Because I had Family coming over from Canada.

The only reason I don't make home games these days is because it's too much of a ballache on the train. This only really applys to cup games, I just can't be arsed to watch us that often.

I didn't go to the charlton game (away) because I had an exam a few days later, so didn't weant to drink/waste revision time. I can't remember getting home that night 8)

I had an exam on the day of the game, and the next day too. And still went. I'm hardcore.

Similarly to Dave, I missed both the recent JPT home games because I couldn't be faffed with getting to swindon. In fairness, I went to work instead on both occasions.

Spent all day cutting wood with my old man in the 80s on the promise that we would go to Bournemouth (only an hour away where i used to live), only for the conning fucker to say he didnt want to go as he could'nt park!

So the excuses are:

A- My Old man was a conning cunt (at the time).
B - Too difficult to park (largest car park in the league at the time).

My memory of the fixture list is patchy at best, and I have in the past not attended a match because I was either 100% sure it was away or because I'd completely forgotten we were playing at all (This usually happens midweek)

Without matchday threads I'd probably miss quite a few.

My girlfriend said she couldn't go to the play-off final against Millwall because she HAD to go shoe shopping.

 I missed a game 27th December 83, because I'd been partying the night before ie Boxing Day and got so rat arsed that I just slept through. Had intended going, but had that horrible feeling when you wake up and it's dark, so you soon realise the mistake.

This bender precipitated a proposal of marriage to the bird I lived with....as it was obvious to me I needed to change my ways.

Having an exam the day after the play-off semi final leg, and my parents banning me from going with the threat of being kicked out.

Pfft why do parents make such a big deal about exams? They'll be financially bailing their children out whether they go into work or college anyway.

I'd have gone regardless because I'm hard to the core. I'd have also grabbed my crotch and screamed "thug life" at my parents if they tried any of that "caring" nonsense :D

September 07 i missed the Bournemouth game at home as i was at my brothers wedding in the Dominican Republic but i did make the Gillingham game when we won 5-0 despite being delayed and not landing at Gatwick until midday, i then got out of the airport and to the car park to get the car then back to Swindon in time to be in the cgh by 2.45.

i have a fitness scale, 7 or above and i will fuck the game off.

missed the playoff final as was in Spain with my gf. That said it ended up being the right decision in the end and watched the match in Anne's beach bar which was run by a Leeds fan who wanted us to beat Millwall on a small telly

I've missed a load of games during the protest era. Started out as a legitimate boycott but like Ben says, it is pretty ace getting wrecked in the pub all day and then taking the piss out of Mr Whippy. Whilst it was great it was horrible hearing the crowd and not being part of it/watching the match.

Probably the lamest one was very recent: I had a bad back so didn't go (Charlton at home). I made up for it by binning half an afternoon off work and driving back from Enfield to watch the JPT game the next week.

I've also missed a couple by getting plastered the night before and oversleeping.

Oh and I went to watch the televised game against Yeovil on a Sunday a few seasons back when I should have been doing last minute cramming for an exam the next day. We lost a shit game and I failed the exam.

I went through a stage in early 2005/06 season of "boycotting" Town home games due to my growing hatred for Andy King.  I think I missed about 3 games, I didnt like doing it but I think I made my point to the board - they sacked King and brought in Iffy.

Another excuse for missing games is when I am playing cricket who which I have been called a "gay cunt".  I also went to the beach once a couple of years ago instead of going to the County Ground to watch a 2-1 defeat by Millwall.  The shame.

I don't think I've ever missed a game that I intended to go to. I did, however, leave at half time against Rovers at home last season.

this is more of a series of events that should have led to missing a game that i didn't...

i was 17 and nearing the date for my driving test and like all nearly legal drivers i was on the look out for my first car.

having flicked through the local rag i had come across a polo for a mere 200 quid, excellent i thought so i got the old man to take me to check it out.

after a quick test drive i was happy that for 200 quid this was a first car i coulod be very proud of.

needless to say very shortly after haning over the money the head gasket blew... we managed to tow the car back to the people who sold it and after an exchange they agreed to give me my money back.

by the time all of this had happened it was one o'clock on the 22nd of feb 1997 in milton keynes, swindon were due to kick off in two hours at maine road.

i convinced the old man that we could still make it so we started on our way, what happened next?  yes, of course, traffic - so we'd had the worst start to the day possible and we were now stuck in traffic - 'don't worry dad, it'll be alright, we'll make it' i say.

course we did make it, with half an hour to go, 1-0 down to a horlock goal but luckily we were just in time to see nicky summerbee make it 2, we lost 3-0 and we actually tried to leave early would you believe, sadly the stewards wouldn't let us.

i did miss a game once due to over sleeping, my dad was away and i'd promised walrus the use of his season ticket, i didn't wake up till about an hour before kick off.  felt pretty bad about that one.

although i was back home for the city away match and we called trashton gate to ask if i could stand at the back as i was told not to sit down for a couple of months due to the fracture, miserable fuckers told me i wouldn't be able too.  cunts

I would like to think that is was my soul fault for King getting the sack, however his ability to be a decent manager probably did him more harm.  Iffy was not that bad, I mean he brought Petr Mikolanda to the club  :headhurts:

Being in Rotherham.

I once lost all my wages on the gee gees...so hitched to Aldershot and slept in the ground on the friday night.....and spent Saturday morning hiding inside the ground...jeez i was keen in them days.
Managed to get a free lift back and all......a real cheap awayday but i never did it again.
That was in the days when Swindon v Aldershot was a juicy affair on the terraces.

He would of still found a reason not to go....

I've left several games after 10 minutes because I couldn't be arsed and gone back to the Pub.Loyal supporter!I think 90 minutes is to long,games should be changed to an hour with no half time.
