Colchester fan on that carefully leaves out the fact that we easily double their crowd every week.

Still, this lad sounds fairly encouraging, 6' 6 and quick, if he has any footballing brain on him he could be a damn good player.

Were notoriously tight with unkown players. Ranger springs to mind, that will be the decider, sounds interesting though.

I actually heard about this guy a few months back, not linking the town but from what i heard then there is a tremendous amount of potential there and he's been on the radar of many clubs for a while now. 150k does sound a lot to me, however a 100k min profit selling one promising defender and signing another could end up being an enforced bit of luck, as i'm presuming we wouldn't have pursued this had Morrison not left. I'm hoping he signs and that we've picked up a Chris Smalling so to speak.

I wonder if this scouting of a non-league player from Alfreton Town has anything to do with the fact that Danny still lives in or near Chesterfield and I believe Danny's son also plays in midfield for Alfreton Town. Maybe that is how Danny was first informed of the lad's potential. I note with some amusement that the defender Flint is coming with his agent to meet the Town officials - a non-league player with an agent?  I'm must be getting old! I'd be interested to know what factors will influence Flint when he has to make a decision. Maybe current league position? That much abused term 'potential' of the clubs? The stadia or the financial package on offer? The selling job that Danny or John Ward can do regarding their respective clubs?  I see Ward is saying Flint will be on the bus for Saturday's game if he signs - could be very persuasive to a young lad desperate to get into league football.  When's he going to decide - anyone know?

Another factor in all this is how will the signing of Flint affect the development of Evans?  I haven't seen Evans play but some reports suggest that he's also pretty useful and with Morrison moving on he may feature in some games for us and that should quicken his development. I'd welcome anyone who can stop us conceding goals like we have done this year

Colchester fans claimimg he has chosen to sign for us as we offered a 2 1/2 yr deal compared to their 18 months and for more money. Certainly sounds a good prospect.

Got some good press has this lad, and been included in England C squads which can't be bad for someone in the league below where most players come from.  They turend down a £75k bid last season from Luton, so seemed pretty keen to keep him as long as they could.

According to a Alfreton forum he has signed for us but will play for Alfreton the rest of the season. So we won't see him until the summer and have already splashed £150,00???

Hmmm  :sherlock:

Did they confrim as well he wont join till the end of the season?

Seems bizarre, surely they want him here to get his fitness levels up as quickly as possible, especially given the comment Ward at Col U made suggesting he would be in their match day squad this weekend!

The 21-year-old held talks with both clubs this week before opting for Swindon, although he could yet return to Alfreton on loan for the rest of the season.

"Aden has chosen Swindon," said Reds chairman Wayne Bradley.

"We are now in negotiations to see if we can get him back for the remainder of the season."

Official Site says:

Swindon Town have agreed a deal with Alfreton Town for the permanent transfer of Aden Flint for an undisclosed fee.

The defender has agreed terms on a two-and-a-half year contract at The County Ground.

Flint joined Alfreton in the summer of 2008 from Central Midlands League Supreme Division side Pinxton in August 2008 and has impressed during his stay at The Impact Arena.

The 21-year old has made 24 appearances for Alfreton so far this season, scoring three goals.

Good news. Now we need to get Stewart Yetton from Truro to replace Charlie.

I spoke about him 3 years ago but the idea wasnt well recieved at the time.

While I was in hospital last year I was in a bed next to the Chairman of Bridgwater Town.

He recommended a player to me that his team played recently, so I had a delve and I think this chap may be worth a punt for any league club.

I popped over to see him when they Chard Town in August, he scored 3 in an 8-0 win and was head and shoulders above the rest of the players by miles.

An astonishing record....72 league and cup goals last season for Truro City, is still only 23.

21 goals in 18 games so far this season.
72 goals in 47 starts last season.
28 goals in 27 starts the season before.

http://www.trurocityfc.co.uk/tplSoccerStats/player.php?id=17

Has scored around another 70 goals in the 3 years since then.

And is still only 25 with 212 goals in 219 games!

JJ. I have been following Truro's fortunes for a few years, oweing to an ex-flame! They have really risen through the ranks, topping Southern Premier with Salisbury in hot pursuit, so Conference South beckons. Would be great to see a Cornish side in the football league. Yetton, or the 'Yetti' as he's known would be a speculative acquisition, but certainly worth a punt. I mean, what would he cost, £50,000 max? Are you listening Danny Wilson, before someone like Torquay nab him!
