Title: Michael Ricketts
Post by: fittons_coaching_badge on Friday, April 1, 2011, 10:26:48
Currently on talksport.  Looking to get back into the game.

Could he lead our league 2 charge next year?

6ft plus,  target man type ......

Remember him playing for England but clearly went off the rails a little.

On 17 January 2011, Ricketts pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault after punching and headbutting his ex-girlfriend.[16] He was sentenced to a 12 month community order and fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs

Oh ...... but this wouldn't stop him playing football though?

But would probably stop us from signing him. Fitton doesn't like scumbags.

If he scored the odd goal here and there would we care???

This approach of signing nice guys has got us destined for league 2!

Next year we will have to scrap it out for large periods of games.  This tippy tappy football will have to be canned.  We will need some serious metal!

I've never understood why people still believe you have to play hoofball to escape from the basement. Lots of teams have played good football and managed it.

As to Ricketts, nope, I wouldn't give a toss about his off field antics. The problem is that Fitton would.

I don't think we played hoofball last time in league 2 and we got out (just).

Looking at his record, that statement is as dubious as his character.

No it hasn't. As much as anything else because we don't have a "signing nice guys" policy - you just made it up to back up your suggestion we should sign a scrote on the grounds that he used (many years ago) to be quite decent and may still be. An approach that led to the signing of Ruddock and many other washed-up hasbeens by us and others.

There are many and various reasons why we're going down this season, endlessly gone over in many other threads so I won't go over them here. But I'm pretty confident not once in all those endless discussions has the phrase "Not enough wife-beaters" been used.

:D

I would sincerely hope we can do a lot better than Michael-oneenglandcap-Ricketts.

Paul Sturrock's sides are the very definition of direct football, which might be best described as Stoke lite.

Sturrock didn't fancy Monkhouse...but Wilson did.

To get out of Div 4 you need to be at least fairly direct, and score a bundle from set pieces. When Sturrock won the league with Plymuff, his leading scorer was Coughlan the centre half with 11. Micky Evans the epitome of a donkey centre forward who puts it about but doesn't get too many.

Calvin Andrew  would do for us next season...

Izale Mcleoud.....will score for fun in lge2 playing in a half decent team.

Izale McLeod is a wanker.

Michael Ricketts is a useless scrote.

End of thread :D

Except Reg with Wise at the helm all season we'd have pissed the league and won it doing cartwheels, Sturrock changed it and we rather fell over the line, so I'm not covinced Sturrock's way is the only way.

And so top of League 2 at the moment are obviously some side of route one bruisers with some big lump up front......... oh ..... it appears that Chesterfield are pissing all over the rest of the division with little old Jack Lester knocking them in for fun.
