Title: FA Cup Post by: stfcinbmth on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:01:22 Lets try and lighten the mood a bit. Quite a few shocks today in the cup especially with Stevenage currently 2-0 against Newcastle
Norwich v Orient Saints v Blackpool Sunderland v Notts County Reading v West Brom Burton Albion v Boro Bristol City v Sheff Weds Brighton v Portsmouth All wins for the lower league sides, which I whole heartedly approve of Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: DV on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:06:07 Pardew getting sacked in the morning.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Batch on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:09:17 Imagine losing to Stevenage in the cup!

Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Batch on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:24:57 3-1, 1 minute to go.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Batch on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:26:31 And they're gone. Serves them right for playing reserves.
Cheer up Alan Pardew, oh what can it mean.... Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Benzel on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:27:36 I wonder if this feels like a win to Stevenage.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: stfcinbmth on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 19:28:18 Brilliant, well done Stevenage
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Bennett on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 20:05:15 i think leeds will be asking is arsharvin can play all 90 minutes against next at elland road. he was fucking awful
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Benzel on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 20:06:50 Check this out!! http://yfrog.com/n27jxz
Stevenage fan lamps one of his own players apparently because he refused to give him his shirt. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Processed Beats on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 20:08:15 Newcaslte, Sunderland and Middlesbrough all got beat by lower league opposition today. Interesting.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 20:49:47 on a separate note, are they really thinking about scrapping replays?
In the 90s all the FA Cups greatest games were replays Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: ghanimah on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 21:31:08 Check this out!! http://yfrog.com/n27jxz Stevenage fan lamps one of his own players apparently because he refused to give him his shirt. Then he immediately runs away - what a tough chap! Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Benzel on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 21:58:13 Then he immediately runs away - what a tough chap! Some peeps are now saying it was a Geordie as the direction he ran was towards the away end... But he does have a red and white scarf. Either way, what a wanker. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: alanmayes on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 23:16:45 I know this amused SIppo in another thread, but thought it more appropriate to post Holloway's
after match quotes here. Quality.... "It's an unbelievable turnaround to have their fans singing 'Premier League, you're having a laugh' at us," he added. "Well I am having a laugh, I am loving every minute of it because my team has earned the right to be there. "I don't think they should be quite so disrespectful, maybe they're a little bit jealous of the fact a little club like Blackpool can do it and Southampton have fallen from grace. But I'm sure they'll be back." Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 11:56:58 He is a one man media circus.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Nemo on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 11:58:16 I did think that the Radio going on about Southampton beating Blackpool as a "historic cup upset" must hurt Southampton more than Blackpool.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 12:00:42 I did think that the Radio going on about Southampton beating Blackpool as a "historic cup upset" must hurt Southampton more than Blackpool. That is quite a put down! Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 12:02:54 The game was essentially Southampton reserves vs Blackpool reserves wasnt it?
Ive stuck up for the cup for years now. But im losing interest now. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 12:08:38 Its not disrespectful, its just a brain-dead boring chant that all sets of fans sing up and down the country.

