Post by: herthab on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 16:02:28 I think this should be advertised on the tef, maybe a big banner above the list of threads?
Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 16:10:03 Yeah, gonna have a word see if we can get something going. :)
In all honesty though, many of us keep missing club announcements, so a little publicity might be good. Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: Langers on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 16:32:44 Looks good Barry, its a great idea.
Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 17:37:35 Looks good. Should get funding from the club for the advertising?

I wasn't knocking it Bazza, the more publicity promotions like this get, the people will come to the games (Hopefully). Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Know for a fact that the Q a A in the Winners wasn't advertised well. A poor turnout last night apparently....i for one may have popped along if i knew it was on. Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 18:59:23 The problem the club face s how to advertise in a cost effective way beyond press releases and the official site and e-mails. I'd imagine Heart will set the club back a minimum order of a couple of grand, based on £30-£40 per spot for one station in the group. Given the ticket offer would need hundreds of extra purchases just to justify the spend and you can see it's a tough one. If you consider the audience they'd cover, it's not massive, certainly not big enough for one off small purchase offers. It only really works when you are trying to get big spend or you are regional/national company selling in volume.
The Adver probably charge several hundred per ad, and you'd need a good sized one carried over lots of days to really make some impact. Web advertising is very difficult for them, forums are inhabitted by those that go, where else can you get possible attendees without having ads everywhere? I think for Season ticket offers some of these media can work, but a one off deal for a game is a tough one to cover costs on. Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 19:45:31 Looks good. Should get funding from the club for the advertising? No, I'm doing it for free. I love the club and feel it's helping where I can. It doesn't increase my costs in any way, so I don't mind. Know for a fact that the Q a A in the Winners wasn't advertised well. A poor turnout last night apparently....i for one may have popped along if i knew it was on. Which is exactly what has prompted me to start promoting everything. I was quite gutted about last night and decided I would do what I can to help. Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Which I commend you for, but a little contribution towards the running of the tef. Especially with the adidas/fifa part. Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! I feel quite good about about helping where I can, however token it may be. I wouldn't accept payment; it just wouldn't sit right with me however bizarre that sounds. :) Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! You used to wear silly hats and say daft things to get in the Adver to promote certain supporters' groups. Paint the ticket offer on your bare belly and strut around the stupid wanky fountain in Canal Walk one lunchtime willya? Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: @MacPhlea on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 21:38:09 great job on the announcements board.... every little helps (and shows how boring things are here in Carrigaline)
Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: The_Plagiarist on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 21:39:36 Its a great idea, agree about the advertising costs point though. But this one is surely aimed at existing supporters anyway. (that and season ticket holders to bring a +1 along)

A poor turnout last night apparently....i for one may have popped along if i knew it was on. I didn't see it advertised anywhere and knew nothing about it until today. I know a few people who would have gone if we'd known. I don't understand why the Advertiser can't do a bit more publicity for things like this and ticket deals. Doesn't half to be a half page spread just a brief article in the sports section? Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: joteddyred on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 21:43:36 Barry, can I advertise my house on here? ??? We could start a Sales and Swaps section? I dread to think of some of the items that might appear? :hmmm: Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 21:48:55 Barry, can I advertise my house on here? ??? Of course. I'll set up some tracking and should the sale go through off the back of my links then you give me 10% or I start killing people. Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: pauld on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 22:13:48 Nice work Barry! (The ad links, not the threat to kill 4D although I kinda like that too)

Title: Re: Official News: Two games from £24! Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, 07:30:39 Bazza, I appreciate your efforts to help out the club with a bit of free advertising, but is there any way you can make the announcements box collapsible?
For purely selfish reasons, it makes it even harder to me to try and browse the forum inconspicuously whilst at work when there's a massive banner splashed across the screen everytime I go to the home page. Haha, I have to go out now for the rest of the day, but i'll see if I can sort something. You could go directly to the forum latest posts function? http://thetownend.com/index.php?action=unread |
