Title: DOTY Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:47:53 As many of us have agreed that this year there is no player of the year, who has been disappointment of the year.
Looking back to those heady August days a lot of fans were looking at the squad and thinking you know what, we may have lost Greer, Ward and Paynter, but that Dossevi looks some player, Cuthbert and Morrison will come good and we've got Ferry as well but we may not need him as Prutton is a class above in this league. Not forgetting a fully fit and firing Pericard, we're gonna be a force in this league! Clearly this has proved to be total bollocks. So who do you reckon has failed most spectacularly this season? I've only put in players who are still here and were at the start of the year, who have doe quite a few appearances, but feel free to add others. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Langers on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:49:35 Was Caddis so bad he got on there twice!
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: herthab on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:50:58 You've left off Danny Wilson. Unfortunately (Whatever the reasons) he has to be the biggest disappointment of the year.
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Batch on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:51:36 Ferry.
I expected: key player in midfield. He achieved: chief bench warmer. Not his fault that Prutton seemed "untouchable" despite not adding anything. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: stfctownenda on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:53:45 JPM for me, been so poor in comparison to how fantastic he was last season, not working as hard either. Amankwah wasn't far behind either, terrific last year and awful this year!
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Nemo on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:55:31 Prutton. I thought Douglas and Prutton would be the best midfield partnership in the Division.
Goes to show what I know really, doesn't it? Title: Re: DOTY Post by: PocketScience on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17:59:58 Dossevi.
I didn't even see him in that pre season friendly but everyone I spoke to (and people on here) were banging on that he was the "lower league Drogba". Think he had one decent touch/turn in the first league game and then I spent a while waiting for him to "get used to the league" before eventually realising he was just shite. I even put a bet on him being top scorer in League one! HAHAHAHAAHA! that fucking bet taunts me every time I log in to my William Hill account. Fuck this season. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 18:02:58 I knew I forgot someone. Just added him.
I have to say I was of the same opinion. 'He's going to storm the league. And Charlie at the start of the season was looking like he could hold the ball up, a partnership made in heaven' How wrong could I have been. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 18:05:12 Andrew Fitton?
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: pauld on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 18:16:02 Prutton. I thought Douglas and Prutton would be the best midfield partnership in the Division. Me too. But I knew I was an idiot so I wasn't that surprisedGoes to show what I know really, doesn't it? Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 19:51:18 Wow this is a tough choice!!
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 19:55:41 I voted for Ferry as I expected a lot from him this year and genuinely thought we'd struggle to keep hold of him.
For me something has obviously gone wrong behind-the-scenes. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Weasel on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 20:25:11 After much deliberation, I went with Douglas.
Amankwaah and JPM have been mediocre before, and them both being good last season doesn't change that for me. I don't think I've sat there in any game this season thinking Douglas was the best player on the pitch, like I used to last year. We've definitely got an abundance of worse players, just Douglas started higher up in my estimations and has therefore fallen further. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 20:25:40 Lucas, Amankwaah, Cuthbert, Rose, Sheehan, JPM, Ferry, Douglas, Prutton, Dossevi all tied first.
I expected nothing from O'Brien or Pericard this year anyway. Some of those players listed havent had as many chances as others. I'd feel harsh putting say LJF in there because when was the last time he even had a run in the team? The January signings of Benyon, Misun and the loan signing of Obika would be considered to. Oh...and the appointment of Paul Hart. Infact, the whole seasons really. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: chalkies_shorts on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 20:39:28 Of last seasons players its got to be JPM and Cuthbert for me. They both played bloody well last season but this season have been pretty crap most games. Cuthbert I really expected to kick on but has become an upgraded Ifill. JPM has revereted to the Malpas days where he was completely ineffectual.
As for this years signings, I'm struggling to think of one who has been decent. Rose and Dossevi being the shittest. Harsh comments on Hart who I personally think has done pretty well given the complete and utter fucking dross at his disposal. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: jimbob on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 21:01:08 No brainer-jpm without a doubt...would love to hear his honest opinion on this season...class last season cunt this season...maybe he has dws management syndrome?can play/manage in a winning side but when the chips are down....
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 21:15:01 Lucas, Amankwaah, Cuthbert, Rose, Sheehan, JPM, Ferry, Douglas, Prutton, Dossevi all tied first. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 21:22:20 ...if he stayed injury free and got a run of games.