But im losing interest now. I've lost interest....the nail firmly tapped in the coffin, if not fully driven down, when the FA allowed ManUre to opt out and go and play in Bladder's Mickey Mouse tournament. The fact we've been terminally shit for years hasn't helped especially as we had a decent record for a club of our status....losing twice to Conference sides on the short watch of Andrew Fitton, also hasn't helped. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 12:25:36 I've lost interest....the nail firmly tapped in the coffin, if not fully driven down, when the FA allowed ManUre to opt out and go and play in Bladder's Mickey Mouse tournament. I think a lot of League 1 clubs are now in the FA Cup twighlight zone. In that we dont really need the money of the bigger gates, but no chance of winning it. Its a waste of time. Honestly, the JPT is more of a priority now. Even the players dont seem interested in the big ties it could produce. I love Charlie Austin, but when he said straight after the Crawley 1st game on TV that it was a game 'we didnt need' I thought that said a lot. After all, we were out of the other 2 cups. Its sad to see the players want as few games as possible. It was a hard tie, a draw was a good result and we should have been grateful for a replay. As I said before I didnt go to the replay because Im sick of the club messing around with playing in our club colours, the red kit. Better Championship teams do still have a chance of winning, as proven by Cardiff's FA Cup final appearance against Pompey, and for them there should still be a real attraction. If we can get promoted and get half way up Championship standard I might get some interest back. It would have been interesting to see what sort of crowd a game v Derby on a Sat afternoon would have got, but for Crawley it's been switched to the Monday night graveyard slot. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Nemo on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 12:34:03 I like the FA Cup, but don't quite get the point of having a League Cup as well. Scrap the League Cup, up the Prize Money for the FA Cup and give it the 4th Champions League spot and then we'll see how seriously everyone takes it. I don't want to see it turn into the Copa del Ray in Spain where literally nobody cares.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 12:46:14 It would have been interesting to see what sort of crowd a game v Derby on a Sat afternoon would have got, but for Crawley it's been switched to the Monday night graveyard slot. I was well up for it, but there seemed to be quite a few on here who thought it was a bit sad that anyone was excited about it. I think Derby would have brought 2500+, which would have seen a crowd of 8500? Nemo, as Reg said all the damage was done at the turn of the century. Cast your mind back to 1999, one semi final was the Arsenal Man United, which went to a replay at Villa Park. And this game, the replay was probably THE most exciting club game I have ever seen on the TV as a nuetral. Bar none. Watched a replay of it the other day, and it still made my palms sweat, the noise of the crowd is incredible. But that season Man Yoo won the treble, which I think took a bit away from the cup, because I dont think anyone thought that would ever happen, so the holy grail of a treble was gone. Then to add insult to injury Man United didnt defend the Cup to play in a farce in Brazil. Bad timing, because it was the end of the old Wembley, the final had a new home and it didnt feel the same. And just the turning of the new century as well, i know it sounds stupid, but it just felt different. As you say, the Champions League was the key. The FA had 1 chance to save their own competition. When the Champions League went to 2 clubs from the big leagues in 1998 (?) they could have given 1 place to the FA Cup winners. It made perfect sense as well, because then most of the time, both English representatives would have been Champions in the Champions League. I do think Uefa blocked that one a bit though. Very sad. i hate football and being a bitter individual Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Langers on Monday, January 10, 2011, 20:59:33 Derby missed a penalty earlier aswell.
It was a dive, there have been a few around this weekend. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: pauld on Monday, January 10, 2011, 21:34:22 Listening to this on the radio I've realised there is something as annoying as drums at football - cowbells. I mean, WTF?

Swindon fans may be a bit crap, but at least we don't bring musical instruments. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Nemo on Monday, January 10, 2011, 21:54:26 Injury time winner. It really takes a graceless club to make me feel disappointed that a Non-League team are beating a Championship team.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Bennett on Monday, January 10, 2011, 21:55:51 pitch invasion during the game. surely that means a hefty fine for crawley

But it makes me feel a bit better that we weren't the only league team done by the cunts. Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Craigo276 on Monday, January 10, 2011, 22:09:42 Nice to see Steve Evans with his "genuine" Rolex out again
Clown Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Oaksey Moonraker on Monday, January 10, 2011, 23:03:23 Nice to see Steve Evans with his "genuine" Rolex out again Clown Probably got it for cash Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: pauld on Monday, January 10, 2011, 23:35:07 Cunts indeed. Quite. Bit like the relief when Histon beat Leeds that now everyone would forget about us and go on about them beating Derby. The major difference being I wanted Histon to win against Leeds, the only thing I wanted Crawley to do was have Evans spontaneously combust pitchside, leaving just a melted heap of plastic where once there was an imo RolexBut it makes me feel a bit better that we weren't the only league team done by the cunts. I feel very tempted because I despise the horrible man.
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: london_red on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 10:37:43 They really are a wholly unlikeable club. Manager's a cunt, fans are cunts. Got a very winnable tie in the next round as well, sure they'll be all over ESPN again in a few weeks...
Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: pauld on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 10:55:43 I'm taking some solace from the prospect of them making it to the 5th round and wholly derailing "Project Promotion", thus leaving the way clear for Wimbledon to regain the League place the scumbags of MK stole from them.

That would make me very happy Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: pumbaa on Friday, January 14, 2011, 08:30:30 True Story. I pitched up in the office just after 0700 as normal, switch on my laptop and bimble off to get my first cuppa of the day.
To my horror, I spot a strange mug sat in the kitchen area. Fuck me, its a Crawley Town mug.....the thought immediately crosses my mind as to which deluded idiot working in Bristol would have a Crawley Town mug? Seeing it awoke a urge to smash it (not in the same way as seeing an Oxford mug would, but you get my drift), but knowing how I would feel if a rival fan were to smash my prized STFC mug, and more importantly, denying me of ability to have a morning cuppa, I resisted said urge. So given the owner was nowhere in sight, and I had little inclination to discover who it was (primarily in order to avoid having the piss taken out of me), I hid the mug in the cupboard next to the waste bin and legged it with my brew. Petty I know, but I feel so much better now...... Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Friday, January 14, 2011, 09:45:11 Should have pissed in it

Opportunity missed!!! Title: Re: FA Cup Post by: Ardiles on Friday, January 14, 2011, 11:26:01 Story made me laugh. I only discovered that a new member of our team grew up in Oxford because of the look of horror on her face when she first saw my Swindon mug.
