I heard Jamie's name being splashed about before, so there is a possibility he may be coming to us, but signing tomorrow i doubt, we would of heard more by now... but i think kingy is in talks with him.... would be a very good signing if we did get him though

Cureton is a big time Charlie, who  takes the money and does little in return, just the type of player we don't want.

 We need battlers not bottlers.

Scored 50 goals in two seasons for the Gas Heads in this division though Reg.  He'd certainly be the best finisher at the club, were he to sign.

From all reports King has definitely been in contact with Cureton, remember King was the first to mention him so this rumour has some substance. Oldham were also interested but they think he may not want to go north and they're after Beckett.

When King said "I am meeting more players today and have a plan to alleviate the loss of Parkin quickly. There is something in the pipeline,"  , I think he's referring to Cureton but whether he will sign I don't know.

Could be 3 new signings tomorrow though.

6 goals in the last two seasons......had a good record in the past.

We'll only get damaged goods I suppose.....

yeah but he has just spent a season in the championship, that has to be good if he signs for us while in league 1

Hurrah!! So excited about tomorrow lunch time, even more so than usual! (lunch is the highlight of my day  :( )
Would be a shame though, if two of them are Shakes and Comyn-Platt. Although King did say 3 exciting signings! It's hardly exciting if we already knew about them!

I think you're a bit harsh Reg, his scoring record at league one level is not too bad.

11 in 34 1996/1997
13 in 47 1997/1998
28 in 54 1998/1999
23 in 51 1999/2000
28 in 48 2000/2001
16 in 42 2001/2002
9 in 15 (+ 15 sub) 2002/2003 (championship level)

I think he's not quite good enough to get a regular place in the championship which is probably why he's considering a drop down to this league but he could still score a few in league one.

He's not signed yet though and may not so we shouldn't assume he is certain to.

If tomorrow goes by without a single player signing I think I might just smoke myself into oblivion and give up on life.

However I have faith that something has to go our way soon, so I'll put the champers on ice for tomorrow night. 8)

King said that he expected both Shakes and Comyn-Platt to be here on July 1st.

I hope Cureton signs as he's got a good record at this level.

i hoping for the same thing.
We have already been told about Shakes and Platt so why announce them again.
I'm hoping it's 3 fresh faces.
Cureton, Thorpe and that defender from plymouth???

We need a ball winning central midfielder, someone who's going to get stuck in without the bookings of Gurney.

I can't see us getting Cureton and Thorpe too, one or the other but really doubt we could afford both.

I think that is sensible, no point in us being convinced he'll sign and then moaning if he doesn't, we should just wait and see.

Cureton would certainly be worth a gamble, he's struggled to settle for a few seasons now but so long as it doesn't bankrupt us I'd back his signing 100%. Capable at this level and experienced as well.

Judging by the 'exciting' remark, the other two players probably won't be Comyn-Platt and Shakes, who would likely sign on 1st July due to contracts anyway? I'm not sure. Hopefully it's going to be two others but I won't complain if it does turn out to be the Bolton lads.

ooh I'm so excited!

We should get Dean Gerken from Colchester.  He seems like a half decent 'keeper.

Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, 20:22:28
I work with a QPR fan who reckons Cureton is shite, so on that basis I fully expect him to sign tomorrow.

Hello again by the way!!!

I'm OOH! Shaun Taylor..You may remember me from such threads as..

"Is Sonic Youth really a lesbian trapped inside a man's body?"
"Reg Smeeton - Is there anything that mofo doesn't know?"
and
"Dave M Russell - Why?"

How's your summer going bum chums??

Lions - rubbish
Cricket - alright so far
Tennis - Tim WHO????? Why oh why did Andrew Murray have to be a Jock scummer????
STFC - we shall see.  Loads of players gone,  a couple of c***s, couple of good 'uns, a few non-discript ones.
Richard Whitely - RIP.  That is WAY too young. :|

Who's watchin ITV2 now??? Yes, that's ITV2 - The Lord Lucan/Loch Ness Monster channel - Everyone's heard of it but no one has actually seen it.  They are currently showing 'U2 Uncovered'.  Pretty cool.  Check it out.

Laters.

Not too bad old son.  Quite busy at the mo, lots of non footy stuff going on.  How was Glasto?

I could have sworn Weller was going to be there, I don't know what happened with that.

I caught a bit if New Order on the box with Keith Allen entering the stage on a panto horse.  I do like a panto horse, we don't see enough of them IMO.

I also saw a bit if Kassebian (spelt wrong I'm sure).  I liked the look of them  - Lot's of energy, always good to see.

We are having a fucking tropical rainstorm in Essex right now, what's happening down there?

i dunno, to me they would be exciting signings as it would mean we'd then be able to field 11 pro players...

The pantomime cow at the CG in the half time penalty shoot out, ws one of the highlights of the season.

The New Order....World In Motion was ace...watched it on the net.....don't think many in the crowd knew the words.

Pros and cons: A natural finisher, Jamie's pace and early shooting always gives defenders nightmares; his small frame means he isn't suited to playing with his back to goal.

hes seems ok and his scoring record has been good over the last 10 years, i think he could do a job for us

I'm as convinced about Cureton as I was about Igoe.  Having said that, I have absolutely no inside sources nor do I pretend to have a clue about anything.

King could be a Sam Allardyce in the making in that he reserrects has-beens careers - Mooney was going nowhere till he came here, his career took a turn for the better, he turned his backs on us and is down in the doldrums, but the way he was heading he'd have been clubless.

I'd love it if Cureton signed, as if he fails to perform we've still got 3 perfectly good players to play in that position, so he can rot in the reserves.  Seeing as it's June 30th tomorrow I'd be surprised if Shakes and Platt were announced, and to be honest a little disappointed....  Excited as I am about Shakes, we could do with 5 signings in one fell swoop to get rid of our transfer-market impotence.

Call me irrational ,but i absolutely despise cureton.I think he's a cunt.I was unsure of Roberts when he signed but he won me over, cureton will have to do a lot before i start singing his name.

I think he's a class player, very confident he's going to get the goals for us this year.

Roberts needs to win me over this season, started well, but after the accident drifted off, needs to prove himself.
