A 50p, 10p and 5p coin from 1969 when the UK went decimal in 1971. :hmmm:

Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, November 19, 2010, 09:07:35 Is this not something the seller has just knocked up, using a frame, a photo and some old change?
I remember when I was little and we went on holiday. On the flight we got a gift set of coins, commemorating something or other, and I thought I was rich. It had pretty much one of every coin up to £1. I left it on the plane and was heart broken. You are correct. Bit odd seeing noted above that money was not even available at the time! Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: Red Frog on Friday, November 19, 2010, 09:15:48 Mods, ban Spirit will you? We may be Swindon, but we're not all thick. :sherlock:

Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: flammableBen on Friday, November 19, 2010, 12:23:57 So how does that work? A 50p, 10p and 5p coin from 1969 when the UK went decimal in 1971. :hmmm: To be fair, all three coins were first issued in 68/69 in the run up to decimalisation. Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: Red Frog on Friday, November 19, 2010, 12:25:19 Fair enough. So you'll be forking out the £22 for this rare and timeless piece of history then.
Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: flammableBen on Friday, November 19, 2010, 12:40:24 Shouldn't be too hard to knock up your own. The coins aren't expensive

So you'll be forking out the £22 for this rare and timeless piece of history then. In fact, the 50p piece wasn't introduced until October 1969. Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: Red Frog on Friday, November 19, 2010, 12:48:00 You don't have a job at the moment do you Ben. The employer's loss is always the TEF's gain. ;)
Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: flammableBen on Friday, November 19, 2010, 12:59:25 If anybody really wants one I'll do it for £15.
Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: pauld on Friday, November 19, 2010, 13:15:40 Fair enough. So you'll be forking out the £22 for this rare and timeless piece of history then. Surely a piece of history can't be timeless, by definition? (Before anyone asks, I do have a job, but it's not engaging my interest as much as it might currently) Title: Re: Nice piece of memorabilia Post by: flammableBen on Friday, November 19, 2010, 13:20:22 Whilst I don't have a job, I can't keep my interest engaged on this thread as I feel the need to go and spend you're hard earned tax money on my favourite things - beer, bacon, and biggerettes.
