Title: Free broadband?
Post by: blinkpip on Friday, August 20, 2010, 18:54:56
I just had a Talk Talk chap knocking on my door to inform us that the broadband is now free in our area? Is it scam?

He didn't ask for any details, and told everybody on our street.  :hmmm:

I don't think it's a scam, but I think you'll find that in order to get free broadband you will also have to have your phone calls with them and tv package.  My mother in law either had someone knock at her door or ring her the other day.  It's pretty much the same as we get with sky.

Count yourself lucky, he must have left the machete at home

TalkTalk are the most hateful company ever. They would have to pay me to use them. And I'm serious. No amount of savings can justify the fact they have no customer services, as such, and really couldn't give a toss about you should you have problems.

I am inclined to agree on all points

there's always a catch.
that said i'm with them and pay around £20 a month for phone and broadband.
had plenty of issues with them in the past, but have had months and months of freebies due to complaining.

On a more general note, dont trust anybody who comes round your house selling something and promising the earth. I have been stung before switching my leccy to Eon or some other fcuking company.
Thieving koonts, the lot of em.

My policy on door to door is just to say "I am not interested thank you" before they can get the first sentence out. Double glazing, energy, Johos, I really do not care. They always looked confused that they have not even been able to start their patter.

One got as far as saying "so you aren't interested in saving money then?" last week. A reply of "no, I already have shedloads" sent him on his way.

I was with Talk Talk for a couple of years and was always having reliability problems with them and their tech support was just awful telling me everything I already knew.

Moved to Sky and have had no problems whatsoever

Back in the mists of cyber time, I signed up with NTL, because the internet connection was free, if you took phone and tele......this seemed like a good thing.

A few years down the line...I pay 37 a month for some apparently top grade Virgin thing. It just sort of happened...
