Title: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: dphunt88 on Sunday, February 6, 2011, 19:17:04 A friend asked me yesterday who my player of the season would be if I had to vote right now. Worryingly for our current squad my first choice was Charlie Austin for his 17 goals by January and my second choice was Sean Morrison- both players that have since found pastures new.
Which left me scratching my head about who is deserving from our current squad. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I'd have to give it to Phil Smith. Always a sign that you're having a bad year when the goalkeeper gets the default vote!! So I thought I'd open it up to the good people of the TEF. Really not sure who is going to get it this season. 'Donkey of the season' would have plenty of contenders - Rose, Prutton, Dossevi, Pericard... Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: DV on Sunday, February 6, 2011, 19:20:17 I assume the TEF Pressure Group will rig it so someone like Billy Bodin or Callum Kennedy or Simon Ferry wins.
Matt Ritchie? Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: nochee on Sunday, February 6, 2011, 19:20:41 Ritchie for me. I've not seen many games as I live away but this guy stands out from the crowd. Great Attitude and work rate.

Not this season! Its a question of who shits themselves first when a cross comes in you or either keeper. Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: chalkies_shorts on Sunday, February 6, 2011, 19:31:13 I've been struggling to pick a MOM the last few weeks let alone a contender for POY - it would have been Charlie but probably now Douglie. The two most disappointing players this season after setting high standards are JPM and Cuthbert. JPM really isn't a bloke to have in a struggling team. I'd also struggle with worst new signing - Rose or Dossevi?

Worst Signing has to be Dossevi, Rose is our only constant threat (Assuming ball around 20 yards from goal) as for player of the season I would give it to Caddis as the only improving player we have at the moment. Rose is a constant threat whenever he tries to defend - that is if he is hasn't got stranded forward or sucked into the middle. It'd be fair to say that the field is clear for Benyon, Frampton, Flint or Misun to win this. Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, February 6, 2011, 21:22:51 How about Benyon? He hasn't done much wrong yet

Post by: suttonred on Monday, February 7, 2011, 14:02:37 Amount of times they have been complete crap, when they've started a game, would be more apt than sub appearances. Anyway Absolutely no one I can vote for with confidence. At a hefty push Richie.

Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Monday, February 7, 2011, 22:09:51 I feel for douglas last year a big part of his game was picking it up off the keeper or defender and switching it out wide to our wingers. Now we have a keeper who don't release quick enough(not a pop a observation) 3 out of last years back 4 now appear to have forgotten how to pass it short and our wingers have been a bit gash really. This year he has had to mainly just watch the ball go over his head and imo it's no coincidence his better performances have came when he had a outlet in caddis as a out and out winger.
Every centre midfielder we have is what i call a ball a player they all want the game to go through them they are not the type who will make bursts into the box off a hopeful knock on from pericard. If there was a possible way to get the groundstaff nominated i would actually vote for them rather than this fucking shambles at the moment. Title: Re: If you had to pick a player of the season from the current squad... Post by: Batch on Monday, February 7, 2011, 23:09:53 Even the pitch isn't as good as last year DRS. Post by: RobertT on Monday, February 7, 2011, 23:23:30 Very difficult call but probably say Douglas although Ritchie has done well & i think Frampton has steaded the ship at the back Frampton could go on to claim that sort of reputation if the most recent stint continued. 3 in his first game followed by a big gap, so we could claim he wasn't fit 7 in the next run of 4 at the turn of the year 4 in the last 4, which needs to continue. Could be claimed it was poor opposition, but we often also hear that we do better against the top teams... |
