Title: Deleted items
Post by: tans on Friday, October 8, 2010, 08:05:14
I accidentally put some files in recycle bin and deleted them, is there a way to get them back?

There's all kinds of programs you can download, some of which do useful things. That's the great thing about the Internet

I haven't done it for years, and can't remember what I used then.

Try this... says it's free but don't know if it's any good.

http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Basically, when you delete a file, most OS's don't bother going through and erasing every byte of data, because it would take ages. They just mark the first couple and last couple of bytes as "this stuff is deleted" so it can be written over as needed. Which means you can revover it. Or something liket hat anyway.

But as I said it's not something I've had to do for years, so give the above a try and then you can tell us if it's any good.

Yeah I didn't refresh the page before posting. Shame really, because it would have prevented you from being a stroppy cunt and I may have been inclined to buy you a pint or two on Monday :)

Is it Rovers already?

Wouldn't it be better to have Tuesday off, or do you have that too?

Yeah I have that off as well. Monday off to ensure I'm in Swindon and not working away.

Tuesday off to ensure I don't have to get up early after the inevitable beers.

You can still use it arriba, you just get an annoying message about updating from the trial version, but you don't have to.

How are you trying to 'delete' it? (assume you mean uninstall).

7zip is free and is better. If the adverts really end up annoying you. Although it sounds like you don't care.

That's quite a good one Si. I also like Smarty Uninstaller 15 day trial, handy for those one off jobs
