we couldn't even make a decent atmosphere with 30,000 of us at wembley last time. the want to get there in this shitty comp aint there for me anymore Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Processed Beats on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 09:59:14 Happy about the home draw, and we know we can beat them. Genuine chance of winning a trophy this year.

If we went all the way and won the piss poor paint pot but finished mid table, say 12th or lower - I'd still call that a failure season. I'd swap any sort of piss poor paint pot success for a top 6 finish right now. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: The_Plagiarist on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 10:08:58 I agree, I hope we miss out on the playoffs this year for the same reason. it aint the swindon spirit but i like it Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: flammableBen on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 10:15:28 Playoffs aren't at wembley this year so we won't have that dilemma if we get there thank fuck Yeah I know, but I don't think we should pretend that there'll suddenly be a wonderful atmosphere just because it's at a different ground. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Rustle on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 10:42:41 Another home draw so im happy with that, I would go back to wembley if we got there and like reg said it can only be a good thing for the club.

It is a much better ground tho. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 10:50:12 Whilst I agree about how shit Wembley was and how I don't want to go back there a decent run in this comp is by no means no bad thing. As Si said it can help with league form as well. Saints struggled at the start of last season then got a run going in this and started winning games left right and centre in the league as well. It just gives everyone at the club a lift and could be what we need really as long as we don't lose focus on winning league games as well.
Pleased with this draw as it's a home game and Brentford have been pretty poor thus far. In saying that they always seem to beat us in cup competitions. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Ralphy on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 10:51:02 Can't say i'm looking forward to another game at Wembley if like in May, we don't bother turning up, fans and players.

Agree about making it a better day out if we get there again some time soon. I don't want to resurrect this summer's debate, but there are things that can be done to encourage a better atmosphere and hopefully the board would recognise that and take action.Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: leefer on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 12:03:16 Agree about making it a better day out if we get there again some time soon. Designated 'singing areas' (where people who shout "sit down" and/or "be quiet" are automatically entitled to a free escort from the stadium) would be a good startWhat do you want................Fitton on the megaphone shouting give us an ssssssssssssssssssssss. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 13:18:20 Good draw. Looking forward to the game.
Our league form is very patchy and this is exactly the sort of game that keeps the season going. Chances are you will get a 2 legged southern final against a local rival, so its always going to be a lively game. Wembley was crap last time. But if we go next time we'll probably take less fans. The hardcore fans will be able to organise themselves a bit better and create a decent atmosphere. I guess the ticket prices for the JPT final are also a lot more reasonable? We need to get out of this attitude that we dont want to go back to Wembley because it was rubbish, we were rubbish more like. Didn't we lose to them in the Anglo-Italian Cup in about '92? Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 18:32:26 Didn't we lose to them in the Anglo-Italian Cup in about '92? Quite possibly...I don't think it counts though, how can you play an English team in the Anglo-Italian Cup :) Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: Hitchinred on Saturday, October 9, 2010, 22:27:43 I actually think that the weather (pissing down/cold) had a lot to do with the shit atmosphere. But the paint pot trophy final is even more likely to have bad weather earlier in the season.

But the paint pot trophy final is even more likely to have bad weather earlier in the season. Usually rain helps the atmosphere because more people stand up. One example I can think of would have been the home league game against QPR 2003. Pissed it down, superb atmosphere. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: herthab on Sunday, October 10, 2010, 09:38:19 Millwall probably sussed it out the previous year.
If we ever get to a final again, we should organise ourselves better. Try and pick one area for everyone who wants to stand and sing and get tickets at the same time. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: THE FLASH on Monday, October 11, 2010, 14:21:48 Millwall probably sussed it out the previous year. If we ever get to a final again, we should organise ourselves better. Try and pick one area for everyone who wants to stand and sing and get tickets at the same time. We did this and still had a few getting shitty with us. A TEF section should be allocated.. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: The_Plagiarist on Monday, October 11, 2010, 16:12:23 Wembley is a shoite stadium the accoustics are all wrong its an events venue more than a football ground, sounds like a swimming baths. It summed up the detached experience of being a modern football fan. Contrast that to charlton away that night and you've got the two ends of the football supporter scale. New wembley attracts the wrong end, the end which are killing football.
Whichever soft cunt said it was because it was raining, jesus christ get back to your sofa and your remote control mate, the best part of the day was standing out in the pissing rain drinking tinnies in the street with hundreds of town fans. Proper away day special! I fucking detested the place, grossly expensive soulless corporate whorehole. People sat in the back row asking you to sit down. Never seen you before at a town match in my life mate, get fucked - result probably played a part in this but is not the overriding reason I don't want to go back there. I seem to remember Millwall making enough noise, no accoustic issues down their end.. Blaming the stadium for our lack of vocal support is ridiculous.. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: axs on Monday, October 11, 2010, 16:19:42 The only song they 'sang' had one syllable and doesn't require any group timing.
Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: The_Plagiarist on Monday, October 11, 2010, 16:22:35 I seem to remember Millwall making enough noise, no accoustic issues down their end.. A little simplistic don't you think. Their one song is "miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll" any cunt can join in with that. If we had "swwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" we could have turned the entire stadium into a braying mass of fuckwits Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: The_Plagiarist on Monday, October 11, 2010, 16:31:40 Blaming the stadium for our lack of vocal support is ridiculous.. You added that bit in afterwards ??? Its one of the factors for our lack of vocal support, you get the same thirty thousand and cram them into one half of villa park or somewhere (shed ten thousand of them first) and you have an entirely different football experience. As it was we were in a fucking oversized school sports hall or something. Put the playoff final at a goodison or a city ground and you don't get the cunts who go along for the day out to look at the big screens and buy a wembleyburger to put the fucking wrapper in their scrapbook but then still think they're allowed to sit down in silence because modern football is a friendly place where they feel all safe and cosseted. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: jb on Monday, October 11, 2010, 16:34:26 A little simplistic don't you think. The fact that it could be heard means there are no acoustic issues. England fans also seem to be able to make enough noise when we play there, the songs have words aswell! Blaming the stadium is a hilarious cop out. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: The_Plagiarist on Monday, October 11, 2010, 16:40:20 Intentionally or through stupidity, you're missing the point. And now you're trying to compare us to England. We'll agree to differ on this one. Title: Re: Paint pot trophy draw Post by: jb on Monday, October 11, 2010, 17:05:40 Our fans were shit.
