Not surprised. Strachan has done nothing with McMiddlesbrough.

Apparently Mowbray's a shoe-in for the job.

Not content with bringing in all Celtic's old players, they're now after all Celtic's old managers.

I know people have often debated how well Celtic and Rangers would do in the English Leagues, but I'm not sure this is the best way to prove it.

(I appreciate Mowbray is a Middlesbrough legend, this is largely tongue in cheek)

He has - he's comprehensively proven that SPL players are not good enough for the Championship and so ended the "Old Firm to compete in English leagues" debate

I said at the time that Boro were twats for getting rid of Southgate when they did - in the playoffs and within touching distance of automatic promotion. They get rid of him as apparently that wasn't good enough and surprise surprise, Strachan did a far worse job than Southgate did. I imagine Southgate is pissing himself laughing at this very moment.

I personally think Mowbray would be a superb appointment for Boro'.

Proven in the CCC so yeah, it'd be a good move.

When you look back at the last few years in Scotland, Walter Smith has managed to win the SPL 3 times in a row for Rangers without shelling for a single transfer fee.

While it is a fantastic achievement, it doesnt reflect well on the managers who have been at Celtic during that time.

Strachan was woeful at Boro. Have to say that Steve Gibson is one of those chairmen who never seems to learn in the transfer market. He has funded so many terrible buys over the years. He needs to just get the players his manager really wants, instead of all of their targets.

There is a whisper that Bryan Robson maybe returning.

Strachan is a thoroughly unlikeable Sweaty. He's also a cunt for the last 8 minutes up at Leeds in the Prem.

i think i would have a better chance of getting the job before him.

And like Mex, I think Mowbray would be good there.

Trouble is Strachan bought all the Celtic players that Mowbray was happy to get rid off - not so sure they would be happy playing under him again

Strachan did a pretty lousy job there but at least he had the decency to resign and tear up the contract so he was due no compensation.

Then in that case, I suppose they would all have to fuck off. Whoever goes in is going to want to get rid of some of the players and bring his own in. I just think the football he got Hibs and West Brom playing was fantastic (and totally at odds with his own playing style oddly enough)

Good Appointment IMO, knows how to get a club out of the championship.

And he's a 'Boro legend.

Always a bit nervous about appointing a playing legend as manager. Strikes me as a really good way to soil the legacy.

Interesting to see how long it takes him to get rid of the scottish players he sold while in charge at Celtic and has inherated at M'Boro

And whether he will try and get Coxy on loan from West Brom
