Title: charlie on Soccer AM
Post by: DA15red on Saturday, April 23, 2011, 10:11:40
Mentioned Poole, Bournemouth (gutted he couldn't sign) and Burnley but virtually nothing about us. Seems the circumstances of his departure have left a bad taste on both sides.

Who?

I watched it.  The cunt got egg in his hair as a plus point.

The other fella - can't remember his name (Gardiner?) - who was an Oxf*rd fan said more about Swindon than he did.

Watched the goals he got for us,he worked his balls off for us,dont want nice people in my team just quality and maybe someone who can score the odd goal :D

He is a young lad,and for a lot of matches he carried the team with his workrate,he has never knocked us has he?
Unlike most of us he saw what was coming and maybe he isn't so daft after all,i for one will remember his goals and effort, not his off field antics.

Kind of agree Leefer, however I don't think Austin went about getting his move in the right way. That left a sour taste in the mouth, plus we a long way to getting us relegated (though obviously we should have replaced him).

Compare that to the way which Cox and Parkin left us - that's the right way.

Actually Leefer, he has.

Barely mentioning us in interviews and saying how much he regrets not signing for Bournemouth is a right slap in the face!

Every supporter at every club (just about) accepts that players will come and players will go. The way we judge them is always the same, not by what they do whilst they're here, but on the way that they leave.

It doesn't matter how great a player you are, or how many goals you score, if you act like a cunt on the way out, that's how you'll be remembered.

Talking rubbish Red......Swindon wasn't on the scene when the Bournemouth deal fell through and what he said was that at the time he was gutted because he thought his pro days were gone....nothing at all to do with slagging Swindon,i could list many times and links where he has made it really clear how much Swindon meant to him..........oh and look at his record,it speaks for itself and his shoulder injury is a direct result of going in bravely on the Saints keeper in a 50/50...didn't see much of that yesterday.
Why did he act like a cunt on the way out Lumps?
Not going to argue about this chaps..........for me he was a breath of fresh air and would have him back here like a shot.

austin more than paid back what we did for him.
the rumours and bullshit were more than enough to drive him away.not to mention leaving a stagnating team for one in the division above.

alot of our fans are absolute cretins.the internet has made it even worse for abuse and rumours.abuse is nothing new though."andy king wank wank wank" chants during matches."off off off" at alan reeves when he got booked during a game.
the abuse of pook,a homegrown lad who gave his all for the club.
the list goes on and on.

fans need to look at themselves this season.their actions have not helped and are part of the problem along with the players-managers-board.
if people go to games to abuse and shout bollocks why go at all?
if it's that bad just dont go,vote with your feet.
alot of the behaviour fans think is ok at football, would see them decked if they acted that way in the street.for some reason this is ok at matches.
i'd like to see players kick the shit out of a few gob shites.fucking brave men behind a barrier shouting abuse and acting the big un.

I didn't say he did, I just outlined the rules as I understand them on players moving on and fans attitude to them.

Coxy stayed until the summer, scored the goasl to keep us up, and said all the right things in iterview when he left. Austin didn't.

Cox will get a good reception if he ever plays at the CG again. Austin I'd guess won't.

I don't suppose he'll give a fuck, but, as he's just appeared on TV in a week when his former club went bottom of the league and all but ensured relegation, and he didn't even have the sense to make the meaningless trite remarks about how sad he was to see the club in that position, I can only assume he never did, and is too thick to fake it.

Jesus, imagine paying customers having the temerity to complain when the product that they are served up is fucking garbage.

I must remember the next time I'm eating out somewhere that if the waiting staff look like they can't be arsed, the food is shit, and the manager tells me to fuck off if I complain, that it's at least partly my fault.

