Anyway, there are some scorchers here - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/nov/22/top-10-worst-misses-football Truely savour the awfulness.... EDIT - here is the complete list with youtube links - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/poll/2010/nov/29/vote-top-10-worst-misses-football Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 20:55:03 I wonder if RB @swindon-town-fc's non-uploaded archive has the Close miss? I don't know if I've seen it.
Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 21:02:20 I'm sure Bamber missed some sitters. I have a vague recollection of him having an open goal a yard from the line and hitting the shot out the ground, though I imagine I've exaggerated it somewhat.

Bamber clean through on goal and stops and kicks ball away as he though he was offside! Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: suttonred on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 09:13:55 He was about 10 yards out and a Luton fan blew a whistle, so he just wellied it out instead of sticking it in the net.
Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: dell boy on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 09:49:24 Cureton immediately springs to mind.

Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: Bewster on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 10:19:36 Postman Dunc at Town End - late 80s - put it out the ground from 10 yards.
Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: THE FLASH on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 10:24:23 Cureton immediately springs to mind. His deliberate miss against Yeovil,,,,,,,spring that clause... Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 11:17:53 clearly thee's some bias on the voting becuase Rosenthal's is not the worst. Misses by Baptiste, Bwala Kalusha, Noah Hickey, Jose Carlos Fernandez, Fahad Khalfan and Arnaldo Vera seem far more worthy of victory to me.
I think we should decide who wins amongst ourselves then make it so. What is the one least deserving of being winner? Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 11:24:00 Noah Hickey has to be the worst by far.
Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 11:33:11 What, no Savo Milošević?

Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: Boner on Friday, December 3, 2010, 22:10:40 Luton away, Simon (ZDS?) Cup SEmi (?). Bamber clean through on goal and stops and kicks ball away as he though he was offside! I was there and remember that - some cunt in the Luton end blowing a whistle made him stop and think it was the ref blowing for offside Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: Nomoreheroes on Friday, December 3, 2010, 23:24:47 If you know what match it was I'll look them up! This was the first one that I thought of. It is still painful after all these years to watch it. Can't believe it. It was right in front of the Swinon end too. I was right up at the back of the stand and we all heard the whistle. There were also calls out on the tannoy for people not to use the whistle iirc. The Bamber one is already uploaded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxrqE8fgF9s Cant believe that we didnt win that game and didnt go on to win the cup. It really had our name on it that year. We were absolute class. Title: Re: Top ten misses of all time. Post by: A Gent Orange on Saturday, December 4, 2010, 09:27:09 This one from last Wednesday is fantastic - Dinamo Zagreb v Villerreal
