BURNLEY are back in the race to sign Charlie Austin, the Swindon Advertiser understands. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/8819306.Austin_back_in_Burnley_s_sights/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, January 28, 2011, 13:14:18 Looks like £1.2m from Burnley.
Fucking rubbish. Half a million short of his value. Thanks a fucking lot Charlie Austin and your agent. There are add ons. But we really didnt need a deal with add ons. Clubs were prepared to pay the cash up front now. First time Fitton and co havnt got good value for a player in my opinion. Very dissapointing. A transfer request and private deals behind the clubs back look to have cost us big time. No surely not, are you saying that Charlie Austin knew of Burnleys interest before putting in the transfer request? Thats tapping up isn't it? :hmmm: Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: welshred on Friday, January 28, 2011, 13:27:00 Sky Sports News. There are add ons. A transfer request and private deals behind the clubs back look to have cost us big time. How do you know that clubs were prepared to pay all of the cash up front? Sky Sports News is well known for shoddy journalism, especially when it comes to lower league clubs. Don't believe everything you hear, or read. OK - Fact - Ipswich had a bid accepted, and then he was allowed to go to Ipswich to have a medical and discuss terms, which is the proper way to do it. Burnley did not have an acceptable bid. But Austin has requested to talk to them. He's gone up there, had the medical, discussed terms, and then the bid has been accepted. A 100% back to front transfer from which the club has very little bargaining power. An absolute disgrace. 'Dont believe everything you hear' ? Hows about dont insult my intelligence? Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: REDBUCK on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:15:31 I agree, it's a little suspecous even more so given that Eddie Howe is no in chanrge of Burnley
Still onwards and upwards - A new era dawns tomorrow. :) Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:19:48 Burnley did not have an acceptable bid. Surely if Burnleys bid didn't match our valuation or compare with Ipswich's bid, then we could have told them in no uncertain terms to fuck off, wether Austin wanted to go there or not Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: welshred on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:21:40 Surely if Burnleys bid didn't match our valuation or compare with Ipswich's bid, then we could have told them in no uncertain terms to fuck off, wether Austin wanted to go there or not Of course we could. He wouldn't have been allowed to talk to them unless they made a new offer that the board accepted. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Nemo on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:25:17 Ah, Stfcinbmth. At the risk of being vaguely positive on this, I guess Poole are cock-a-hoop? Have no idea how their finances are but the rumoured sell on fee would probably dwarf what they got for him originally, no?

But having accepted Ipswich's offer I dont think there was any way back from there, he had to go. Even if there are add ons, we needed that money now, not in 2 years time. At a minimum we need to get 1 striker now, and then 4 new players in the summer. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Peter Venkman on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:27:37 I too heard its £1.2 million up front but with add ons that will match the Ipswich bid in total, around £500k based on goals, appearances and caps etc.
Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:30:13 No. I still thought Austin might have stayed even after the transfer request. But having accepted Ipswich's offer I dont think there was any way back from there, he had to go. Are you deluded Spencer? He was widely being acknowledged as unhappy and he requested a transfer. He had zero intention of remaining here and if he had remained here, I can't imagine... I think he'd have left for fuck all in the summer with club morale at an all time low. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: suttonred on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:37:12 Can't believe we would have accepted a smaller offer from burnley, doesn't make business sense. We would have just said no you can't talk to them they haven't met our required figure.

Though I don't know any details of how the deal was structured, it will certainly go someway towards the new ground I would imagine. Their finances are pretty good as a whole I think Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: suttonred on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:39:11 Hope they do get a new ground out of it, well deserved for their part in everything.
Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: alanmayes on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:40:03 The only club that are prepared to pay hard cash up front in one hit are Man City.
There were media reports this morning, saying that the fee with Ipswich was 1.2 mill plus add-ons. Personally,i think he's made the better choice. I think he'd have left for fuck all in the summer with club morale at an all time low. Austin staying would have ensured our safety, much like Cox staying in 08//09 did.As it stands we are in real danger of relegation without a replacement(s). Another season in League 2 would destroy the attendances. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: welshred on Friday, January 28, 2011, 15:47:19 Austin staying would have ensured our safety Not if he didn't want to be here, which he didn't. We've seen what he was like over the last few games when his heart hasn't been in it. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Friday, January 28, 2011, 16:19:04 Not if he didn't want to be here, which he didn't. We've seen what he was like over the last few games when his heart hasn't been in it. Don't know what that says about the rest of our side, but he has been by far our biggest threat all season, and the last few games.Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Phil_S on Friday, January 28, 2011, 16:42:07 Of course on the upside, assuming we can get it together enough to win enough games to reach safety we now have the time to put a squad good enough to make a real challenge for next season. Bed the new players in now, so come August they can hit the ground running

It won't be the whole ground sutton, just a little bit Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, January 28, 2011, 16:49:36 Are you deluded Spencer? He was widely being acknowledged as unhappy and he requested a transfer. He had zero intention of remaining here and if he had remained here, I can't imagine... I think he'd have left for fuck all in the summer with club morale at an all time low. Not at all. Remmember, up until saturday the only offer we had received was Hull, which was rumoured to be a derisory £600k. I think if he had still been here on tuesday then I think he would have got his head down again. Charlie is not a stubborn old man, hes a young lad, living in the moment, he would have scored the goals to keep us up. Ok he didnt score the last 2 games, but he came pretty close, they werent terrible performances (although the Yeovil game was a pretty poor effort from him). I like the transfer window, the speculation doesnt just go on and on, there is a deadline. And he wouldnt have left for fuck all in the summer because we basically had another 2 and a half years on his contract (wake up at the back). And also dont forget that whatever we are now desperate for another striker, so whatever we have received, a chunk of it has to go on another player. Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, January 28, 2011, 16:53:29 I see your thinking.
And he wouldnt have left for fuck all in the summer because we basically had another 2 and a half years on his contract (wake up at the back). :D The reason why I thought he'd go for fuck all, was if we hadn't allowed him to move, he might well have done a Cureton for the rest of the season, or had his head in the wrong place for the remainder and barely hit the net. Therefore his value would've been pretty tony I reckon and we might have even wanted rid. (In reality we could have just loaned him out with a future fee agreed I suppose.) Title: Re: Adver News: Austin back in Burnley's sights Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, January 28, 2011, 16:54:52 Not if he didn't want to be here, which he didn't. We've seen what he was like over the last few games when his heart hasn't been in it. He wouldnt have guaranteed our safety, this is sport, nothing can. But Charlie has a lot of mates and close friends who support Swindon, theres no way he would have just downed tools. Im sure the Yeovil game it was just pure distraction of what was going on. |
