Title: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 16:37:15 As an outsider this seems pretty harsh. Inconsistant form DDDWLWLWL but that's not THAT bad, is it?

It was a strange appointment at the time i thought considering what he did, or more to point didn't do, at the Sheff Wed.
Title: Re: Brian Laws sacked Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 16:51:13 What has he ever done? Bad appointment in the first place.
Title: Re: Brian Laws sacked Post by: Abrahammer on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 16:59:36 What has he ever done? Bad appointment in the first place. Did a decent job at Scunthorpe which got him his "big" move to Wednesday. Title: Re: Brian Laws sacked Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 17:04:55 The move up from mucking up Wednesday to the Premier League was baffling... But the justification for his sacking would mean half of the Football League would be looking for a manager right now.
Title: Re: Brian Laws sacked Post by: bigbobjoylove on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 17:33:30 Fergie Jnr sacked at Preston aswell by the looks of it.
Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 17:34:51 That one is understandable.
With the transfer window about to open I imagine they will be making appointments sooner rather than later. Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: bigbobjoylove on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 17:38:27 Wonder if there would have been any interest in Wilson if we were higher in the table? Mickey Adams linked with the Sheffield United job and all that.
Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: reeves4england on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 18:13:44 I think at the start of the season Burnley will have looked at the league and thought they could go for top two, and play-offs will have been a minimum expectation. At the moment they're not far off, but perhaps they thought it's now or never given that the transfer window is about to open? I think it is a bit harsh, but I can kind of understand it.
As for Ferguson, it was coming. Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 18:18:15 Pretty much I think. If you're not going to give your manager until the end of the season then you're probably better off making the push now than you are a week into february.
Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 18:57:33 Andy Scott is talking to Sheffield United apparently.
Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: Panda Paws on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 19:00:05 Phil Brown to Burnley is done and dusted apparently.
This could be the beginning of the end for PNE's recent revival. Almost nailed on for relegation, massive money problems and a real lack of quality in the squad. Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: Summerof69 on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 20:21:08 Preston will not be getting any more Man U players on loan any time soon then.
Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Thursday, December 30, 2010, 08:14:30 What has he ever done? Bad appointment in the first place. As far as I can tell, they based his appointment on the fact that he started his career with Burnley 30-odd years ago and not much else ::) Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: Lumps on Thursday, December 30, 2010, 14:10:17 As far as I can tell, they based his appointment on the fact that he started his career with Burnley 30-odd years ago and not much else ::) Actually they've always claimed to have based it on an algorithm that calculated points earned in comparison to resources available for a range of managers that they were looking at. Laws came out well on top supposedly. Bearing in mind he did well with Scunny and kept the Wendies afloat when they were a complete basket case, that's probably fair enough. Quote "I have to hope the fans will become supporters because we need support. We are not deliberately losing games." Hodgson must be close to the push now, provided they can afford it. And telling fans to be become supporters isn't the best way to placate the fan base. Anywho, point I am trying to get across is even the so called "best fans" (Liverpool, Newcastle) are in fact just the same as our own. Cheer when we are winning or if things are largely going right, boo the team/manager when the shit hits the fan and performance don't match expectation. Title: Re: Brian Laws & Darren Ferguson sacked Post by: tans on Thursday, December 30, 2010, 14:18:04 Micky Adams to Sheff Utd, been offered the job subject to compensation

Almost nailed on for relegation, massive money problems and a real lack of quality in the squad. And to cap it all, 'little' Blackpool from up the road - who Preston have looked down on for years - are comfortably top half in the Premiership. Not a happy time for Preston fans.
