Title: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: News Monkey on Monday, January 31, 2011, 07:00:10 Wilson's deadline day worry
DANNY Wilson has admitted the thought of reaching February 1 without a new striker on board at the County Ground has crossed his mind lately, and it has been far from pleasant. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/8821833.Wilson_s_deadline_day_worry/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Batch on Monday, January 31, 2011, 07:56:26 Danny Wilson's worry worries me
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Bennett on Monday, January 31, 2011, 08:20:17 he sounds like he's bargain shopping instead of just going for it and making sure we have someone to score goals. ARGH

Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Monday, January 31, 2011, 08:37:55 Hmmm...just the sort of headline you didn't want to see today but knew you probably would :hmmm:
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: nevillew on Monday, January 31, 2011, 08:39:11 Betting that we'll get a striker in today is in the DMR realms of wagering.
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Saxondale on Monday, January 31, 2011, 08:52:53 Right Im going out for a couple of hours and if we haven't signed 3 strikers by the time I get back then thats it, Im burning my season ticket that I don't have and having a wilson out / sack the board protest around the streets of chippenham. Then Im going to join the adver forum and scream and shout because its JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. AND MY CAPS LOCK MIGHT GET STUCK ON. AND I MIGHT BEAT THE WIFE (IF IVE EVER MANAGED TO TALK TO A WOMAN WITHOUT HER RUNNING AWAY).
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Ardiles on Monday, January 31, 2011, 08:55:55 Reading the comment about agents' fees does make me wonder whether we have a particularly hardline stance when it comes to not paying these. To an extent, I do like the idea that we may be doing our bit to divert money away from players' agents - who add no value at all to the game. They are parasites. Ultimately, we all end up paying for them. But what purpose do they really serve?
Unfortunately, unilateral action never works though. If we refuse to pay these fees while other clubs do, the playing field will be very uneven. (Think of the pitch at the Manor Ground.) I'm also disconcerted that DW seems to be getting his excuses in early. As others have said, this is simply not good enough. Failing to replace Greer and Paynter has cost us dear. The manager has had 6 months to remedy the situation, and hasn't. Add Austin to the picture, and today is pivotal. I'm watching. Excuses are not going wash this time if nothing happens. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Whits on Monday, January 31, 2011, 09:02:52 isn't this from the interview after the exeter game? i hate the need to rehash the older interviews!
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: welshred on Monday, January 31, 2011, 09:04:18 isn't this from the interview after the exeter game? i hate the need to rehash the older interviews! Yes it is. Nothing new here that we haven't all heard on Saturday. I'd imagine Wislon is sitting in his drawing room smoking a big fat cigar following a busy day of signing 4 top players on Sunday and Fitton giving him the day off. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Riddick on Monday, January 31, 2011, 09:14:44 Anyone want to bet the first signing is not a striker?
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, January 31, 2011, 09:17:17 Anyone want to bet the first signing is not a striker? I think we definately need a young promising CB. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: gingernuggets on Monday, January 31, 2011, 09:21:04 It was mentioned about half an hour ago on Talksport in their transfers bit that Benyon was on his way to us.

Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: pauld on Monday, January 31, 2011, 09:45:58 Yes it is. Nothing new here that we haven't all heard on Saturday. :D I reckon we'll announce we're after a couple of left-backs "but nothing's definite" mid-morning just to see if the level of fury and CAPSLOCK keythumping can make the Adver's server explode. Then mid-afternoon, they'll say the move's fallen through, then at around 5.20 when people are flooding GWH A&E with burst eyeballs and imploded brains and the like, there'll be a press conference with Wilson pissing himself laughing, saying "Ha, got you!" and unveiling acknowledged want-away Torres, Scholes (in a player manager role) and Coxy turning his back on the Prem to return to his spiritual homeI'd imagine Wislon is sitting in his drawing room smoking a big fat cigar following a busy day of signing 4 top players on Sunday and Fitton giving him the day off. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Ardiles on Monday, January 31, 2011, 11:13:48 That's it. I'm shutting down my browser for the rest of the day. Back on here probably at about 8pm - so hopefully a few pieces of good news to read about by then.

Too awful to think about Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: STFC-4-LIFE on Monday, January 31, 2011, 17:42:47 Sorry but Wilson and the board deserve to be absolutely slaughtered if strikers don't come in today, Loans aren't really any good and they knew weeks ago that Austin was going, it's the Greer & Paynter situation all over again and failing to replace players, I really don't fucking get it!!!
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Nemo on Monday, January 31, 2011, 17:43:40 If.

You're not paying the bills.....we put out an XI on Sat with 6 subs, that's plenty of players, we probably had a couple sitting around on their fat arses doing jack shit. What more do you want? Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Monday, January 31, 2011, 17:50:18 Agree with Nemo. This could a long evening.

You can never have too many, we've got 5 or 6....might as well stick one up front Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Ardiles on Monday, January 31, 2011, 18:37:19 You bastard. You just made me remember Antoine van der Linden.
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: pauld on Monday, January 31, 2011, 18:38:02 I really don't fucking get it!!! From the over frustrated tone of every single fucking thing you've ever posted I think we've all long since realised that you haven't been getting it :)Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:02:24 That Taylor of Exeter looked good on saturday. Maybe weve bid £200k for him?
We are going to have the best flat back 7 in the league. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:08:28 That Taylor of Exeter looked good on saturday. Maybe weve bid £200k for him? We are going to have the best flat back 7 in the league. 19 0-0 draws til the end of the season will leave us on 49.. probably relegated, if we could just notch once it'd push us to 51 and probable safety...maybe Phil Smith should be practising shooting from his kick outs. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: shady on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:10:10 At this late hour a speculative punt for Truro's Stewart Yetton is what's needed. You know it makes sense Danny.
2005– Truro City 198 (205 goals) Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: donkey on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:30:05 That Taylor of Exeter looked good on saturday. Maybe weve bid £200k for him? We are going to have the best flat back 7 in the league. How many times...Centre backs from Exeter called Taylor should always be bought. Get this done. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: shady on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:31:58 And why has no one else taken a punt on him? Hidden gem, and at just 30-50k(?) for a 25 year old, worth a punt Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:46:17 And why has no one else taken a punt on him? Because he's the John Campbell of the southTitle: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: thedarkprince on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:48:12 Because he's the John Campbell of the south Just without the Cliffordesque spin doctor behind him. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:49:54 no, that's shady

Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:51:45 Hidden gem, and at just 30-50k(?) for a 25 year old, worth a punt He'd cost a lot more than that. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Costanza on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:53:01 Hidden gem, and at just 30-50k(?) for a 25 year old, worth a punt He's not hidden, Truro have had plenty of exposure. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, January 31, 2011, 19:58:03 Clubs like Truro who think they are the bollocks and destined for the top, tend to be the hardest to do a deal with. They are desperate for the attention of League clubs courting their players and then get off on turning them down.
Clubs like Torquay who are realists tend to be the ones to do business with. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: shady on Monday, January 31, 2011, 20:01:57 He's not hidden, Truro have had plenty of exposure. And the scarcity of interest in him is staggering. Off the radar of most i'd venture because the fact he's still at Treyew Road is astonishing Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson's deadline day worry Post by: adje on Monday, January 31, 2011, 20:08:47 Perhaps we should sign Mildy-a striker for the price of a keeper.
