I hope this isn't as stupid as it sounds.

I am watching youtube and the volume isn't loud enough on my headset. The youtube volume is at max, the headset volume is at max and the PC volume control on the task bar is at max.

Surely, considering this is a computer, there must be another way for me to turn the volume up a bit more.

Is it a shared speaker out/headphone out socket, or are they different sockets?

Not sure what you mean. But the headphones are currently plugged into where the speakers are.

surely you have a headphone socket?

Or sometimes there is a setting in the control panel sound options to say what is plugges in (headphone or speakers). Then the amplification is changes accordingly.

In XP:

- Control panel
- Sound and audio options
   - Volume tab
   - Advanced button
      - Speaker setup -> stereo headphones.

No idea about Vista/Win 7

 

There is only one available socket young David. I have to unplug the speakers to use the headphones and vice versa.

I have actually just swapped headphones thinking that maybe the headphones where the problem, but the other ones are also to quite whereas they never where before.

Some gubbins has happened in the PC itself I reckon. What, I don't know.

another odd question, do your speakers have a headphone socket and/or volume control on the actual speakers?

Of course they have a volume control, but no headphone socket.

Anyway. I have just tried a different youtube clip and the sound seems fine.

It seems as though I am just listening to a particularly quiet clip and my buttons don't go up/move enough to compensate.

How to fix it?

It's not that big a deal.

It's be nice to know though should I need it in the future.
