As radio Swindon for 2nd day reported that Obika is coming in on loan from Tuesday I thought it only deserving that the guy gets his own thread.What's peoples thoughts on his potential signing?personally very happy as he's exactly what we are missing in a partner for Benyon as Obika is a big unit who holds the ball up well and brings others into play but he also knows where the goal is.The potential for them as a partnership looks good so hopefully they will fire the goals to get us up the league.

He's a proven goal scorer at this level and should add to the fire power we need.  I reckon him & Benyon could work well together but what people have to remember is that they are both relatively young lads so may take a bit of time to gel as a partnership

Yeah he's about 6'0 but and has the build of Jermaine Defoe. Seemed pretty decent when we played Yeovil home & away in 2009.

Although BBC Radio Swindon are pretty accurate with their reporting just hoping they didn't get their story from Talksport

Certainly won't be displeased if this does go through. Seems a talented lad and the Yeovil fans seemed to really rate him. With his pace he'll hopefully offer us a bit of variety up top.

Possibly being a bit over optimistic as I've not had my morning coffee yet and I'm still half asleep, but if/when another striker comes in and Pericard is fit again our squad is starting to look a bit deeper. I know a lot of them have only played well in patches, but with a bit of competition for places and if they keep working like they have in the last few games maybe all is not lost.

Not exactly plenty og goals as he only got 10 goals for them in 2 loan spells but he may be better than what we already have, time will tell.

Down here some Yeovil fans I know rate him very highly some dont, but he does know where the back of the net is and maybe in a year since he was on loan down here hes become a better all round player.

From the couple of times I saw him play I remember him as fast and not afraid to shoot from distance - he also seemed to play quite deep, getting stuck in with the midfield than bombing forward.

How can we sign him if he's had two loans already this season and only just joined Peterborough until the end of the season? What's the Ritchie Da Laet style workround on this one and why have Peterborough released him?

Just checked with a Posh fan. Ferguson didn't rate him in training so released him after one game! Gary Johnson had signed him and when he left and Fergie came in he booted Obika out.

In general yes, but every now and then you get a Danny Ward. He always gave 100% while on loan.

Going to have to hope and expect this guy to. I don't think its another Hutchinson - he has played a bit at this level so should know what to expect.

I'd love to see Pericard come good (obviously) and be the player he's capable of being; the Heskey-esque target man who holds the ball up and creates chances for the nippy players in the team (Ritchie, Benyon and maybe Obika!).

Always been reasonably impressed when I've seen him play, so this looks about as good a "young Premiership loanee" we could get without dragging up the Ward thing again.

Not a chance at the County Ground unless he scores in the first 5 minutes, everytime he misplaces a pass he gets hammered and then his game goes downhill from then.

Emergency loans don't count towards the two club rule, only standard loans do. Fuck knows what the difference is, I'd imagine only the Football League know for sure as they're the ones who made up the emergency loan system to get round the transfer window.

The reason, I think, that Tottenham recalled him from Posh to send him here is because it is with a view to a permanent move. He's 20 now and not going to be good enough for the 6 in the PL, so they're looking to get rid. See how he gets on before getting too excited but as good a signing, on paper, that we could of hoped for.

Not sure about this one. Seemed to do well at Yeovil but that was 2 years ago now and he hasn't really done much since.

I think he will be a hit. I get worried when he's playing against us.

The more I think about the way we've played in the last 3 games, the fact we've got Flint, Misun and Benyon, and might have Obika and perhaps another, is starting to make me feel very positive about Town at the moment.

I'm pretty excited by what the remainder of the season might hold. I'm feeling quietly triumphant that a proportion of our support has decided to get behind Danny (partly due to Scott and Irvine's sackings, as well as football's fickle nature) and I think perhaps the future might be better than had we sacked DW. The grass isn't always greener, they're his players and I believe Fitton's decision to stand by DW will pay dividends.

I'm starting to think the play-off hang-over and recent doom is lifting. It certainly is for me. Fucking eh.

Weren't we supposed to be bringing in a second striker during the window, but complications with the deal meant it had to be a emergency loan? So the 2 clubs already this season would have ruled out a permanent move, hence the complication.

Didn't score and was only on for 65mins but at least he's doing something to maintain a bit of match fitness - he's going to have to hit the ground running at Colchester on Saturday.
