Title: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: magicroundabout on Monday, August 2, 2010, 16:04:40 http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/8307622.BREAKING_NEWS__Town_sign_Ferry_and_Caddis/
Quote SWINDON have this afternoon completed the permanent captures of Celtic's Simon Ferry and Paul Caddis. The duo have both put pen to paper on three-year deals and could make their debuts in Town's League One opener at home to Brighton on Saturday. The deal is believed to be worth an initial £350,000, which could eventually reach almost £600,000 based on appearances and the team's success. Personal terms were agreed over the weekend, and the pair passed their respective medicals at the County Ground today. It is unsure at the moment whether either player will be involved in tomorrow night's pre-season friendly at Poole Town, but they will be unveiled to the media at lunchtime. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: BANGKOK RED on Monday, August 2, 2010, 16:15:49 About fucking time, what took them.
We really needed a full pre-season out of this two but no, the board made us wait and now they go into the squad without the chance to gel. No word on the Bolton lot either, pull your finger out Fitton. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: suttonred on Monday, August 2, 2010, 16:17:02 Well Ferry doesn't have to gel, and they are as fit if not fitter than ours already due to playing in the states, can't see it's a problem.

I havent seen much of Caddis, but I think Ferry is a top top top player as is Cuthbert, hopefully Caddis is just as good as these two. Good hungry and also young players, 3 year deals as well, sweet as... We are almost there imo, 3 more things to do before we have a top 4 squad. The first one being get Cuthbert to sign an extension, second is get Dossevi signed up and 3rd well you know. What a midfield we've got. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Barry Scott on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:10:32 Now we have to worry about playing these players. Do we rotate Ferry and Prutton? JPM and Caddis? Do we play Caddis and JPM on either wing? Do we play caddis at RB, or LM? Or JPM at LM and Caddis at RM? This is exciting! If we put JPM at RM, Caddis at LM, where are we going to play Ball?I think Ferry will be used as an impact player, and lets be fair it seems Prutts isnt shy of a crunching tackle or two so there could be a few suspensions that need filling. This is a good day! :D Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: STFC_Gazza on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:23:15 Ohhhhhh you cant help but get a little excited! :D
Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Sippo on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:23:25 It's great news, and looking back at this time last season, our squad is scarily good. Strength in Depth. My only slight concern is CB, but apart from that, we have the players that can really achieve something here. Obviously, expectations have now risen and I hope fans don't get on players back straight away. Oh and fans getting too carried away before a ball has been kicked- Gazza...
Anyhow, I don't think Prutton will start, and Manky, unluckily/undeservedly, will also be dropped. For me: GK: Lucas LB: Rose RB: Caddis CB: Cuthbert CB: LJF RM: JPM LM: Ball CM: Dougie CM: Ferry CF: Togo Man CF: Austin Unless Danny plays Ferry on the Left, ball upfront? Or Ball doesn't start, and Pericard does?? Oh this feeling is good... Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: DV on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:24:47 I doubt he'll play Ward...

Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Nijholts Nuts on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:31:47 Whoever starts, we have a fucking good bench that contains players who'd be well in the first team of lesser L1 teams. I think its what we were missing last season, squad depth and any players off the bench that could change the game. Pericard? No. O'Brien? No. Timlin? No. Easty? Maybe.
Its just a bummer we cant field a team of 15 then we could play them all. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Benzel on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:35:20 The first thoughts that came to this Swindon fans mind:
Hope the board know what they are doing and not risking the club future will these cash buys. I heard the Celtic pair have come in on top money. I love to go up but I don't want to risk the future of the club if we fail to get promotion. Don't get me wrong loving all the new signings and think we gave a great chance... this year. But it not like your find an extra 5,000 people turning up each week if we are doing well. I just fear for the club if the money men walk away!! Staggering really. They're also on 9k a week according to this bloke. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: suttonred on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:37:44 More than James at City? I think not.

I recon they've probably just split what was going to be given to Paynter (to make him the top earner) between the two, and then the club would probably have some left over. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Summerof69 on Monday, August 2, 2010, 17:43:23 Not a chance we're paying anything close to £9k a week for anyone. Fully agree. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: magicroundabout on Monday, August 2, 2010, 18:51:11 troble we have now is we have these top players but not all will play every week.
Unless. Ball/Austin up front which will leave Ferry, Prutton, Douglas & JPM for midfield. can ferry play on the left? Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: STFC-4-LIFE on Monday, August 2, 2010, 18:58:18 McGovern can play on the left, Prutton can play on the right which means Ferry & Douglas could play in the centre.
Caddis can play at right back. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: DV on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:02:02 I'd certainly play Ball upfront instead of Pericard.

Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: DV on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:11:42 if i were picking the team.
Lucas Amankwaah Cuthbert LJF Rose JPM Prutton Douglas O'Brien Ball Austin that team almost picks itself. Hard decision to play Prutton ahead of Ferry. I stuck O'Brien on the left because he's a left winger! I've heard Caddis can cover all these positions but I have only seen him play wide right once, on TV. He can play left wing I'd play him over O'Brien. I think Ball would be wasted out wide. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: magicroundabout on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:15:26 jpm on the left with prutton on the right and thats my team. O'Brian is a decent sub but not a starter imo
Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: carbonwhite on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:17:25 if i were picking the team. i would agree with that team i cant see ferry or caddis starting saturday, would probably come off the bench for the last half hour depending on how well were doing.Lucas Amankwaah Cuthbert LJF Rose JPM Prutton Douglas O'Brien Ball Austin that team almost picks itself. I think Ball would be wasted out wide. i would give o'brien a go because he deserves his chance he has come through pre-season healthy so lets give him a chance. if someone was going to lose his place i think it would be manky cant wait to see JPM and Caddis whipping in the crosses from the right side BRING ON SATURDAY :beers: Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: DV on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:18:19 I'd agree but he's our only left winger.
I did debate playing Caddis right and JPM left - but I think its stupid to take the best and most creative right winger in the division and move him left. I've no doubt he would do a decent job but if it isnt broke. Plus he and Manks link up well Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: herthab on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:19:36 O'brien won't start.
Squad player at best. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: carbonwhite on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:21:30 O'brien won't start. we havnt seen a fit o'brien yet so i wouldnt rule him out. unlike preicard whos had enough minutes over 20 games and still has nothing to show for itSquad player at best. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: leefer on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:22:46 I dont think Ball will start either.
Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Summerof69 on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:27:31 I dont think Ball will start either. I think he will. The side that started against Forest (except for Charlie starting) will be roughly the starting 11 for Saturday. Whether Ferry and/or Caddis will come in I do not know, but it's a nice dilemma to have. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: RobertT on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:30:56 Hasn't Ball pretty much exclusively played left wing in pre season, and didn't Wilson state clearly that he wants him to play that position to keep him away from the ugly side of League one in the centre?
He may be listed as a forward at Man City, but he's still young and learning, meaning he'd probably be just as effective out wide given his technical ability. Ward was hardly ineefective was he, and Wilson see's similar traits in the two. He also seems to want someone upfront with a bit of presence to let Austin play off. I'd see Pericard as starting or Dossevi if he signs. Looks to me that Ball will be essentially wide left for us unless injuries or a lack of form upfront push him inside due to necessity. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: penhill red on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:36:06 I think Danny will use Tuesday nights game against Orient to field a much changed team, to ease the dillema (albeit a good one) a bit. Against Brighton I think it will be mainly the line up that started against Forest.
Lucas Amankwaah Cuthbert Lecsinel Rose J-P Prutton Douglas Ball Austin Pericard Would expect Ferry and Caddis to appear if winning towards end of the game. Against Leyton Orient; Smith Caddis Morrison Cuthbert Lecsinel J-P Douglas Ferry O'Brien Austin Dossevi (if signed, if not Ball) Or something similar to the above, whoever performs better in the games I expect to keep their place for the game against Hartlepool. I don't think Ferry or Caddis would walk into the team. Prutton and Amankwaah both played well against Forest, Big Kev's link play with J-P is immense at times. My prediction is against Hartlepool Ferry will be in the starting eleven with Prutton, Douglas, J-P and Ball in a five man midfield. Austin up top on his own and Amankwaah to keep his place ahead of caddis who will have to make do with being a super sub for a while :hmmm: Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: leefer on Monday, August 2, 2010, 19:38:08 Hasn't Ball pretty much exclusively played left wing in pre season, and didn't Wilson state clearly that he wants him to play that position to keep him away from the ugly side of League one in the centre? Big spending swindon town apparently! It's in a poor state the SPL... Just look at St Johnstone, they've signed Sam Parkin and Scott Dobie, who are pretty much out of their depth in League 1 these days. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: stfctownenda on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 08:36:03 I am really surprised how many don't include Caddis in there first 11, with all due respect to Big Kev he is not as good as Caddis. In Caddis we are talking about a player who ran Hinkel close as Celtics first choice right back last season, Caddis didn't come here to sit on the bench he could of stayed at Celtic for that. Caddis is a very talented player, ask most Celtic fans and they rate him higher than Ferry and Cuthbert so him playing for us this season is a mouth watering prospect.
Both Wilson and Fitton deserve huge thanks for the ambition they are showing, we add couple more squad players and I think we will give anyone in this division a run for there money this season and automatic promotion is a real possibility. Hibs losing 3-0 to Slovenian opposition and Celtic getting spanked by a reasonable Portuguese team shows how bad things are up there. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: london_red on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 08:45:14 I agree, think Caddis has potential to be a big player for us this season but would expect Kev to start against Brighton as I imagine Wilson will want to give Caddis a bit of time to get to know the players and the system etc...
One thing these signings do give us is so many more options to rotate players, especially given Caddis' postional versatility. Being able to give the likes of Douglas a rest in some games will likely be possible this season, hopefully leaving them fresher for the run in if it's as tight as it was last year. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: Ginginho on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 08:55:45 I have never seen Caddis play and know nothing about him other than he's small and Scottish.
It would seem he's pretty good by all accounts, but we all know Big Kev in assured at right back and dangerous going forward, so i'd pick Amankwaah over Caddis at right back to start with. Title: Re: They've signed - Ferry & Caddis Post by: DV on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 12:03:11 I am really surprised how many don't include Caddis in there first 11, Probably because none of us have seen him play. I think he's been bought in as a winger, personally. |
