He looks like that Brian character from Ideal. I keep expecting him to call everything scrummy.

I fucking despise that show.

Here's the L1 highlights. Swindon vs Hudds.

Roberts broke his arm, Swindon scored a later winner, Hudds almost nicked a point. The end.

Fuck off.

Which one is Clem? Is he the guy who goes to all the grounds and is overly matey with everyone - and grins endlessly like a wanking jap?

Danny Baker is doing a thing on his radio 5 show about invisible teams.  Thats us in the eyes of the media.  Every report is all about the other team, when we beat southampton it was the same.

You're right the FL show is a joke though, top billing for our game and 1 chance to each team and 1 tackle, thats just not good enough.

She's a victim of being a former childrens TV presenter because she still talks to her audience like we're 10 year olds

Plus I don't care what Jack who supports Cardiff thinks via e-mail.

Clemmit was great on BBC Look North pre-big leagues.

I like the FL Show, and I like Clem and Claridge.  Also that posh Lizzie bird would get it, when I watch the show on iPlayer, I usually feel about the mental age 10

Exactly. It's not 5 Live, it's not 606, there is no debate involved and rarely an expansion of any thoughts/comments. I don't see the point in it.

The email bit is tv's version of the adver comments section. Completely cliche ridden every week. I quite like egg head though, he's keen and knows his stuff. ( can be bothered to research) And as for highlights they do the same for every team they only really show the goals, or near misses if none or one goal in the game.

I think it's all a little patronising like we're the 'special' kids who can't afford to sit in an armchair and cheer away to teletext.

The coverage is crap.  They spent more time showing the Huddersfield team coach pull into the Country Ground than the chances we had during the game.

There's not much you can do due to the sheer amount of highlights.

I suppose they could give 5 minutes per club which would run as a programme for about 180 minutes. Minus the punditry.

Either that or offer a more comprehensive highlights service on the ol' Red Button.

Oh they love showing coaches pulling up sooooo much. It's like they think that people will think they're doing really in-depth coverage and getting right behind the scenes when in fact....they're showing a coach pulling up and tacking on some really rubbish, inadequate highlights  ::)

Well it's not as if it's on at a peak time during the schedules is it? So why not make it longer?

My memory of Clem is him randomly being outside the away end after Charlton with a camera of which I may or may not have had a Gerrard moment with.

They don't need to make it longer. If they got rid of all the shit "magazine" bits (like Clem wanking around in the dressing rooms/team hotel/training ground) and ditched the utterly pointless "Speek your branez" emails which say fuck all, they'd have much more time to actually show proper highlights of all the games. Why do they think people watch a football highlights show at gone midnight? Maybe, just maybe, it's to watch some bloody football highlights, as opposed to watching some dizzy blonde prove she can read emails out or the Torquay squad eating their fucking cornflakes in a hotel somewhere.

It's still the best free to air coverage we've had of the Football League I can remember, probably since the PL break away.

Though they could make the show a bit longer and increase the length of highlights on their website.

Hopefully they'll invest even more in the Football League when the TV rights are up for grabs next. I still reckon they should drop the Premier League and let one of the other free to air channels pick it up, then throw all the money at the Football League instead. A live Championship game every week and decent, extended highlights of all the divisions.

the coverage is shit, simply because the fucking championship has the monopoly on it, should be called the championship show :smack:

There are some viewers like STFCDave, who probably prefer this bit to the football....do bus spotters get a fair deal for their license fee?

I think it's all a little patronising like we're the 'special' kids who can't afford to sit in an armchair and cheer away to teletext.

I don't think anyone watches on teletext any more but Danny Baker did once recall the sense of anticipation as you slowly waited for the teletext/ceefax page to move onto your teams score. He said he used to cover his eyes and the first thing he noticed was the colour on the text which was different for goals, sending offs or missed pens. Can remember a real sinking feeling when we chucked a lead away at Leicester years ago as I saw the result score flash up as 2-2

My God, I thought I was the only moaning miserable ole git who didn't rate the FL Show. I wholly concur with the above comments especially the lack of highlights from games yet they find time to play those damned annoying linking bits showing men with beards & fat bints messing around with a ball supposedly representing the teams in the league. Cut it & show more goals, incidents or crucial bits - please!

I think there must be only 5 or 6 teams in League One that they've ever heard of - the others (including Swindon) are only there to make the numbers up. Sheffield Wednesday - financial problems there Manish, Huddersfield, Charlton - fallen London Premiership club, Peterborough (don't forget to mention Barry Fry) and of course Southampton - cue update on the latest at crisis club Southampton & new manager Nigel Adkins.  Hence the disproportionate amount of coverage they get whereas the rest of us have to hope we win 20 - nil to even get a mention.
Clem is a bit like everybody's favourite vicar - a kind word for everyone & everything then on to the next roadshow from somewhere quaint. As for the others, well Lizzie - I just think she's got loads of spots under her thick make-up & is she genuinely interested in football or is this just another job to go on her CV?. Steve Claridge's comments range from the blindingly obvious to the bizarre and banal. Witness last night's comments about why some teams cannot win away - he seemed genuinely bemused and just muttered something fairly incoherent about getting it right. The text messages & e-mails are just an opportunity for 10 year olds to say my team is great if they have won or the manager hasn't got a clue if they've lost - and have your name mentioned too.  But it is the only programme that does address the affairs that interest followers of real football so I guess we're stuck with it even if it does have to share the grave yard slot with the epilogue and the shipping forecast.  Rant over

And when you do mention Barry Fry of course, you have to do a little self-indulgant half-smile which is really saying, "What a fucking head case!" 8)

Actually, rather than showing coaches pulling up, why not show the assistant managers doing a bit of cone gathering :hmmm:

Now that's something I wouldn't mind watching 8)

Have you forgotten the Dean Wilkins master class in the recent JPT fixture at Soton?

Unfortunately it's no longer available on the Beeb....I suppose it might lurk somewhere else now.
