In a way he was right though, any result at Saints is a good one and we would have celebrated it.  Ok we won even better but that was a very good result that, it surprised me a bit.

Im very surprised Pardew has been sacked, he did well last season considering the points taken off them.  He would have got saints up there im sure.  Now who do they go for  ??? I thought this was April the 1st .

On the main screen, it comes up with a advert for 'Saints Player' but then it says this...
http://aka-cdn-ns.adtech.de/apps/427/Ad5456811St3Sz16Sq4658267V0Id2/Southampton.jpg

Still if Pardrew has been sacked with his record this season and last something must be going on behind the scenes.

Very wierd one, even though he wasnt hugely liked they had a great result at the Brizzle Dogs Saturday.

My mate who is a season ticket holder there says they are going all out to get Martin O'Neill there, I can't see it myself though.

Saints fans are saying Pardew asked for permission to speak to Villa, so they sacked him.

There was always huge expectation there, and the fans never really took to him.

Gonna be a difficult job for whoever comes in, the transfer window's about to slam shut so realistically they'll have to work with Pardew's squad. Still one of my favourites for the league though.

the transfer window's about to slam shut

Why does the transfer window always, always have to 'slam' shut? Can't some one just close it normally?

Breaking news!!!!!!!

The handle overlaps the frame. Poor design.

Just been chatting to my Saints supporting mate and hes absolutely gutted and he says 80% of the fans actually backed Pardew to do the job and is convinced as many are that he was told to leave after wanting to chat to Villa.

I asked him who is being mentioned and apparently Hoddle, Tisdale and O'Neill(no chance IMO) but the favourite is an Italian manager with experience is lined up by the board already, no names mentioned apart from Zola (not exactly experienced) but it aint gonna happen before tomorrows game so we may have an advantage if the Saints fans turn on their board as they may well do.

Pardew would like Villa....few years back on  a work thing I was given a ground tour of the Madejski....the home dressing room was painted claret and blue, apparently Pardew's favourite colours as a West Ham fan...

Entitled to talk with a bigger club surely without the sack. Talking looking isnt going there.  This is surely a big mistake, Southampton are not gunna get that sort of loyalty.  If Danny  was eyeing up a role at a larger club, and wanted to talk with them im sure we would not sack him, would we, we know football is dog eat dog. Hes ( Pardew )  has just won 4-0 at City,  surely that should have earnt him another month in the job. Villa is a big job and if he felt he had a chance of it he had to give it a go, no one should blame him for that. Going by this Danny had better watch his step a bit, there must be other clubs looking at him,  and if he shows interest  :suicide:

Bad day for football  :badmood:

tis football nature, by asking for permission to talk to a club means that you are not 100% happy in your own job and are looking for pastures new.

If Danny asked for permission to talk to a bigger club I too would expect him to be refused and possibly even sacked, its not unusual at all in football.

I hate Saints with a passion, but i think they have made the right move.

Hes a poor manager who couldnt even get Saints into the playoffs last season.  Couldnt see them making the top 2 this season, but with a decent manager in charge, they probably will do now

Please no!

Shefield United are probably the only club outside the Prem he'd go to anyway. Strange to see him on that list of celebrity managers.

The spin is similar to Middlesbrough's excuse for letting Southgate go last season.

I was never bothered about Pardew until his comments before our win at St. Mary's last season. Knobhead.

The Saints board probably remembered the time he screwed Reading over by walking out to join West Ham, no loyalty at all.

I did like Pardew when he did that though.

OF seems to have caught the contagion rife amongst scummers that they're in fact a massive club, just a couple of seasons away from European football...after all they did finish 95th in the English football pyramid last season.

Why manage Ipswich, Norwich, Leeds, Nottm Forest, Derby etc when you can manage the Scum. If Town went in for him he'd sign on the dotted line in a hearbeat.

Plymouth fans said similar when Leicester came sniffing around Holloway a couple of years back and then....

Chris Wilder will go if the Championship calls, not saying that to wind a rival fan up, it's just ambition.

I think Pardew would have always been 'on the brink' as long as they were failing to win week in/week out.

The 4-0 win over Bristol Rovers would have been an inconvenience for the Southampton board.

Discussed this on Saturday on the way back from Plastic land.

I commented that the Rovers result should keep the Monkeys off Pardews back. I agree with Rich.....the Saints board must of sighed at that result.

Kick off the season tonight with a win on pens then two league wins on the bounce....

Probably a good fit for Saints actually.  Hart didn’t mind Flavio Briatorre picking the team when he was QPR so he probably won’t mind working for this dictator either.

Stefpol are you mad.  They had a big points deduction last season and were coming back from administration. Pardew did very well.  This was a big big mistake.  Few in the list could do a better job.   Hoddle ( GOD)  could but hes fallen out with them, or them with him.  Others on the list  are not better than Pardew, so why change.   :girlgiggle:

We beat them 3-0, maybe not had Pardew been there. Fortunate time to play them, papers over our own cracks a bit. Blimey Pericard scored 2  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

He pissed me off when he had the chance of thumping Wenger and in the end walked away, what a waste of a golden opportunity to thump 'Old Specsavers' and be in the right.

This is the third time we beat Saints "at the right time"

1-0 @ CG - Finding it hard to adjust to League One
1-0 @ SM - Focusing on the JPT Final
3-0 @ SM - The felt down because they'd sacked their manager

 ::)

Can't we just enjoy a victory when it comes and encourage/praise struggling players when they do well (considering the amount of abuse us fans throw at them when it's not going well).
