I remember the game at Exeter last season and the loud cheer that he got from the crowd. It seems that he was a popular player at all of his clubs. Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 17:49:15 Sad news. RIP.
Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: leefer on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 18:14:09 Shocking and sad.....remember Stelling on Sky would say Lisa(Stansfield) will be happy after Adam scored....three kids under the age of eight as well.

RIP Stanno. Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 19:10:45 Awful. Just not right at all.
I guess Jeff will do a little tribute on Saturday. The 'Lisa Stanfield' line among many other running gags are why I love that show. Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 19:35:58 Very sad. Saw him play against Chippenham during his Elmore days and many times during his professional career.
After finally making it to the 3rd tier of English football he looked very comfortable. Tisdale got the best out of him. Although he was without doubt useful, I always got the feeling he had to really work hard to get to the level he reached. He was a genuine fans favourite at Exeter, it's a great shame for them. Then you think of his young family, that's the real tragedy. RIP Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: joteddyred on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 21:42:56 Absolutely awful. It must have been fairly advanced when he was diagnosed, because bowel cancer usually has good survival rates if found early enough. Unusual to strike someone so young as well, which makes it all the worse.
RIP and thoughts are with his family. Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, August 12, 2010, 10:09:52 Exeter's game at Dagenham on Saturday has now been postponed due to the death of Stansfield.
Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: fittons_coaching_badge on Thursday, August 12, 2010, 10:41:33 Interesting to note, no black armbands or a minute silence at the England game last night.
I may be in a minority but what a disgrace and I hope the FA hang their heads in shame! Especially these days when it seems just about anyone gets a minutes silence or black armbands! Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, August 12, 2010, 10:47:31 Interesting to note, no black armbands or a minute silence at the England game last night. Fully agree on that. Saying that there has hardly been anything in the nationals about his death. Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: pauld on Thursday, August 12, 2010, 10:49:45 EDIT: Wrong thread, thought you were talking about Liebherr. Doh!
Title: Re: Adam Stansfield Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, August 12, 2010, 10:58:06 Interesting to note, no black armbands or a minute silence at the England game last night. I may be in a minority but what a disgrace and I hope the FA hang their heads in shame! Especially these days when it seems just about anyone gets a minutes silence or black armbands! Very sad news...but not sure I agree with that. Across the 92 clubs, there are probably something like 3,000 registered players. Sadly, one or two of those players are going to die every year or so. Law of averages. If Adam Stansfield had played for England, then certainly a minute's silence at Wembley would be appropriate. But he didn't. He played for Exeter, and they will almost certainly honour him there. Unless we want to turn every international game into a memorial service for whoever involved in football passed away most recently, it's not really appropriate I don't think. Maybe not a minutes silence then but surely black armbands would have been to much work for the poor sods! A little respect please! Though I seem to remember a game for a premier league team a few years back where they had a minutes silence because the managers dad had died ........ bizarre! |
