Some of you may have already noticed us whoring this podcast across other forums, so apologies if you've read this already.... :)

Some friends and I have decided to start a podcast charting Swindon's progress throughout this season. We've recorded the first episode, titled 'Brentford, Bloody Brentford'.

Fellas - listened to the first few minutes and did enjoy it.  I will listen to the rest when I get the chance.

Good effort.

A well rounded opinion after less than 13 minutes of actually listening to the thing.

I was probably a little harsh. Little things though, we lost 5-0 to gillingham, not 5-0, and labelling o'brien as not a footballer annoyed me.

Just done the first 30 minutes of the podcast. Sounds like a room full of pricks who've watched 'the footie' for a couple of seasons and take themselves and their 'you know' opinions too fucking seriously.

Most of what I heard has just been regurgitated from the forums and newspapers. Fuck all originality. :zzz:

Not listened to it yet, but will do. Fair play to you for getting off your butts and doing it. Easy to slag it off, not so easy to do one. I take it dave and delta could do better?

Haha noo! Like I said, i'll give it a full listen tomorrow to give a full judgement. And to be honest, there speaking there opinions and all power to 'em. But if I don't agree I don't see why I should continue to listen.

Listening now. Seems a bit too doom and gloom (to be fair I'm only 5mins in so not a very valid opinion). Fair play for doing it.

Or maybe you could offer to contribute and put forward your point of view? That might be more constructive and result in something more along the lines of what you wanted this initial effort to be.

The 'Dave and Delta' Podcast would no doubt be a fucking awesome experience, and piss easy to do nowadays on a decent mobile phone.

I doubt I'd find it neccessary to do patronising impressions of a west-country carrot cruncher, or the odd insulting, stereotypical Indian accent, like the posh cunt podcasters chose to do about 27 minutes or so in, but fuck, its a free country, eh PaulD?

Well, like I said to dave, if you don't like what they've done, get in touch with them and contribute something yourself. It'd offer the alternative viewpoint you seem to want, I'm sure they'd be very grateful of someone filling some pod-time for them and I'd love to hear a 5-minute "Delta's ranty shouty swear-in" section. That'd be worth the ticket alone (although if they bleep-censor it, it'll sound like Morse code or a modem having an orgasm)

I'd add again I haven't yet listened to it myself so I reserve the right to do a complete volte face and join the naysayers when I finally do :)

The main reason it doesn't work for me is because I've stopped caring about the Brentford game. I've moved on and hope for a win on Saturday.

I tried to listen beyond 15 minutes but I'd had enough by then. Although I'm regretting the fact I will never know if John joined the podcast.

My first impression having listened to 10 mins is that they get alot of little things incorrect. Not a big crime but it really bugs me! "Losing 5-1 at Gills"... "then beating Milton Keynes 4-0 in the cup"... "we beat leeds 3-0 twice in the space of two-three weeks" etc etc

Haven't listened to it and won't be, so I can't comment on the content.

With all the opinions on here, on the adver site, in the pub before the games, etc, etc, I don't think I could take any more!

(And the only opinion that's worth anything is mine anyway)

Seems to be banned here in China which is strange considering how liberal the government is to whats put on the internet.

We're not expecting everyone to like it, we're probably expecting hardly anyone to like it! It's just opinion, that's all. If you don't like it, then fair enough! Do appreciate the feedback on here, and yes there have been a few elementary mistakes such as getting scores (slightly) wrong and only posting this on Thursday, so we will work through them.

As for the west country accent, that's how the guy talked and it's how I talk too (when I'm drunk) as I'm from deepest, darkest devizes. And the Indian accent, well the guy is half indian, so maybe these are private jokes that don't translate too well on a podcast. Still, it's all a learning experience...

at whoever's house is available. Have a few mics plugged in to a mixer, which is plugged into a laptop. We plan to interview a few people at the southampton game, so look out for us!

Looking back at the plays offs in 90 and 93 - we had good teams! genius!

We created loads of chance, they werent clear cut because the Brentford centre backs blocked a hell of a lot!

Have now listened to it fully, it's not too bad. I were probably a bit harsh with my initial assesment. It is a bit dry though, a podcast where most of your listeners will have seen the game will struggle if i continues along the match review theme. To please PaulD I have thought of a few suggestions:

- 'Where are they now'. You have a few weeks between each recording, it can't be that hard to come up with something fairly interesting to cover 10 minutes or so
- Take the piss more, be less serious.
- May not have the equipment to do so, but sort the recording levels out. Two of the guys sound as if they're out of the room when speaking.
- Get your facts right :)

Thanks for everyone's feedback so far. The first episode has certainly been an eye opener! In hindsight, think we probably rushed it out before we really knew what we're doing. We won't make the same mistakes again though!

STFC Dave, I appreciate your comments, I think research and a definitive structure are definitively required...and yes, we do need to be less serious! Maybe we should get hammered beforehand  :D

Next episode is planned for after the Southampton game, so lots of time to plan.

Wiseman; Fair play to you, Tarquin, Rupert and Hubert for doing the podcast, but you should follow your own advice and get yourselves well hammered before doing episode 2. If you get a few facts wrong while inebriated on a couple of bottles of Dom Pom, it'll be funny as fuck and no one will care.

I'd have to say that as you'd expect from a football forum the reaction is mixed. Obvious as football is based on opinions and and there is no 'black and white'. Getting a few a facts wrong is not something to be slated for - corrected but not slated. In a live recording that is unscripted people will make mistakes and when they are so minor, to pick them out and slate them is rather childish. I'd imagine some are just not into it as they are perhaps jealous that someone else has an opinion and wish they had thought of the idea of a podcast. Sadly, in all walks of life these people exist. As a first effort I'd highly praise these lads for getting off their backsides and recording their opinions on the game. I would make the following suggestions.

1. Get the levels right.
2. Bullet point a few areas for discussion - perhaps some stories in the press that week or the like.
3. Don't be so apologetic. This is your god damn podcast and it's your right to do anything you like with it. If people don't like it then they don't have to listen. If they want to contribute, e-mail in or voice an opinion on it then that's their right but whatever you do, follow your heart and make YOUR podcast not what you think other's may want from a podcast.
4. Get a theme tune. Match of the day would have bombed without a phat theme tune - so would The Bill and Blind Date.
5. Do some features.

We don't know who stevenhchrist is.

It's not us - we appreciated all the feedback that we recieved and fully anticipated that we would get slated a bit as we knew that we had gotten a few things wrong in the first one, and also that we didn't really structure or plan it too well.

We did not take two weeks to 'bite' - we specifically do not want to bite! It's all good and all we want to do is have a bit of a laugh with it, and if a few people like it then even better.

Delta - I honestly thought we had left it with you thinking we were posh and advising us to get battered before the next one! :D

We won't pretend that the negative feedback didn't jar a bit, but we had a think and decided that our first offering could've been a lot better, and that the best way to react would be to tighten up our game! We are not children who take ourselves too seriously, we are adults trying to have a laugh and see where it goes.The last thing we want is to lose potential interest, or to get invovled in word wars.

We do not know who stevenhchrist is - the first thing I did when I saw this thread had been updated was to log in and post this.

No surprise this forum is made up of many a keyboard warrior making up for their lack of courtesy and manners with a large portion of swearing and guff.
