The £400k asking price has to be a joke ..... Doesn't it? Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: suttonred on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:01:45 Sounds as if it could be a typical upfront fee for a young player almost out of contract. Saying that hope it's crap.
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Gethimout on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:02:33 If he goes for that amount - i'll eat my own shit!!
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:10:16 Sounds as if it could be a typical upfront fee for a young player almost out of contract. Saying that hope it's crap. Not sure how relevant the out of contract is as he's under 23 (or whatever it is). They'd still have to pay a fee and bearing in mind the number of games he's already played and (alegedly) a few PL teams being after him that fee will be a fair bit north of £400k. Besides, does anyone know for sure how long is left on his contract? I wouldn't be surprised if there is an extension clause in it anyway allowing the club to extend it if they want. Double besides, he ain't ready for the PL and probably not the Championship either - not consistent enough. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: The Artist Billy Paynter on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:11:23 400K! Robbing magpie skunk cunts. :badmood:
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:45:59 If he goes for that amount - i'll eat my own shit!! There's probably something you could eat before hand to make the taste of your faeces less foul. You've a couple of months to find out. Would we get 400K from a tribunal, when a lot of the player's formative years were spent at Argyle? Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Benzel on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:48:05 Two words Sean. Ben Tozer.
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: girlyred on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:49:28 His contract is up end of 2012 season :girlgiggle:

Post by: PHIL!!!! on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:50:35 Pretty sure Morrison said in a recent interview (After the Huddersfield game?) that there's a one year extension in his contract that the club can trigger at any point, so i wouldn't worry too much.
But still, 400k? PAH! Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:51:25 Would we get 400K from a tribunal, when a lot of the player's formative years were spent at Argyle? Seems a fair comment. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 15:54:59 His contract is up end of 2012 season :girlgiggle: That ties in with what I thought I recalled Fitton saying. I also thought that had an option of a further year if I'm not mistaken? Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Gethimout on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 16:00:34 There's probably something you could eat before hand to make the taste of your faeces less foul. You've a couple of months to find out. Would we get 400K from a tribunal, when a lot of the player's formative years were spent at Argyle? Maybe if i eat loads of kebabs then it'll taste like one? Or.... it'll runny and i can just drink it? The thought of this is making me feel sick. Can i retract my comment? :-[ Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 16:58:13 Would we get 400K from a tribunal, when a lot of the player's formative years were spent at Argyle? Not sure it really makes that much difference as he's been here since he was 16, so four years next summer. Imagine it is still a case of a bunch of dodgy blokes coming up with a figure over a few pints and cigars in some swanky members only club. Can't see it ever going to a tribunal though, Fitton would sort a deal out before hand rather than throwing his toys out the pram and demanding some stupid amount. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: knifey spoony on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:00:03 Two words Sean. Ben Tozer. A few more words: Leigh Mills Matthew Collins Lucas Jutkiewicz Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Stef Troll on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:08:21 Think £400k is a fair price considering he was a back up player last season. Needs to have 2-3 good seasons behind him before you can start saying hes worth more then £1 million
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:17:59 A few more words: Lukas is doing ok for himself. It didn't work out at Everton but he knuckled down and he's at a higher level than Swindon right nowLeigh Mills Matthew Collins Lucas Jutkiewicz Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: adje on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:45:55 400,000 is a lot of money for a 19 year old defender who's never played above league 2
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:51:38 400,000 is a lot of money for a 19 year old defender who's never played above league 2 We'd pay £250k (or more) for a young player with potential and that's for players with a handful of games, sometimes only at League One level. So in comparison, £400k for a young player with a fair few games behind him that a Premier League team thinks has got potential to step up is fuck all. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:55:40 400,000 is a lot of money for a 19 year old defender who's never played above league 2 But it's less than Everton had to pay for a 16 year old last year, who'd not played league football... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/e/everton/8243058.stm Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Batch on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 17:58:24 Damn, he is largely proving me wrong this year too. He has had the odd duff game but he's really come on.
He'd be a mentalist to go. Sure there is the £££, but his career would suffer arrested development. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: stfcinbmth on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 18:01:38 Be good idea to invoke that clause now and get him on a longer deal. Let's just hope it's all pie in the sky
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: leefer on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 19:23:06 Fact is he is under contract...........i would rather we keep him untill the end of his contract.
What the fuck good is 400k to us...............rather have him here and if he wants to go for nought so be it. Been fantastic this year and to be honest in my opinion has always done a good job for one so young............so lets keep him here and get the best out of him untill his contract ends. Post by: Sippo on Friday, October 15, 2010, 07:33:47 I really don't understand why these rumours appear at this time of year. The transfer window doesn't open til January. He's never in a million years going to be allowed to go on loan.
Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Arriba on Friday, October 15, 2010, 07:48:39 not a player i can see newcastle taking a punt on.certainly not for the money some of our fans think he's worth.newcastle aint exactly spalshing the cash on players either.
they have to try to stay in the top flight this year.if he were to go it would be for the future.no way would he get a game at the moment. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 09:05:53 If hes got anywhere near a half decent agent then he will tell him hes doing great here and if he wants a long career in the game he should stay at Swindon and establish himself as a Football League player.

Will be better for us...and probably for him. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: DV on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 09:37:32 He only signed a one year deal in the summer. He can do what he wants come the summer.

Happy to be proved wrong. On the official site it said he signed a one year extension in January 10. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? 2 years minimum Dave.........which lets face it is brilliant news for us....i thought it was only one year but wondered why they were not talking to him seeing as they are talking to 12 others...Douglas etc. The one year in the summer was an improved deal on the one left Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 10:23:12 A half decent agent. That's a novel idea :hmmm: Douglas was offered quite a bit more money from other clubs but his agent said you want to play for Danny Wilson at Swindon. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: Arriba on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 10:26:46 douglas is the top earner here so his agent obviously got him a good deal.
a good agent will get the best for the player.who are we to know he'd be better off staying here? we dont know what is being offered and from who Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 10:54:22 FAO Dave:

SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 11:14:44 Douglas was offered quite a bit more money from other clubs but his agent said you want to play for Danny Wilson at Swindon. Fair play to him. At least our system means the FA know we have tremendous depth to our national side for yeats to come. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 09:09:02 Queens Park Rangers are hoping to boost their defence by acquiring Sean Morrison of Swindon but face a battle with Newcastle and Sunderland for the highly rated 19-year-old.
From BBC today. Would be a good move for him if he got the first team opportunities. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle? Post by: fittons_coaching_badge on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 09:26:13 Take the £400k plus some add ons!

Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 11:25:20 only if we have a replacement lined up, and by that I don't mean Lecs. I think every player has a price, but it depends what we have in mind to replace them. there weren't any suitable centre-backs around in the summer, so I doubt they'll be many around in January.
If a deal to bring a player with more experience who might have played at a higher level and who has a few seasons in him, then yeah - it could work. The board and wilson need to work out whether or not a) 400k is enough and b) if we can get a replacement. I suspect not. Title: Re: Morrison to Newcastle?
