's probably about 12.

Radio 1, until the evenings/early hours only seems to have a 10 song long playlist on repeat, usually comprising of some shit by the Black Eyed Peas, incipid 'R n B', and some 'dance by numbers' produced by some idiot with Ableton. I suppose its a step forward from every other track having 'feat. Timbaland' in the title.

I'd still ruin Fearne Cotton though

Radio1 has gone down the pan big time over the last few years!! Bring back the days of Mark and Lard!!!

I turn 30 this year and I'm finding myself tuning into Radio 2 more and more even to the point where I will sit and Listen to Jeremy Vine!!!

I think it's a case of getting older and also fed up to the back teeth of the day time Radio 1 same set list for each DJ.

I keep meaning to listen to Radio 6 more but I can't get it in my car were I listen to the radio the most.

Radio 1 in the week, Radio 5 at the weekend.

Like a bit of Absolute as well, although it went downhill when they took it over from Virgin.

Virgin party classics with Suggs on a saturday was class.

Listen on my pc - have discovered `radioplayer` ( put that in google ) so have been listening to Radio Caroline, Absolute and Planet Rock. I like Radio 6 but 5 and 4 when in the motor.

The football ramble is brilliant!!

6 music is the only station I really listen too, though I listen to radio 1 after seven, when it gets a bit decent. It's so so bad during the day though

mid to late 20s should see the emigration from radio 1 to 2.
my gripe with jeremy vine is that he does too many issues each day.one subject will just be getting interesting then it changes to another subject immediately.think his show would be better if he did 2 topics a day instead of 4.

I'm going to give Vic Morgan's late night show in the west country (is it on in Devon?) a go one night.

Mostly Radio 1 these days, although it's not very good. Usually just full of people telling me how wonderful songs are when they really are nothing special...at best.

A bit of Radio 5 on a weekend. Didn't realise Danny Baker was back on, will definitely be tuning in for that next time I get a chance.

Might have to give 6 a go. Haven't listened to it for ages but plenty on here seem to enjoy it...