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 21:30:28 Ritchie's kept him out of the side really
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: jimbob on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 21:37:03 You said O'Brien would come good this season. I'm sure of it. Indoor over 60metres maybe!how he ever got a job as a footballer is beyond my comprehension...Title: Re: DOTY Post by: jimbob on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 21:40:25 Ritchie's kept him out of the side really Ha ha ha...ur as funny as Michael mcintyreTitle: Re: DOTY Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 22:24:31 Prutton wins hands down for me...or maybe my expectations were way too high. Who knows?
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: 4D on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 23:16:40 For me it's the whole team.....or the fact they haven't gelled as a unit. There are quite a few players in our squad who came good in a decent team but have looked poor in a poor side i.e. the individual and the team are as one :(
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: redbullzeye on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:26:00 Prutton - I expected way more than the shite he's dished up
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Arriba on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:33:55 all of them have been a let down.this includes the board and sacked manager.
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:43:29 Dossevi, followed closely by Prutton, who I expected to be the goal scoring midfielder a la Alan Mclaughlin, but seems to alternate passes between our side & the opposition. Caddis I would say is the Player of the Year.
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Arriba on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:50:47 everyone should boycott the player of the year voting,or vote for the only player who did anything of any note this season(austin)
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Boeta on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:53:18 prutton has been rubbish, but given that mcgovern was absolutely mint in 09-10 and truly dire this season, he is DOTY for me
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: fuzzy on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 11:05:41 All the listed players have had periods where their game has been woeful. For me however, Dossevi is the only one I have seen who hasn't had a good game.
Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Abrahammer on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 11:07:36 Caddis I would say is the Player of the Year. I agree with that, genuinely think he has been pretty good with the exception of the odd performance at the start of the season when he was in and out the side. Assuming Austin isn’t eligible then Ritchie is the only other candidate for Player of the Season. In terms of this poll I voted Cuthbert, I thought he was the real deal but it seems only a GG type player alongside him makes him look good. JPM has been a disappointment but based on his career performance it’s not surprising he cant put 2 good seasons together, if he could he wouldn’t be in League 1. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: THE FLASH on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 11:17:13 Prutton has been piss but has improved of late and MOM at Plymouth and Oldham away.
I have voted for Dossi.........loads of effort but never going to be a striker...ever... Title: Re: DOTY Post by: walrus on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 13:23:53 It has to be Prutton or Pericard, as both arrived with relatively big reputations and both have delivered very little. It would have been interesting to see how they would have fared in last season's side (Pericard was still settling in...).
Douglas was the best player by a country mile at Bristol Rovers, and is still plugging away. I think he's had an okayish season, and if there was a POTY he'd be the only contender. I think we're running away from ourselves criticising the new signings - especially as Benyon and Misun have been injured! Remember it is not a bad squad, it's just on the bottom rung at the moment for morale and form, and I can't see that turning round. Wherever we end up, we need an overhaul. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: adje on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 17:06:27 1 Prutton-not only crap but disrupted the team by continually being chosen by DW(andPH)ahead of Ferry
2 Cuthbert-simply for the deterioration from last season's form 3 Lucas-thought we had a real class keeper last season but has been shaky. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: Trashbat? on Thursday, March 17, 2011, 17:42:40 Prutton for me, he has shown glimpses of what he can do and chipped in with a couple of goals. But he came here as a former premiership and England U21 player who once commanded a £2.5million fee, I think everyone expected a player with a bit of class and pedigree who would be an ideal partner for Douglas. Sadly its just not happened and he should of been dropped long before he had that spell out the team.
What is really annoying is its not even as if he is a middle 30's has been looking for a last pay cheque, he is 29 and should be at his peak. maybe his is an attitude problem?! Dossevi was a close second for me, cant fault him for trying but what summed him up was that first game of the season against Brighton when he got clattered then taken off at half time. Wilson said on the radio after that Dossevi was taken off for being "shell shocked" I dont think he ever shook that shell shock off. Title: Re: DOTY Post by: wheretherealredsare on Friday, March 18, 2011, 04:45:26 ...taken off for being "shell shocked" I dont think he ever shook that shell shock off.
Try saying that quickly 3 times. |
