Just got back to our hotel.

Cowboys won 16-14, in front of a crowd of just over 64,000 (including a lot of Cowboy fans)

To be fair the Cowboys offense didn't play very well, the defense stopped two San Diego drives inside the Red Zone with turnovers, one which was returned to the San Diego 10 yard line and led to the Cowboys first half TD. Score was 7-7 at halftime.

After the break the backups played for both teams and the Cowboys won it on a late Safety.

Overall, I enjoyed the game but the Cowboys will need to play better if they are going to contend this season.

We are off to Valencia in the morning to go to Six Flags :)

A low scoring affair then. You can tell so little from NFL pre-season games though because of the physical nature of the game and teams only playing their starters for one quarter or maybe less to avoid injury. The Cowboys should get to the play offs from what is an extremely tough division but beyond that is anyone's guess really. They'll obviously be desperate to get to the SB with it being played at the 'Jones-Mahal' this season.

What was the atmosphere like? There was no game on when we were there but we had a look round the stadium (just from the outside) It looks like a big old concrete bowl which has been made to look a bit dated by a lot of the newer stadiums. Instead we flew up to Oakland for the day (another big old concrete bowl, not bad when you get in though) to see the Raiders v Bengals. That suited me fine as the Bengals are my team.

Good luck at Six Flags, I have to admit it's not really my thing 8)

Atmosphere was very good considering it was a pre season game.

We were sat next to a couple of old guys who were Chargers fans, and they did say that the crowd was bigger than for most regular season games. As I said before there were a lot of Cowboys fans which probably added to the Atmosphere.

It wasn't like a Town pre season game, where nobody really seems to bother too much.

So you are a Bengals fan eh.
Good luck with TO, although he's usually OK in his first season.
My brother is a Bengals fan, so if you are going to Wembley you might spot him, he will be the other one with a Bengals shirt on ;)

T.O will be just fine 8)

I have to say, I thought the Bengals were surprisingly well represented at the last two Wembley games. I can't be bothered with this year's game. Broncos v 49ers doesn't really appeal. I'm hopefully going to NYC for the the Jets game at Thanksgiving which will be rather awesome if it comes off.

Enjoy the rest of your hols 8)

Broncos certainly appeal to me, being a fan and all that! For the neutral, its just a battle of two poor teams. Was thinking of taking my boys, however, the cost of tickets and travel is prohibitive. We'll watch it on the box instead.

How long does each game last? I read somewhere there is actually only around 15 miutes "playing time" with the rest being taken up with teamtalks, replays, cheerleaders etc? I might be completely wrong.

That's the thing. When it's so expensive and it's on TV anyway, it's just not worth it.

It's actually 1 hour of playing time (4 quarters of 15 minutes) but with time outs and other stoppages it takes about 3 hours on average. It can get a bit annoying at times but at least you do get a full hour's play.

Where is Valencia, other than Spain?

If the Six Flags there is anything like the New England one, and you like rollercoasters, you are in for a treat.

Eat a light breakfast.

Valencia is North of LA near Santa Clarita.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is (or was) the Theme Park with the most Roller Coasters of any park in the world.  So Yes we like roller coasters.

We have (on this trip) been to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk & Knotts Berry Farm, and after tomorrow we are also going to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (in Vallejo).
