Title: New football magazine
Post by: Caridina on Thursday, March 10, 2011, 20:56:31
A friend of mine is involved in this enterprise.  What do you think?

Here's the pitch: Edited by award-winning Guardian writer Jonathan Wilson, The Blizzard is effectively produced by a “co-operative” of football writers who, if and when the publication ever makes a profit, will share the income in proportion to their written contributions. An independent publication with no editorial line, it offers writers an opportunity to write what they want, at length if they wish. It has already attracted quite a stable of professional football writers, many of them finding the limitations of their day jobs and the pressure to limit themselves to copy determined by commercial interests or Premier League hype a bit frustrating and welcoming the opportunity to generate more leisurely, in-depth and more esoteric articles. It’s not a project driven by money: The Blizzard is more concerned with making the content available.

And what's more, you pay as much as you think its worth.....

If Jonathan Wilson is actually involved and not just having his name hijacked then it would probably be pretty decent.

The OP may be a crap copywriter but oddly enough he has sold me to have a butchers and the site doesn't look bad at all.

Well radio presenters generally don't need to write that well.

What puts me off is Marcotti. He can't be as smug in print as on radio but I'll hear his whiney attention-seeking voice as I read.

His AMERICAN sounding voice you mean, even though he gets pissed off and claims he is Italian :)

I suppose he was born there...

The only way you can completely erase this is to ask Shady REALLY NICELY to delete his post. Good luck with that.

Although from the blurb it sounds as if his article is going to tackle doping in football, which could be interesting.

Doping? I suppose an Italian who know... Actually I will download it for Wilson and Honegstein alone.

Downloaded this the other day. Judging by first two articles (One on St Pauli, the other an interview with Guus Hiddink) seems v promising.
