Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, November 11, 2010, 22:45:23 I thought there was already another two years plus an option for an extra year that the club can exercise.
Is that wrong? Or are they trying to get him to sign up for life? I guess there is a decent pay rise heading his way if he does sign a longer contract. Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, November 11, 2010, 22:47:18 At least this might stop the rumours about Charlie going in January.

Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: herthab on Friday, November 12, 2010, 07:33:53 Good news if it comes off. Still likely to see him leave in the summer, but if he's on a longer contract we should see a bigger fee.
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Sippo on Friday, November 12, 2010, 08:06:34 I like the Prodigy remix One of the best songs they have done. Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? The great bald one doth speak the truthTitle: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: pauld on Friday, November 12, 2010, 09:33:00 I thought there was already another two years plus an option for an extra year that the club can exercise. Jeremy Wray's quoted in this morning's Adver thusly:Quote We value Charlie very highly and he has two years left to run on his contract, but he is not going anywhere and certainly not in January So, yes, jonny, basicallyTitle: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Arriba on Friday, November 12, 2010, 09:55:21 if the club can get him on a better contract it will protect them more in regards to a fee,and also would make the decision to move(when the inevitable offers happen) that bit harder for the player too.
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, November 12, 2010, 09:59:03 So, yes, jonny, basically Why, are, you, talking, like, this? Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: corner on Friday, November 12, 2010, 10:07:58 so when gordon greer wanted to talk to extend his contract he couldnt but cus its charlie and they can see a future and money in him they can.
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, November 12, 2010, 10:12:18 In a nutshell yes
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: wheretherealredsare on Friday, November 12, 2010, 10:42:06 I heard he wants a chocolate factory as part of the deal and for the team to call him the great Willie Wonka on matchdays. Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: pauld on Friday, November 12, 2010, 11:11:20 Why, are, you, talking, like, this? I. Kind; of {overpunctuated}! A, bit.Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: jonny72 on Friday, November 12, 2010, 11:53:40 so when gordon greer wanted to talk to extend his contract he couldnt but cus its charlie and they can see a future and money in him they can. Greer wanted a two year contract and Fitton didn't want to give him it, due to concerns as to whether he would retain his form and be a regular in the team for the next two seasons. Greer has played in just 5 of the 18 Brighton games this season. Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: RobertT on Friday, November 12, 2010, 12:25:05 They didn't say they wouldn't discuss a contract with Greer, just not until October time because that is when they begin looking at contracts each year - which is around now, when they are talking to Austin.
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Friday, November 12, 2010, 12:29:58 Good stuff. But he'll still be gone in the summer I think. He didn't look interested on Tuesday night. Strange for him.
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: corner on Friday, November 12, 2010, 12:37:45 Why would you want to discuss his contract when he has got 18 months 2 years left?
Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Batch on Friday, November 12, 2010, 12:39:23 Why would you want to discuss his contract when he has got 18 months 2 years left? To protect your assets. In the summer he'll have just 1 year left, hence worth less. To reward the player - increase wages to match performances. Might make him more inclined not to bugger off in Jasnuary. Sure ok sounds good, Mr Wray said he is not for sale so thats agood thing, are we we now going to try and build a team and keep hold of our better players? I hope so, i think the sale of greer has affected the team they were coming to a club that was building for the next league and we sold our captin. Title: Re: Charlie to extend contract? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Friday, November 12, 2010, 12:43:41 To me it's a sign that they are worried he could be off....or a sign that other clubs are calling in January for him and we want to send them a message that he's going nowehere. Hopefully it's the latter.
