Title: Scott Cuthbert
Post by: michael on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 23:00:18
Saw somewhere on here that he's had a go at the supporters, is this true? What's he said?

If this is regarding the radio interview, he didn't have a go at the fans really. What he said was that he got a lot of abuse from a small minority at the end when he went over to the fans, and that it doesn't help anyone.

Too many fans think just because they pay for a ticket they can act any way they want and are immune from any retaliation.

People who give it out should be man enough to get it back.

Agreed.

However arguments between players and fans aren't helpful to anyone. Sometimes its better to leave it. Easier said than done mind.

He's been one of the worst underperformers, if he can't play without Greer holding his hand, maybe he'd be better off in Scotland again.

I was there last night, Cuthbert gestured taking off his shirt and mouthing something like "If you think you could do better" certainly looked bitterley disappointed, quite a few of them came over and clapped the fans, which was good to see.
However even my rose tinted spectacles have now misted over and in the background the Fat Lady is running thru the scales....

No and you have my sympathy

Just re-read my post. It wasn't worded well. What I meant to say is fans should take it if a player reacts in the heat of the moment after being called shit. And that it would be better if the player just walked away from it but sometimes in the heat of the moment that doesn't happen.

I am not blaming fans for giving the players stick. No doubt I'll be the same on Saturday.

One of the saddest football moments for me........bottom of the league to a team docked 10 points FFS.

Me too Flash. Its not like there is the 'excuse' of off field shenanigans leading to a transfer budget of an old opal fruit found down the back of the STFC sofa.

Its bizarre. We had a good budget, and an experienced manager with a reasonable record. And yet we fully failed to replace key players. I'm not suggesting we could know just how key they were in August. But it was totally obvious by October/November. The defence we tried to shore with Frampton, but success was limited. No idea why Misun was bought and I can see why Flint was bought as an investment, but not needed in a relagation battle. But our current front line* is the least potent I can remember. Even Cureton has a little goalscoring 'spell'. So we sign 1 striker at the 11th hour and bring in another loaner, then another loaner.

* Can't judge Benyon yet.

Sorry to spill more of the same, just needed to get it out.

Saturday - you reckon there will be anyone there?

yeah, I'll be there :)

That's the exact point though, I expect plenty of supporters could.  At least they'd show a bit of passion and fight.

To be fair, you get abuse whether you're playing football or not. That's more just to do with you being you

Had to laugh at that. Nice to see the Beeb getting the age of our players right at last.

Michael Rose's twitter last night was something along the line of, " We were by far the better team again, just still can't win. Thanks to those fans shouting stuff, really helpful that!"

Looks like it's a full blown them and us situation now, pretty difficult to feel any sympathy for Mr. Rose though.

I'd certainly like to fuckin try and do better Scotty for a £1,000 a week

Though I do kind of agree with the players on this one, no matter how fucked off I am with them and everything that has happened this season, I will still always get behind the team because yelling and ranting does fucking nothing beneficial for the team.

The players know it's not good enough or acceptable and we're only pushing players away. No wonder they don't show enough passion or fight when their own fans yell shit at them. Why the fuck would they wanna play for us, if their own fans can't get behind them when the going is tough.

And to those that want a clear-out, how are we going to attract players with the calibre of the likes of Prutton, Cuthbert and Douglas to League Two when they all leave?

Creating a "them" and "us" is certainly not in our interests. We're in this together, fans, players and staff so let's get behind them

Saying all that, the players should be big, ugly and experienced enough to deal with this and understand the concerns and frustrations of the fans and get the fuck on with it. They're professional footballers after all, they don't even get nearly enough shit as the ref..

"It's things like that, that have a bit of a negative vibe on the team and we need to cut that out."

no it's you cunts fucking picking up 4 out of 36 points that gives a negative fucking vibe!
he should have kept his mouth shut...i'm just glad this isn't on thisis (i'm too scared to check if they've offered their own take on this "piece")

I read 4 out of 40 somewhere.

Well, that's not even a multiple of three so something funny going on there.

Difficult story this. Fans should support the team during the game, but it Cuthbert thinks he and the rest deserve clapping afterwards then I can't begin to imagine what's going through his head. I don't boo our own players, but I sure as hell haven't clapped them post match for the last few games either.

Not once did i slag anybody personally last night.....at the end of the game going down the steps me and a fair few others waved them away...some with V signs.......i was sick of the sight of them...2/3rds gutless....and i hate to say it Prutton was my MOM as he did look as if he gave a shit..

Well ive tried buying a season ticket, Corp day cost me £100, travelling has set me back a tidy sum and away ticket etc etc......

I am sorry that has'nt worked..

Maybe i can go round to Roses house and flick lightly buttered pieces of kipper into his mouth as he wakes up and let him have a go on Mrs Flash......maybe that will help.....the cheeky cunt!

Shades of Cheltenham here - players shouldn't ever publically bad mouth people who have spent considerable time and money in following them no matter how much they disagree.  Fans are here long before players and will be here a darned sight longer after they have gone.

Tbh, it's probably best avoided on both sides (fans and players) but given that we're utterly fucked now, I don't suppose it makes a whole shit-load of difference now anyway so we may as well all have a good vent if we're so inclined

We need about 10 players in the summer, so it would help if some of our current players have some good things to say about our club.

Its a team game and they are not all shit. Weve got about 6 players worth saving and we need to be careful the club doesnt go into total meltdown.