You have an opinion that many agree with...my question is why did he act like a cunt?...in fact he signed a contract not long before which meant we got a fucking good deal out of him moving,he didn't need to sign as it was obvious he was moving on,and could have left for almost nothing if he hadnt signed,he gave his all for the club in my view in the short time he was here and put other players to shame with his workrate,i cant think of one time when he showed us the fans or the club any disrespect and if he comes back one day he will get applause from me,not abuse.
Just because he isn't the sharpest tool in the box dosn't mean zilch to me,i prefer to remember his on field achievements, not his off field antics.
Not having a go at you Lumps, just saying how i see it,dont mean that others dont see it differently.

I'd say the article where he said he was disappointed we'd turned down bids for him and the fact he handed in a transfer request were pretty cuntish things to do.

Whatever he did for us on the pitch has been marred/damaged by his actions off it, particularly the way in which he engineered his own departure. Time might repair some of that but he's still a cunt, albeit an irrelevant cunt.

No, but come on some of it is fairly bloody OTT. That's all arriba was saying and I think he's right. You'd think Hart/Prutton/Pericard were like a combination of Satan/Col Gadaffi/Ian Huntley put together the way some people go on

Agreed - if I was a player, and some of them must read the internet garbage written,it's no surprise their heart isn't in it. How would you like people saying these things in your day job - there would soon be a sense of humour failure I am sure.

Yes I was gutted to see Austin go, but the fact is that HE wanted to leave rather than the club wanting him to leave.

The way he left was unprofessional, hardly suprising as he isn't the sharpest of people.  The so called problems in the camp he caused in the dressing room (and I heard he did the same at Burnley - maybe bullshit, but I don't know), i.e. dividing the camp, couldn't help.

That said, he worked his bollocks off for this club and scored many goals for us.

Put this all together and my thoughts are as follows:
- I welcomed his goals and his work rate for us
- I didn't like the way he left, as CA leaving was inevitable, but I definitiely wish him all the best
- I don't blame the club for him leaving, as it was CA's decision to leave
- We will continue to support the Town even if all of this crop of under achievers left
- COYR !!!!!

Not having a go at you Lumps, just saying how i see it,dont mean that others dont see it differently.

Try reading it again and point out to me where I say anything about Charlie acting like a cunt? I make a general point about what usually makes fans hate an ex-player, and what makes them have continuing respect for them.

I'm too far away to really be on top of how Austin behaved in his last month or so, but from comments on here, it seems some people felt his mind was elsewhere, and there are rumours that he pushed for the move, leaving us without a goal scorer in a relegation battle. And in interview he doesn't seem to have gone out of his way to make the sort of fan appeasing comments that a more sensible ex-player would.

I just think the bitterness of this season of shitness is inevitably going to colour the way people think about him, particularly when they've had a example (in Simon Cox) of a player in a similar position, who behaved differently with a much better outcome for the club.

And Arriba, I've never booed any Swindon player in my life. I've abused board  members, managers (well Steve Mac), referees and opposing players, but never one of our own. I just think to parcel out the blame for this season in the way you have is frankly a bit odd. Everyone (barring themselves) hates the section of our support that is unthinking, impatient, and abusive. Every club sadly has them to some extent, but their influence only grows to the extent that it has this season when what's on offer on the pitch is so fucking shoddy that the majority of the fans are left muttering to themselves and shaking their heads, rather than making some noise to drown the nutters out.

Regardless, it's not their fucking fault that we're bottom of the table. There are numerous match day threads on here from away games where people have posted how fantastic the support was throughout the 90 minutes, and you only have to look at the table to see what fucking difference that made.

If you're parcelling out responsibility for the disaster this season has become then it runs, board, management, players and a minority of the fans a very distant fourth.

As those fans also happen to be the paying customers who make the entire enterprise fucking possible I think people's anger should really be directed a bit further up the list.

Yes Sie,i take your point but the thread is headlined Charlie?....if Lumps didn't mean Charlie fair enough but as far as i am concerned i was on about Austin and no other player,if Lumps reads his own point he made then he is implying that Charlie will be remembered as a C because of the way he left the club,he has a point and i know many agree,i dont.
Just don't want Lumps keep telling me i read it wrong,i may be getting on and my English isn't great but i can read :D

As i said i take your point and lets leave it,it is old hat :D
