There seems to be a totally unrealistic attitude amongst some Town fans. Not that long ago we didn't know if There would be a game next Saturday, now its a must win every game and promotions a divine right and to knock DW performance to date? Beggars belief.

Yeah, I thought at that as well, you cannot believe these people actually exist - surely a wind-up.

Before the internet I think people were a lot more positive. Nowadays it seems some fans want to slag everything off at the first opportunity.

Maybe it was the threat of aggro as well. I remmember quite a few fights on the terraces where someone was slagging off a player and got smacked. Nowadays there is no fear of that.

Not only that Spencer..........people pay a lot more money these days to watch football..the whole package of watching football is a lot more expensive...so people who are not happy seem to be more vocal.

To be fair that is all we need. A CB and a LM. Possibly another striker but that's probably being a bit too picky.

That is definately true most of the time. But not all the time. Our season ticket prices are superb value and its about time our supporters started to show some loyalty.

We should ask the adver to allow The TEF to act as moderators on their comments board - any volunteers?

Of course....but people are allowed to view there opinions.......loyalty and money dosn't come into it...if i think something is shite i will say so...even if i got it for free!

In truth I am also sick of hearing Wilson say we need players. Just get it done ffs. Now he's said he needs 4 if we dont get 4 people will just get all negative about how we cant sign players and our squad isnt complete etc etc

Its not as easy as "just get it done" though is it Dave.  If there was a whole host of good players available cheaply we'd be getting them in.  We had all this "hurry up" panic buttonn hitting before Ferry and Caddis signed.  Now we are impatient again.  I'd prefer the right signings and am prepared to wait for them, rather than rushing in and signing the first player who becomes available.  Wilson has not made many, if any, errors in the transfer market, and yet we still question him.  It's no wonder people think football fans are moaning, impatient and fickle.  We get the reputation we deserve.

It is as easy as just get it done, thats what we pay Wilson to do.

I fully understand there isnt a fountain of fantastic players readily available. I dont want panic signings or the wrong players.

However, the point is - i'd rather hear nothing then see an article saying we signed player X rather than alot of articles about how we need more players, we have a few offers in which may or may not be accept. We want this many players but probably wont get them and all that.

Wilson was asked a direct question and gave an answer.  Nothing wrong with a bit of honesty.  Maybe he expects the fans to understand that we don't always, always get what we want?  It's a bit like life really.  I want four steaks for my dinner - I'll more than likely only get one.

But dont give one of your best steaks away....especialy for almost nothing.

Unless you have a better replacement steak lined up.

I'd sell almost any steak for £250,000.  I'd sell most centre backs for that too, if I'd been subbing the club out of my own pocket for the past few years.

You'd have to offer me twice that before I sell a T-bone though.

Yes, but you arent in a competitive sport.

If we have a shit season we will probably lose 250k in revenue anyway - leaving us no better off.

Every decision in sport comes at a risk.  They weighed up the value of the deal against the impact it could have on the pitch, and decided that it was worth selling.  I still trust the people running this club enough to think that if they thought it was in the best interests of the club, they were probably right.  They've not got much wrong since being in charge, have they?

It's not always as black and white as you seem to see the world, Dave. 

Once again you're speaking from a position of relative ignorance. None of us know exactly what went on between Greer/Brighton/Wilson/Fitton that led to the transfer, and I can't believe it was as simple as the club just waving him off.

You also keep banging on about not replacing him and yes, in hindsight Wilson should have (Which he's admitted) but we're also quick to slag DW off when he doesn't play the players we already have. LJF and Cuthbert both played well in central defence last season and Morrison is an exciting young prospect; they deserved their chance. It hasn't worked, we know it and Wilson definitely knows it (It's his job, innit?)

Let's wait and see what transfers we manage before Tuesday.

We need two good defenders and a forward.  Expectation has gone up and rightly so. Its be driven up by Wilson , the board , last seasons play , and Wembley.  Millwall got up having failed the year before, so we can do it.  But they kept the same squad together we have a totally new team which needs to gel.  That was the Wembley effect.  Wilsons been confident about the side up till now, and the board have. We all saw what we were capable of last term, we rightly think we can go forward now. Its a natural progression , the next step up.  Football is expensive now, people  expect well paid footballers to deliver the goods.
