Surely the conditions aren't as bad as they were for Crawley?

Yes they are, and now the ice is covered in a few inches of snow, and it's fucking cold.

...and don't call me Shirley.

I officially hate snow and I officially hate Saturdays when football has been called off at the CG.  Load of shite.

Totally agree, my whole day's plans have been ruined by the stupid weather. I don't understand how anyone likes it.  It looks initially, but that's it!  Also means another game to squeeze in on a Tuesday night somewhere and let's be honest our record on a Tuesday night this season is pretty appalling!

I don't mind too much. It gives me a day to crank up my FM2006 and play without a care. That, Grand Theft Auto and some other games. I haven't had a day of games for ages.

It's a bit annoying but let's be honest they didn't really have much choice. We haven't played since 7th December. That's pretty crazy.

It's not that cold out actually, just been for a walk round Coate and it's fucking lovely.
Apart from the people sledging down the hill I probably saw about 10 people the whole way round, bliss.

No football and hardly any racing, what a sack of shite Saturday, can't even look forward to the cricket later.

Not that bothered tbh. The weather down here is bad, and they're forecasting more snow. Wasn't relishing the drive to Swindon. Saved myself a few quid too.

Exeter up to a point of the PO's....scoring goals for fun....we've not got Douglas.

Jamie fucking Cureton on fire....can we cause an upset and maybe nick a point?

Jamie Cureton's form is okay, it's hardly "on fire" though Reg. If he's on fire then Charlie Austin can only be indentified by his dental records.

Exeter City are only one point off the play-offs yet a MASSIVE five points ahead of Swindon having played one extra game.

Yes, Douglas is missing but your doom mongering is the stuff of the national tabloids!

 :)

Maybe our shitness hasn't reached you up in Newcastle yet mate. Sorry but Reg is right a draw on Boxing day would be an upset.

Pools panel verdict Swindon v Tranmere - Away win.

7 in the last 8 league games for Cureton is somewhat better than Charlie's 6 in the last 8 league games...

I'm just trying to introduce a sense of reality....if we get a point at Exeter it will be an impressive result....

How is that "somewhat better"? It's one brilliant save, the width of a post, or one slip by a defender away from being an identical record.

Reg, you're right in that Exeter seem to be doing rather better than us at the moment, and I'd take a draw on Boxing Day. But Rich is also right - they're only 5 points ahead of us having played an extra game, so they're hardly storming the division.

Title: Re: Swindon vs Tranmere - MATCH POSTPONED
Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, December 18, 2010, 17:43:50
Sense of reality? You don't need to say anything else other than...

"We are currently mediocre and frustratingly inconsistant, we'll be lucky to get a point at this rate."

That'll do because we all know we're poor due to constant discussions on the subject post-Crawley and before that!

Looking at Exeter's form is pointless because we'll alway find ways of writing ourselves off every possible fixture in this division.

Peterborough: Winning games and scoring goals
Bournemouth: Having a great season
Charlton: No chance plus it's on TV
Rochdale: Sort of games we should win but never do

etc etc etc

It's probably why we alway over-celebrate wins because we focus so much on losing that we're genuinely baffled when we get three points.

We need Danny Wilson to be good enough for an Andy King new year unbeaten run to make the play-offs now. Is he up to it?

Few Town players will ever invoke the fury I felt watching Cureton cunt about for us... that miss at Yeovil that effectively sealed our relegation will stay with me for a long time

So long as we don't get an Andy King beaten run. What was it a club record 12 that chimp got to before Northampton rolled over?

Yeah, scored so many he kept us up.

Even Vince Pericard has done more for Swindon than Cureton ever did.

FWIW King only ever managed a then record equalling 6 straight league defeats, a feat achieved  by few previous managers.

However a new record of 8 straight defeats was achieved by 5 from King and 3 from Iffy in 05/06.

I've always wondered if he missed it on purpose so he could invoke his relegation clause and bugger off.

He had a great laugh about that miss with Ady Williams and a couple of others in a box at the Madjeski a few weeks afterwards so I heard.

To be fair it's not really the club's fault given that Tranny probably got down here on Friday and the weather was fine then.
