I pretty much doubt that i will hear of any more exits from the current squad or, dare i imagine it, incoming of new players. So by the time i get back, desperate for a hosing down with clean water, a new liver and a jar for my pickled brain we should hopefully have enough players to field a competitve team. Not sure whether I want to watch the coverage or not I'm not gutted in the slightest... i think the continuously risiing prices and constantly increased attendance has put me off. And the lineups since 2009 haven't inspired me. In fact, i think i'm coming to hate Eavis for blindly claiming each year is better than the last, when i can't agree. Unless he means profits-wise. If the attendance drops to around the 135,000 mark i might go back. If it doesn't, i think i'll spread my wings and take in a few different festivals. Title: Re: Glastonbury. I do agree it is far to bloody busy around the main stages, which prompted us to really head off the beaten track over the past couple of years and really see sights and sounds that of the sort we hadn’t seen before. Last year though it was far too feckin hot. Too much sun = early start to avoid suffocating in your own sweat = no recovery time.In 2013 we are finally going to tepee it and maybe call it a day after that and start looking at alternatives. Next year the Exit festival Belgrade is a possibility. Anyone ever been? Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: leefer on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 18:36:42 It's not on next year is it? I must confess I did like U2 back in the day and thought last night they could have really turned it on and created something special. There were a couple of moment but it did appear a tad flat. Primal Scream on the Other Stage on the other hand looked fucking immense. They only played two songs on the highlights but both were from Screamadelica and looking fresh as they were all those years ago. Title: Re: Glastonbury. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjk3jv_tricky-with-beyonce-baby-boy-glastonbury-2011-full_music "Apparently he was asked to guest as a well known local Bristolian hip hop / trip hop legend which played to his ego (at least that was how it was allegedly sold to him) - he was asked / prepped to perform a massive attack medley with Beyonce but instead they just kept playing Baby Boy while he stood waiting for his cue - which never came. After 30 seconds of dancing like a spare part he got the hint and was pulled off stage." And it was all a bit of revenge for this: http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/theampersand/archive/2008/06/28/tricky.aspx Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 00:50:05 Laverne was clearly taking the piss and had a bit of fun by throwing it onto to Zane Lowe knowing full well he went to see the band his listeners had chosen the set for. What's he supposed to do, agreed and say Beyonce was brilliant and lender herself to the long standing tradition of glitz and glammer at Glastonbury?
Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: Benzel on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 08:51:29 Lauren laverne was going on about how great pop music and glastonbury is, asked for zane lowes opinion. he just laughed and said he went to see QOTSA He's managed to actually go up in my opinion, fair play.Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: london_red on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 08:58:30 What I don't understand is why people are so furious with him to the point of calling for him to be sacked.
He dismissed one artist's acclaimed performance in favour of another less generally popular one's, and for this musical snobbery he should lose his job. Smacks of hypocrisy a little no? Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: PocketScience on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 15:35:43 Really enjoyed my first Glastonbury! Wish I'd have been before now and that it was on next year so I can go again
Been reading a lot of people on various sites saying such and such were shite but I can honestly say there wasn't anyone I watched that I thought was complete shit. I am no U2 fan but enjoyed watching them live even in the pouring rain. I suppose this is the difference between being there and being a part of it after a few(!) drinks and sitting at home on the sofa watching it on tv. Some of the BBC coverage make acts look crapper than they were aswell as it doesn't really capture the energy/atmosphere at the time. E.g I watched The Streets instead of Beyonce and it went a bit mental at times, someone set off a flare inside the tent/birds getting their tits out on the big screen/general carnage/etc but watching it on the BBC site it looks pretty poo and virtually none of the best bits are shown. Watched far too many acts to remember/mention but some of my favs were: Biffy Clyro, Plan B, The Streets, Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Also stumbled across SL2 playing old skool hardcore anthems at about 3-4am one night which was epic Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 16:02:08 2013 registration now open. I cannot wait, I know it’s all a bit commercial and contains too many Tarquins and Chelseas but at the end of the day I haven't come across anything that can match it for sheer diversity of acts and general mayhem. I should be to old to know better but it doesn’t seem to lose its appeal except the camping bit but we have already decided to go the Tepee route next time for that added level of comfort. Exit festival in Belgrade is next years favourite as a filler. Title: Re: Glastonbury. Saying that, I just found the online highlights and they show a bit more than what they did the other day, 16 mins in it captures it quite well: http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/festivals/glastonbury/2011/artists/streets/ (http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/festivals/glastonbury/2011/artists/streets/) Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: PocketScience on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 16:57:39 2013 registration now open. Do you have to re-register each time? Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 17:36:47 It depends, when you registered there was an option to keep your records on file for a few years. I can't find the link right now but on the See Tickets site you can check how long you are registered for.

I'm clinging to the hope that The Rolling Stones play this year, now that would be class. Title: Re: Glastonbury. Post by: Jimmy Glass is an Alien on Monday, October 8, 2012, 07:11:28 Oasis, meh. Agreed, I saw Oasis in 2004 at Glasto (I think) and they just weren't up to it. Don't get me wrong they're a great band but maybe weren't on it that day. Title: Re: Glastonbury.
