That's a lot.  I think that you need to multiply the Rain figure by a factor of approx 10 to get an idea of how deep it would settle as snow.  (Anyone able to confirm that?)  On that basis, you would be looking at about 7 inches of snow...not that you can forecast details like that with any degree of accuracy three days out anyway.

I've always suspected this. I like the way forecasts on the telly spend 80% of the time they've got telling us what the weather has been, not what it's going to be.

To be fair, I think the quality of weather forecasting has improved a lot.  Remember as a kid it was commonplace to hear comments along the lines of 'weatherman says it's raining tomorrow...time to get out the sunscreen' etc.  These days, when they say it's going to rain/snow/thunder, it generally does.

At the moment it reads 13.1mm rain - which should be about 65mm of snow though. Not quite the ten times factor thats been spouted about, don't know where that figures has come from...Even so it's not a whole heap of snow like the other week, but the forecast will probably change again tomorrow.

They've gone for worst case scenario, I worked the best case scenario / the least amount of snow you can expect (if all 13.1mm of water equivelant of snow settles)...I'm not trying to cover my tracks, honest.

No snow here at the moment, and metcheck is currently reading brass monkeys but no snow.

Can't see it being off, we have been barely effected by any snow today and all the weather forecasters have changed there prediction for tomorrow from heavy snow to light snow.  Covers are on the pitch so looks like it should be fine.

There is no way that its colder or the ground is harder than the Crawley game (well it isn't in Reading anyway) so at the moment i'd say game on too, as you say provided we've covered it.

Travelled down last night, looks like we're going to be stuck in Chippenham now.

I am relly getting withdrawal symptoms from a lack of live football - my boys games keep getting postponed as well.

I'm going to retract my earlier comments.  Snowing heavily here, to the point that the ground covering has gone from a light dusting to white out in the last hour.  And the sky's gone dark.  Metcheck has chosen this point to completely remove snowfall from its forecast.  If it's like this in Swindon (and it sounds as if it is), no football today I think.

Its knee deep out here in Brinkworth and the local weathergirls on ITV and BBC have just offered completely different forecasts for the same local area... so I've just suggested to the wife that they should fight it out over whos forecast is right.. preferably with bikini's and mud involved. She didnt think the idea was a winner.

Of course it isn't! I was being dramatic. (Although on checking, The metcheck website does say it's -7 this morning, -5 afternoon and then -7 evening, so my drama wasn't too far wrong - shockingly.)

More or less every match is called off, few on in the Championship - I didn't realise how well Leeds are doing, they are betaing QPR 1-0 as it stands and are in 2nd place. I thought they were in the bottom half of the table.
