Title: Redundancy Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, October 1, 2010, 11:52:48 Sorry I've not been around, I suspect lots of you have missed me
Well the company I work for has gone tits up so I am now out of a job. We didn't get paid our wages for September. Tho I'm not officially unemployed until sometime next week when the receiver is appointed So if anyone hears of any vacancies for printers please let me know. Would be willing to travel and board if needed Used to running Heidelbergs and KBA Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: pauld on Friday, October 1, 2010, 11:55:41 Shit, sorry to hear that bmth. Hope you find something soon. HINT: Don't accept any jobs working for printers headquartered in the Newbury area

Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Ardiles on Friday, October 1, 2010, 12:22:34 Sorry to hear it, STFCbmth. The 'How is the Recession Affecting You' thread (which ran to a lot of pages) hasn't been bumped for a while, but the effects of the recession are still every real for a lot of people. Do you have any kind of cushion, or is find work by Monday a necessity? Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Sussex on Friday, October 1, 2010, 12:25:25 Pisser.

Can't find work by Monday, as I'm not officially unemployed yet Thanks for all your kind thoughts Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: LucienSanchez on Friday, October 1, 2010, 13:35:32 I won't offer advice, as when i was made redundant it depressed me massively and i gave up to become a student... but i am sorry to hear of your situation and hope you get sorted soon.
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Friday, October 1, 2010, 14:56:22 Bad luck dude - if it's any consolation that same thing happened to me about 6 years ago
At the time it was hideous having to go to the job centre and sign on to get statutory redundacy etc but as one door shuts another opens and sometimes you end up better off in the long run *hugs* Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, October 1, 2010, 15:14:26 Thanks for hug JFW
It also means no footie for me Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, October 1, 2010, 15:16:14 Listen on the radio and recreate the game in Subuteo form.
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: joteddyred on Friday, October 1, 2010, 15:22:20 I really hope something turns up for you soon.
Will you get the money you're owed for September or does it now have to go through the receivers? Must be really difficult financially if you haven't been paid and I assume if the company's gone bust you won't get any redundancy money either? Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: stfcinbmth on Friday, October 1, 2010, 17:52:02 I really hope something turns up for you soon. Must be really difficult financially if you haven't been paid and I assume if the company's gone bust you won't get any redundancy money either? Receivers have not been officially appointed yet. Septembers wages and redundancy should be coming from the government hopefully Some of the redundo I will be spending on Subbuteo players Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Friday, October 1, 2010, 18:30:50 I got some money back eventually via the government - had to sign up for jobseekers allowance and fill in about a million forms - you get the bare minimum but it's better than nothing and you do get it eventually
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, October 1, 2010, 20:54:54 If they haven't paid you then haven't they breached the contract i.e. you can walk right into another job?
Good luck though! Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: axs on Friday, October 1, 2010, 21:59:10 Best of luck bmth.
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Fred Elliot on Friday, October 1, 2010, 22:00:38 god sorry to hear that mate
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Spy on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 10:50:35 I was in a very similar position recently.
I looked at it like this... 1) get any job to get earning again then 2) look for a good job So far I've achieved step 1 but not step 2. Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Panda Paws on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 11:04:37 I was in a very similar position recently. I looked at it like this... 1) get any job to get earning again then 2) look for a good job So far I've achieved step 1 but not step 2. Sounds exactly like my plan as a graduate, and I have also achieved step 1 Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Fergie on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 12:30:33 So now you know what it's like when a players contract runs out !!
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 12:37:59 So now you know what it's like when a players contract runs out !! An odd comparison, given that most people don't earn anywhere near what footballers do, (even those in League 1). Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 12:52:11 An odd comparison, given that most people don't earn anywhere near what footballers do, (even those in League 1). players like nathan thompson, callum kennedy wont be on much at all Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Batch on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 13:03:04 So now you know what it's like when a players contract runs out !! That's a ridiculous comparison. A contract is for a known fixed term, the risk of it to being renewed is known. Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Fergie on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 13:52:15 Sorry ,don't understand that argument...are you saying that because a player knows when he'll be out of work that is better than not knowing your goint to be out of work and unemployed with no money to pay bills
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 15:30:59 players like nathan thompson, callum kennedy wont be on much at all Enough for fancy new cars with personalised number plates Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Batch on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 16:02:47 Sorry ,don't understand that argument...are you saying that because a player knows when he'll be out of work that is better than not knowing your goint to be out of work and unemployed with no money to pay bills Yes of course it is. You can plan accordingly. Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: pauld on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 16:10:54 It's a pretty sterile argument, really. Being out of work is shit no matter what. Being able to plan for it and so put some money aside does make it easier but it's still shit. Anyone out of work (who actually wants to work) has my greatest sympathy.
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Batch on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 16:26:35 It's a pretty sterile argument, really. Being out of work is shit no matter what. You are right. Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 16:44:37 losing your job is obviously a bastard, but if people are prepared to bite the bullet and do a different job to tide them over work aint hard to come by
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Sippo on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 16:59:17 Spot on arriba. There are jobs out there. Especially at this time of year.
Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: stfcinbmth on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 18:08:26 losing your job is obviously a bastard, but if people are prepared to bite the bullet and do a different job to tide them over work aint hard to come by Don't worry I'll be doing that. Trouble is I'm in total limbo land at the mo Title: Re: Redundancy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, October 2, 2010, 18:19:09 best of luck with it.
