Title: 'It'll never work' the obviously doomed return of the LNT
Post by: yeo on Monday, February 28, 2011, 02:05:00
I miss the LNT's ,though i have to admit I didnt realise that I missed them till a few minutes ago. The perfect LNT needs a drunk, someone working and a student desperatly trying to finish some work.It should include drawings and whimsy.

I used to miss getting up the next afternoon and reading entire threads of late night goodness which I couldn't remember. It was like reliving the magic of drunkeness the second time round. I also miss the late night drunk msn conversations with Whits.

I'm boring now, sorry Yeo. The only reason I'm still awake is because I slept for 12 hours last night.

I'm really struggling with sleep at the moment, which is annoying the next day when I'm tired and could nap anywhere.

I wonder if its possible to survive having a 30min nap in every 2 hours. That might work for me at the moment. I'm sure there's some REM sleepy losing my religion science bollocks which says that won't work.

Thanks for starting this yeovil.

The Uberman's Sleep Schedule

Sleeping Hours
The Uberman's sleep schedule revolves around forcing yourself to rely on six twenty to thirty minute naps spread throughout the day for your daily dose of sleep. I stuck to thirty minute naps, currently having them starting roughly at 2 AM, 6 AM, 10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM, and 10 PM every day.

How & Why It Works
Over the course of a normal eight hour sleeping period, your body moves through a continuous cycle of five distinct sleep stages. Of these, stage 5 REM sleep has been found to be the part of the cycle that provides the benefits of sleep for your mind.

Essentially, the trick of the Uberman's sleep schedule is to trick your mind into entering REM sleep as soon as you drift into a sleeplike state. Unfortunately, the only real way to do this is through sleep deprivation of sorts.

Yeah, it sounded familiar to me whilst I was typing it. I'm pretty sure that you only start your proper sleep cycle a few hours into sleepy time, so I can't see how it would work.

I vote great as well, seeing as I have a knack for remembering completely pointless information from years back.

If you go to the Natural History Museum, try to go when then have the wildlife photography exhibition on.  I went in 2009 and 2010 and stayed there for hours each time.

You really didn't miss much at wembley, if I could go back in time I'd tell myself not to bother.

If I'm being fair then it was a cracking day out up until the football started, then it just went wrong.

You might be itching to get back to the cg at the moment, but you should be careful what you wish for.

I haven't been in a museum for years. Well not a proper one. The old town museum still has the crocodile which I drop in on occasionally, I find it rather comforting for some reason. Even if it did used to terrify me as a kid.

I remember going to museums as a youngster, my entire judgement of the interestingness of the place would be on how many buttons you could press to do things. Simple days.

wembley would have been great for the day out even if the footy was shite...i made the pub open early here so i could watch it but was still tough to take...

ahh well the red bulls start up again soon, even if the mls is shite and they arent even in new york at least watchin terry henry should be decent. The cosmos are coming back next year with Cantona as the general manager so that could be interesting too!

Good LNT Yeovil. Much better than my last few efforts.

Hats off to NDC, you should post more. I hope when you do get back to the hallowed arena of the county ground you aren't too disappointed with the entertainment on show.

I'm probably going to get woken up by a hyperactive three year old in a few hours so really need to try and get some sleep.

If only I knew, I could have done some drunken posting last night.

I got drunk because I'm fed-up with being skint because people keep giving me bills to pay. I thought it only appropriate to get pissed, stroppy and sulky.

But then I watched Father Ted and cheered up.

It is my belief that a traditional LNT would begin sometime after midnight and each night would have it's own new thread.

However it's now 2011, we're all a bit older with responsibilities and things (except me and Ben) so the goalposts have moved.

That makes sense. Lager or bitter?

If proper beer, something not too dark but robust enough to compliment the nice salty fried battery goodness of the little baby fish death. A nice refreshing lager is also a very acceptable option though, and I have downed a few pints of Cruz Campo whilst tucking into some whitebait tapasy action on quite a few occasions.

I'm aiming to get to bed at 3am and have a target time to wake up 6am.

Hmmmm.

I've been really struggling with sleep recently, it's bad when you start justifying really small amounts of sleep.

I generally get to about 8hours before I need to get up and decide that 7hours sleep will be enough, then its 6 hours sleep will be fine. Then 5. Then 4. Then it's 3 and I'll get what I have to do done and probably have a nap at some point (which you never do). Then you spend the entirety of the next day knackered, but then by the time it's time to go to sleep again, you've been battling through it all day and you're sort of broken through the tiredness and it's repeat as before.

I need to pester my dad for food more often, the best thing about working there was nibbling as you went through your shift. Especially on the fried stuff where it was easy to chuck a few extra in. Aubergine chips and whitebait and calamares. I used to love the croquetas too, especially the jamon ones, but I don't think he does them much any more, to be fair they were a fucking pain.

oh and chicken livers sherry paprika thyme cream yum.

I probably could but I'm not sure posting my dad's recipes on an internet forum would go down too well!

I don't ever remember making that, pretty sure it didn't go on the menu until after I left,  it might have made an appearance as a special before then. I do have some vague memories of early tasting trials of it.

Have any of you tried Les Chats yet? It's obviously more sit down and restauranty, in big contrast to the very casual nature of Los Gatos. Went round there on a Sunday January for my dad's birthday, fucking lovely. Definitely worth a go if you're fed up of the usual sit down Italian or Indian that Swindon offers quite repetitively.

My mum's been hassleing to go for lunch. My mate said it's a once a week type place rather than once a month. He might have pretensions above his standing or access to better restaurants than Swindon.

I eat out so irregularly that making a comparison between eating somewhere once a month and once a week is off my scale of experience! It's definitely not trying to be a pretentious place, just something a bit different, delicious and not too expensive.

I thought my dad was fucking mental when he said he was planning to open another place, especially in the middle of a recession. but then I thought the same when he opened Los Gatos with no restaurant experience at all. He's proved me wrong on that. Although it was fucking chaotic at the start.

I'm hungry now you cunts. I'll just drink more.
