No Town boss decision today as discussions continue

SWINDON Town are no closer to naming their new manager after the club’s board spent over four hours locked in talks yesterday, discussing a three-man shortlist.

They are at least 4 hours closer numbnuts.

Hope the delay is to thrash out the deal with the new man rather than because all the shortlist have now changed their minds!

I reckon it is Hamann and the delay is due to the negotiations with Leicester about releasing him from his contract with them.

Dont think we will hear anything until tomorrow or Friday!

Surely this would have been agreed when asking Leicester for permission to speak to him??

Nah Mr L - I think they ask permission and then talk

I guess they would only talk to Leicester about compo when they established Hamman was the man they wanted.

To do it up front would be a waste of time if they then interviewed him and didn't want him

The amount of compo would be no different whether it was decided before or after would it ?  And I guess (now the season is over) the Leicester people would need to have a meeting to decide how much they want ?  This could possibly be the hold up ?

Who knows!  I reckon they would have been given a rough figure.

I reckon they agreed who the favoured candidate was yesterday, and today will be spent making an offer, negotiating the details as in salary, budget, release fee (if Hamann), make up of the backroom staff.

I expect an announcement late today or tomorrow.

I was probably just clutching at straws then. In any case I hope it's Di Canio!!

Fear not DiCanio is going to manage Bristol Rovers and I believe things need to be sorted with Leceister before we get our man. Failing that there is a disagreement about the merits of hiring Trollope

Let's face it any manager that comes here has to be ambitious so what does it matter if Di Cannio wants to manage West Ham, he needs to have success first before any team will look at him, same with Hamman he may want to eventually manage Liverpool but again he needs to be a success.

And with Burley I'm sure he'd like to get back to managing in the championship or even the premier but the same applies he needs to be successful in his next position

I'd like to see Hamman get the job, he's young, has coaching experience and has played at a lower level as well as the highest level, hopefully Leicester will not demand a fee as he wants to be a manager rather than No 2

At least Burley and Hamann have had the decency not to make it clear they regard us as a tinpot stepping stone before even taking up the job though. Kind of crass, don't you think?

Crass maybe but that's just the way Di Canio comes across I'm sure the media also probably twisted what he said slightly also.  At least he honest about his views though

For me there's a world of difference between someone who's done it all as a player, played for the best managers, kept his head down and started to learn his trade at Leicester under Sven versus someone who's never managed, not done as much as a player and already has his agent shooting his mouth off about his next job.

Didi please.

True or like I said it could just be the media twisting his comments in the interview.  I'm not against Di Canio becoming manager but i suspect the club will have more to lose appointing him.  Hamann would be my 1st choice but if Burley or Di Canio are appointed then they'll get my full support also

Looking at the interview (or to be more accurate the very poor translation of snippets of the interview - I'm reasonably sure he said his future might be at a club in a lower league, not "an inferior league" as he's quoted as saying), he's not directly quoted as saying he's looking at a managerial role. So maybe he's talking about coach/assistant somewhere.

And there are other jobs available at present in the FL as well. Bradford, Brentford and Rovers.

If Buckle's available for the right price we should be getting him in ahead of Di Canio, Hamann or pretty much any other cunt. He's quality.

At least Buckle's been there and done it, he's a game away from 2 promotions in 3 seasons and keeping them up in the one in between.

Well I think he's a good manager although some Torquay fans dont really think he's as good as other fans make out. He wouldn't be an instant success sort of manager. He'd need to build and the fans (well the majority of them) wouldn't have the patience.

While I do think he's a great up and comming manager, I do think this is our chance to appoint a manager in the same spirit as Macari/Ardiles/Hoddle.

Di Canio will boost the gates, and he will make Swindon games must watch. Too many armchair fans at Swindon who dont turn up because they dont think they'll miss anything. Well with Di Canio you will miss out, one way or the other.

Style over substance maybe, but I dont really care. Want some excitment, want to be the biggest club in the league.

I don't care about being big. I just want us to win the league or at least go up in some form or another. People will watch if we are doing well regardless of who the manager is. Crowds didn't really drop much when Wise left us in L2 last time.

My sauce is now telling me that all the present candidates have fallen through....Burley alcohol, Di Canio fascism, Rix paedophilia, Hamann gambling and drink drive, Magilton scummer....both thed Sweaties, Malpassed.....Trollope offered but turned down.

So it's back to square one.....the current thinking is that Dave Jones, despite a brush with the law, exonerated will be on the market shortly.

If thats true then in some ways it sums up modern football. No one prepared to take a risk, tied down by corporate/business do gooder bullshit.

Is there any basis to the Burley boozer stories outside the slanderous justifications given for his sacking by that c unt romanov?

Elite Agents have just tweeted that they will reveal the new Swindon managers name if they get to 1,500 followers before midnight.

Probably bollocks but everyone get following them.

Tell you what, I'll reveal the new manager's name by 11.30 if everyone sends me a tenner by then. Probably bollocks but I think everyone should send me a tenner anyway

Still so nervy about Di Canio. I so much want it to be him while at the same time I think it could be a nightmare.

Whether or not it is the best option, it has to be the sexiest.

I'm pleased but surprised the board went for the high risk option (if true). He'll be outspoken, piss off refs and he'll show us no loyalty, but it should be loads of fun!

I really hope it's not di Canio.

I really hope it is Hamann.

It's going to be John Smith.

Di Canio has the "Umphh" factor our otherwise fantastic board is missing

Appointing Di Canio would bring shame on the club, at least in my eyes.

Footballing wise, I'm still more interested in learning what his coaching staff would be. Steve Lomas could actually be a possibility, imagine that.

Yep agree Rich. Hamaan may have offered to bring in someone with little experience. Di Canio may not be as high risk depending who he brings in.

Until West Ham want him. Maybe a few months if we get a storming start and they are struggling.

Forster? As they have the same agent?

Agent to board: "It's the perfect balance. Paolo's got the pizazz, the sparkle, but lacks inferior league football knowledge. Nicky's got that in spades and knows how to score against your shower of shite at the back"

Agent to Forster: "Yeah, I know you want to move into full-time management, but take the No 2 spot for now, it'll only be for a few months before Paolo fucks off somewhere proper and then you're next in line here aren't you?"
