Title: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: lambourn red on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:07:43 Not that it is going to affect us too much but OT has been selected as the venue for the play offs, I guess it is only fair that the Northern Monkeys get a chance to have the final close to them for a change saying that it would be ironic if it were Southampton vs Bournemouth :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Ardiles on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:10:29 It's a good move. At the risk of re-opening a discussion we've already done to death, Wembley was just too big for our game last May.
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: shady on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:20:32 Too early to predict anything but just have a gut feeling that playoffs and theatre of dreams is our destiny. Would be great way to go up if it all came to pass!
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: pauld on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:28:25 I don't think we need concern ourselves with this tbh
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: THE FLASH on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:29:20 Better than Wembley ... i bet the rip off merchants around Wembers are pissed off!
We wont be there....bet your house on that!! Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: mrverve on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:40:36 It's a good move. At the risk of re-opening a discussion we've already done to death, Wembley was just too big for our game last May. Do you mean for our players? Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: shady on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:55:46 Definitely a good move imo. It's just common sense that league 1 and 2 are unlikely to attract a crowd of over the 70000 odd that old trafford can hold. I would have said they would have gone for Arsenal if they could justify lowering capacity to 60,000 or Twickenham. which is a bastard to get to, great stadium though!
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: bassett boy on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:59:23 Do you mean for our players? Good move i know i am digging up the past, Wembley it pissed down all day and we were piss on the day fucking rip off pricesTitle: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Summerof69 on Friday, January 21, 2011, 11:59:34 Better than Wembley ... i bet the rip off merchants around Wembers are pissed off! Don't worry..they're getting the CL Final instead !! Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Melksham Red on Friday, January 21, 2011, 12:07:49 It's a good move. At the risk of re-opening a discussion we've already done to death, Wembley was just too big for our game last May. Not for Millwall is wasn't. Be it Wembley, Old Trafford, Emarites or the moon, we still would have had 25 thousand wankers who didn't really give a fuck. Make it two legs like it used to be. Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: shady on Friday, January 21, 2011, 12:09:45 Well said Melksham, sad but true, re-opening old wound and all that, but Jeez, weren't we fucking silent

Do you know how much we actually took to Wembley? I thought we sold around 30,000 in the end, not sure though! Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: shady on Friday, January 21, 2011, 13:17:14 I think he's suggesting 5,000 odd of us gave a shit, the rest....well, pathetic
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: mrverve on Friday, January 21, 2011, 13:18:49 I think he's suggesting 5,000 odd of us gave a shit, the rest....well, pathetic I understood that point, was just wondering how many we actually took, we didnt sell out did we? Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: shady on Friday, January 21, 2011, 13:28:59 Certainly didn't sell out, 30,000 or thereabouts, when I see the footage, much as it pains me, the Millwall hordes seriously outnumdered us. Can't recall such gaping empting seating areas in '93 appearance
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Ardiles on Friday, January 21, 2011, 14:02:17 I think we had 32,000 there - just a few thousand fewer than in 1993 when I think it was nearer 35,000 (and we were a division higher, trying for the Prem). If Millwall did out number us, it wasn't by all that much.
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: THE FLASH on Friday, January 21, 2011, 14:10:42 Don't worry..they're getting the CL Final instead !! Yeah...one game though... Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: mrverve on Friday, January 21, 2011, 14:20:18 I think we had 32,000 there - just a few thousand fewer than in 1993 when I think it was nearer 35,000 (and we were a division higher, trying for the Prem). If Millwall did out number us, it wasn't by all that much. Didn't Millwall take around 38,000 to 40,000? Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: suttonred on Friday, January 21, 2011, 14:24:03 Seem to remember reading we had 32500 and they had just over 37000.
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Ralphy on Friday, January 21, 2011, 14:41:08 Millwall didn't outnumber us that much to be honest. They certainly outsang us though.
MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: axs on Friday, January 21, 2011, 16:02:04 That note doesn't count as singing.
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: nochee on Friday, January 21, 2011, 16:03:02 That note doesn't count as singing. Its much better than the sound of 28000 crisp packets rustling though Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Melksham Red on Friday, January 21, 2011, 16:06:28 I understood that point, was just wondering how many we actually took, we didnt sell out did we? I doubt we'd sell out an allocation at Old Trafford either. Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: nochee on Friday, January 21, 2011, 16:24:37 I doubt we'd sell out an allocation at Old Trafford either. You never know, im sure the plastic Man Ure in Swindon fans would relish the chance to see the theatre of dreams for the first time in their lives. It wont be happening this season though. Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: oakleigh2010 on Friday, January 21, 2011, 18:12:43 I'd prefer Selhurt Park as a play-off final venue.
I think the CG was earmarked onced as the replay venue if Wolves and Aldershot were level over a two legged final. But Aldershot won 3-0 on agg without the need for a replay. Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Ralphy on Friday, January 21, 2011, 19:46:48 Selhurst Park is abit too small !
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: cheltred69 on Friday, January 21, 2011, 19:51:57 Selhurst Park is abit too small ! yes...but great memories of beating the Gills Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: Ralphy on Friday, January 21, 2011, 19:54:31 If thats your thinking, I propose all play off games are played at Prenton Park or the Valley :D
Title: Re: Play Off Finals at Old Trafford Post by: THE FLASH on Sunday, January 23, 2011, 19:27:15 Its much better than the sound of 28000 crisp packets rustling though Yeah and add the bitching.....sit down...sit down......'we' are rubbish! |
