Swindon are appealing a court decision on Monday over £300k that a certain Mr Diamandis is trying to claim from the club. This initially started off back around the playoff final, and were the reason behind Fitton's bafflingly angry comments after the play-off final. Fitton said the original decision in favour of Diamond Mike was baffling and they started the appeal process immediately. Think that's all correct, I'm sure the BBC will put the interview up or something else about it shortly, but I'm going on memory a bit here. Title: Re: Guess who's back? Just to summarise roughly what he said. The comments he made after the Play-off final related to the Diamandis case. It was around this time the claim was lodged. The claim is for around £300,000. He's very angry about this. When asked about the AGM and doing co-commentary next Saturday, he said somthing like. "Well, if the decision goes against us in the court I may throw my toys out of the pram and not be around for the AGM or Rover's." Shaun did say he had a smile on his face, but it worries me. Diamandis won the initial court hearing at or about the tiome of the play off final. If you remember AF was angry then. The club appealed because the decision was plain wrong. AF said the saying the Law is an ass would be right if it went against the clb tomorrow. It wasn't the money it was the principle. He never mentioned an amount on air. My guess is that Diamandis is claiming wages / fees for when he was "General Manager" . If you remember he was boasting in the dark days about how he was giving "his services" for free. (Although we assume he never actually lost out & made money out of the club in other ways) If my guess is any where near right I'd have thought that when the takeover happened any "Fees" owing to the fat Barsteward would have had to have been declared under due dilligence. Diamandis as ever is trying to screw people for all he can. For what it's worth my take on AF's comments were that he was rightly angry, but his comments were tongue in cheek. Another reminder tho' that we have come a long way since those days. We wouldn't he talking about the club at all if those fuckwits had stayed on cos we'd have gone under. I think people just assumed it was the northern Turkish enclave as they thought he'd gone on the run to somewhere with no extradition treaty with the UK. Quite why anyone would imagine Honest Mike would need to seek such refuge is wholly beyond me. |
