A bit strange, they are in a decent enough position in the league.  It was a strange appointment at the time i thought considering what he did, or more to point didn't do, at the Sheff Wed.

What has he ever done? Bad appointment in the first place.

Did a decent job at Scunthorpe which got him his "big" move to Wednesday.

The move up from mucking up Wednesday to the Premier League was baffling... But the justification for his sacking would mean half of the Football League would be looking for a manager right now.

Fergie Jnr sacked at Preston aswell by the looks of it.

That one is understandable.

With the transfer window about to open I imagine they will be making appointments sooner rather than later.

Wonder if there would have been any interest in Wilson if we were higher in the table? Mickey Adams linked with the Sheffield United job and all that.

I think at the start of the season Burnley will have looked at the league and thought they could go for top two, and play-offs will have been a minimum expectation. At the moment they're not far off, but perhaps they thought it's now or never given that the transfer window is about to open? I think it is a bit harsh, but I can kind of understand it.

As for Ferguson, it was coming.

Pretty much I think. If you're not going to give your manager until the end of the season then you're probably better off making the push now than you are a week into february.

Actually they've always claimed to have based it on an algorithm that calculated points earned in comparison to resources available for a range of managers that they were looking at. Laws came out well on top supposedly. Bearing in mind he did well with Scunny and kept the Wendies afloat when they were a complete basket case, that's probably fair enough.

Hodgson must be close to the push now, provided they can afford it. And telling fans to be become supporters isn't the best way to placate the fan base.

Anywho, point I am trying to get across is even the so called "best fans" (Liverpool, Newcastle) are in fact just the same as our own. Cheer when we are winning or if things are largely going right, boo the team/manager when the shit hits the fan and performance don't match expectation.

And to cap it all, 'little' Blackpool from up the road - who Preston have looked down on for years - are comfortably top half in the Premiership.  Not a happy time for Preston fans.
