Interesting they say Southampton are interested. I could go with £2m plus Barnard or Lambert for Austin.

Quote
Burnley’s interest is of course not alone, Millwall, Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers and Southampton are all thought to be interested parties

Jesus, that can't be the cream of clubs looking at him (QPR aside).

I've no doubt he'd look around Burnley and stay at Swindon!

I think it would take a really stupid bid to even vaguely interest our board. By stupid I mean 4-5 Million, which probably rules most of those out bar QPR.

It's all bollocks. I don't think he'd even want to move unless it was a big established championship club or a premier league club. I also think if he continues this season in the way he's started it, he'll be worth a fuck load more than £2m. He's simply head and shoulders above any striker I've seen in this division.

I think he'd happily bang them in all day in the premiership. Can you imagine Charlie with a world class supply?

I know it ain't going to happen but I have wondered what would happen if Arsenal bought him, with all the chances they create (and normally squander, especially Bendtner). He could set records with that kind of supply.

Surprised Premier League clubs aren't being linked with him. What more can he do?

Prove himself at a good Championship club, unfortunately.

The grass isn't always greener and all that.

I reckon it would take a big club, and by big I mean Newcastle not fucking Burnley to tempt him away.

If he can prove himself at England under 21 level with us that would be his best bet of landing a mega deal... A bag full of league goals and international goals...

He'll go when we accept a bid for him.

Just like most things prepare to be disappointed.

He'll go when the right deal is on the table for the Town and Charlie decides the club coming in is one he wants to go to too...

I don't know about you guys but I can't help but think that Charlie Austin will go when the right deal is on the table for both parties.

....what?

bit too much faith there old chap.
Charlie will go when the move suits his agent - and absolutely no one else in the world.
Money talks, and those who say "Charlie's not like all the others, he has his feet on the ground" etc etc are living in a dream world.
He is 21, he is in a career that is very short, and already players younger than him are world stars in the Prem.
It matters not that he will see others who it hasnt worked for, he is being advised by someone who is marketing a commodity.
This is football, not an amateur sport like rugby. Loyalty does not exist where money is concerned

My bet - Championship promotion prospects in January window - probably on the last day of the window, for about half what we all know he is worth - Millwall or QPR I reckon

No chance of Millwall...they are skint.
QPR maybe..........though will they spend 2 million cos thats what it will take...minimum.

Fully agree. QPR are the ones with the money...but the club is run by a nutcase in Briatore. There was talk a month ago that if they were to get promoted that Warnock would get the boot, and replace him with Lippi.

Yes they do, apparently!  Lot's of history down that neck of the woods apparently, even before the trial at Bmuff.

His Grandparents moved from Lambourn down to Sandbanks a few years back which is  where a certain Mr Redknapp lives

Ah, they'll buckle once they get a half-decent offer. The manager should belt up.

Never seen Austin play but is he really good enough for the premier league or have the potential?

Title: Re: Rumours of interest in Charlie A

Doodlebug to say but from the outset a few things stood out for me

His first touch & control is among the best
His work rate is very high for a striker
His ability to lay the ball off is coupled with a knack of seeing other players and competing the pass
He is not greedy, but is clinical when call upon.
He anticipates the half opportunities; the kind of opportunities that our other strikers seem to overlook
He wins nearly al his headers
He is not the quickest but is able to create an extra 2-3 yards on his marker through clever movement
Cox was a prolific scorer but was not in my opinion a rounded team player which is probably why he is struggling at WBA - Austin works for the team and the team work for him, I think the team as a whole suffers when Austin is not in it because they mss his overall input as well as goals. When Cox missed games we only really missed his goals.
One area i have yet to really see from Charlie are some long range shots either on or off target

In summary I think there is little to suggest he wouldn't succeed in the premiership but this would depend on which club and getting the opportunity... for me he would fit into Harry R's Tottenham outfit nicely

I agree with all that, and like Cox he's not worried by missing a chance, although saying that he does score with a very high proportion. Intersing about the long shots, I dont think I've seen him shoot from outside the box, bar the two bobbles at Wembley and Carlisle.

A very high percentage of his goals at Poole were inside the box. I can perhaps recall one that was outside. Just a natural born poacher/finisher
