This season's got me thinking about why some people stop going to the football. I was sat next to some young(ish) woman all last season. She seemed genuinely interested in the club and even got a season ticket. I chatted to her a few times and even saw her in the Merlin before a lot of games. I think her name was Lucy.

This season her seat's been taken by a variety of different people and she's not been seen either in the ground, or the Merlin before games. Maybe she just lost interest, maybe she couldn't stand to sit next to the bloke on the other side of her (A foul-mouthed old guy) anymore, maybe she's in hospital recovering from an operation, I don't know.

I doubt if she comes on here, but if anyone knows a blonde haired twentysomething woman, who used to like football, but doesn't go anymore, let me know.

I took my cousin yesterday, he hadn't been in 10 years or so.

I lost three mates a few years ago to the premiershit, They seem happy to watch 3 to 4 games a season at anfield rather than watch us every two weeks etc. I fear i may have to give up soon tho because i need a seat with leg room because i can't bend my knee back very far and find it painful to sit cramped up.

10,000 and 8000 in the first two matches is very promising.....i actually saw the old guy in the townend yesterday who in the standing days would bait and swear at
the away keeper.

Im going to see the ticket office bloke tomorrow about doing that but aisle seats are popular im told, I dont really want to go in the townend because sitting at the front the view is not that good. I expect i may get an aisle seat in the arkells tho. I guess i cant be fussy tho.

You might have to sacrifice a decent view but there is always loads of seats in the Arkells near the Town End... I should think the club would be quite accomodating to your needs

Go on the Town End side of the Arkells and it's so empty you'll comfortably be able to lie across about ten seats.

I've never been in the townend so i dont really know what the view is like but i imagine it's poor because it's pitch level and sitting at pitch level has got to be poor. I will have word with the guy tomorrow and see what he can suggest. I would hate to have to stop going.

The Town End view is ok, but only if you stand up.

But the Arkells should be fine. Are you in the DRS by any chance? the leg room in there is crazy bad.

the leg room is as bad in the arkells as the drs.as already mentioned there are usually plenty of spare seats though.the other option could be the very back row of the townend at the top of the steps.

I have a season ticket for the Townend...i havn,t sat in my proper seat yet!
Yesterday i was right behind the goal as plenty of spare seats...view was ok and the atmosphere makes up for the lack of viewing.

Not far from us. Yesterday though they had stewards checking everyones ticket to make sure they were in the right seat before KO. Surprised you managed to get away from it but then again the later it got the less they could control it.

Would never sit in anyones seat and would always move if someone wanted there seat.
I never get in untill kickoff and by then everyone is settled and find it easy to get a seat...must say though it does tend to be abit like an episode of Jeremy Kyle in the Townend...which makes it even better value for money.

I remember the Charlton home leg, someone guy in the Town End with a walking stick, was sitting on the concrete steps in the corner next to the Arkells. It was absolutely rammed as I'm sure we all remember and the stewards were demanding he moved and were threatening to chuck him out. I thought it was disgusting. He quite clearly has a problem with his leg. Some people shouldn't be given roles wielding 'power'.

I've moved from the DRS now, but I haven't seen Bungle in a few years.

So every woman that goes to football knows nothing about the game, sits there shrieking throughout and I suppose you also think the reason we rally go is to watch 22 men running around?  It pisses me off that in 2010 some blokes still think women don't belong at football. 

It would be interesting to know how many female season ticket holders there are, I think people might be surprised, because there's an awful lot of females at the County Ground week in and week out certainly in the Arkells and DRS.  If we were to all stop going the attendance figures would decrease significantly.

On a personal note, having been brought up in a football mad household, I know more about football than most of the blokes who drink in my local and have taken money off a fair few of them on the basis of my knowledge.

And finally, there's plenty of blokes who sit near me who seem to have little or no idea of the rules of the game judging by some of the comments that they make!

Thanks Sonic,Nemo,Si,Leefer,arriba for your advice yesterday much appreciated. I changed my seat today to the townend towards the arkells stand,They let me go in the townend and choose what seat was suitable for me from a said list.

For the record I have a season ticket but am not going to be there until end of September as have stuff on.

I went to one game Corporate style and that was when Swindon were away to Hartlepool! I couldn't turn down a box on the half way line at Whitehart Lane + copious amounts of free food and wine! (Unless Town were at home of course)

I had to move from my usual seat to get three season tickets together. I'm also usually found at the Globe this season rather than the Merlin so some may think (hoped) I've stopped going.
