Substitutes: Phil Smith (GK), Callum Kennedy, Charlie Austin, Sean Morrison, Michael Timlin, Billy Bodin, Will Evans, Alan O'Brien, Nathan Thompson that 11 looks like a potential starting 11 against brighton - if you assume austin was dropped for dossevi to impress... i wonder if ferry or caddis would walk into the team if/when they sign this week. I assume Austin isnt starting because he will against Poole. Ferry and Caddis are two quality additions. I also like how not, it seems we only announce deals when they are done. The trialist looks about 100 times better than Pericard and couldn't really do much more. Not sure if he's fully match fit though as looked a bit tired towards the end of the half. Could be worth a punt, have to see what Wilson thinks. On the other side I'm trying my hardest to like pericard and he's done some useful linking of play at times but he is just zero goal threat and does stupid things, he's definitely not a 1st choice striker.
Other than that Ball is playing on the left wing and looks a like for like replacement for Ward... Fast, direct and likes a shot. The rest of the pitch is much the same as last season, Prutton looks good and rose looks relatively solid. Central defence I'm still not sure at times it looks fine but there does seem a lack of a leader back there and a bit of confusion at times. Promising on the whole though. Pericard was off the pace and looked a bit shit really, still hope he comes good. Douglas/Prutton looked good in the middle and Ball was lively on the left. Not a bad game really, for a friendly. Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Barry Scott on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 17:04:02 Best things about that game for me were Rose and Ball. (As well as JPM still being fucking ace since his revival.)
Rose seems a much better player than Sheehan. He doesn't aimlessly knock the ball down the channels, but looks to play it to someone's feet and can dribble as well. I thought his play was really refreshing for a left back. Ball looks like a carbon copy of Ward. He runs around alot, likes to run at people and seems quite 2 footed, he was certainly playing good passes with both feet. I also think he's a better dribbler than Ward and for a striker playing on the wing, he seemed to be everywhere - he works his bollocks off. Dossevi looks the real deal, but then so did the last frog striker, whose name I've forgotten, that arrived with Lex. He seemed at times to try too hard and chased back alot. I'd be worried about that in the league as his tackles (all from behind) were often reckless. I suspect that was just trying to prove himself though. At 31 he's not really your stereotypical Fitton or Wilson type player, so he must be rated quite highly or something. Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 17:04:38 razak?
Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Sippo on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 17:06:34 Oh and another thing, I hope Morrison doesn't start at CB. He always looks to play it long...
Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Barry Scott on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 17:11:21 razak? Yeah, Razak. He really impressed me and he ran around alot with some rash challenges thrown in for good measure. Dossevi does have something though. He seemed very Drogba like. Strong, powerful and seems to look to find space - be at on the shoulder, dropping deep or drifting out wide. Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 17:13:00 On the thisisswindon site under the match report someone said "just heard danny on bbc swindon and he said ferry and caddis wasnt 100% that they will b coming so bit worried now"....Anyone shed any light on this?? If that's all some people have got to worry about, then they're doing well ::) As others have said, the players simply need to have their medical and then they can sign on the dotted line just like every other transfer in the history of the game. That's the only reason it's not '100%'I expect some of the pricks on the Adver forum will be saying something like, "Oh fucking hell Fitton, why do they have to take a medical? They both played the other day, just sign them, you're wasting time" or something along those lines. Pricks. Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 17:14:08 Forgot to mention, we should've had a blatent pen after 5 mins when Pericards shirt was pulled as he was going up for a header, and Forest's first should've been disallowed as the ball was still moving rom a free kick, when it was taken.

Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: chalkies_shorts on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 18:04:11 I enjoyed today's game. There were lots of positives and some negatives. Prutton looked very good in the 1st half, less so in the 2nd before he got subbed. Ball looks a tidy player - definitely more Ward than Hutch. Dossevi looked a good player - in the right place for his 1st and a cracking header for the 2nd. LJF looked bloody good in the centre. JPM and Douglas were good. Now for Rose, a great cross for the 3rd but I thought defensively he looked shaky and easily beaten for their 1st, which was a carbon copy of an earlier move. He does offer a lot going forward and I think he'll be a good signing but defensively I'll reserve judgement. Thats one negative. The biggest negative thuogh was the stick Pericard was taking from fans around me - give him a fucking chance and if he's no better in 3-4 months time then fair enough. Also their no 12 was very good at running thruogh our midfield and defence.
Overall thuogh well worth a tenner and I'm feeling good about this season. Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Barry Scott on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 18:17:06 brighton beat aberdeen one nil Pah, Forest are a far better team. 8) I'm excited about Brighton now, really excited. I hope they miss Greer and Brez, although if we sign Dossevi, I'd have loved to have seen him against Greer and Brez with JP's crosses. I think Doss' would win by a large margin! Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Lumps on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 18:29:49 Pah, Forest are a far better team. 8) As they improved hugely after signing Ifil I think that's a fair point. Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: Processed Beats on Saturday, July 31, 2010, 19:04:23 I found today's game quite enjoyable. Okay, the atmosphere wasn't there, and some twat had decided to bring a drum, but i thought we played reasonably well against championship opposition.
Lescinel was outstanding today, especially against Adebola, who is a bigger unit than Pericard, and much more of a force. Lecs won near on everything in the air, and some of his tackles were superb. Cuthbert likewise coped well with that little cunt Earnshaw. Special mention to Rose who i personally thought was motm, defended well, got forward and played to pass rather than succumbing to long balls up to Pericard. In midfield we were okay, Douglas was his usual self, and Prutton looks a quality aquasition. JPM was also very good, but we've come to expect that of him now. Ball played extremely well on the left, even more so for a little front man. He was calm on the ball, and i particularly liked his effort to keep a stray ball in play early on in the match ... with it only being a friendly and all that! The trialist looked rather good, a Pericard-like player, but with seemingly more skill, and he was definitely more desperate to impress today. Took his second goal, the header, very well indeed. Pericard disappointed me somewhat, althought probably deserves a penalty in the first half. Aust also looked very sharp when he came on. Overall, a decent friendly performance against good opposition. Lets hope for more of the same next saturday! Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: phelpsieboy on Sunday, August 1, 2010, 07:12:43 Lescinel was the best player of the game, won everything moer aless, and one of his tackles in the second half in our penalty area was pure class, i think he will definetely come good, and he is well deserving of the Haitian being out up. Dossevi looked the real deal, fast pace, good head, bit of an allrounder, i think he can flourish with Austin, fingers crossed we sign him up !

SHAUN TAYLOR on Sunday, August 1, 2010, 18:49:26 Well I suppose he'll play Austin, Ferry, Caddis and Devossi...that's no too bad four days before the start of the season. When they announced when the game was going to take place it was never going to be a full first team squad.

I quite agree, tho considering the quality of player Town got, although they didn't realise how it would go at the time, a Saturday game with a decent squad should have been the least they were thinking of. I'm not complaining and I'm really looking forward to it, but think a bit more thought on selecting the date might not have gone amiss Title: Re: town v forest matchday thread Post by: leefer on Sunday, August 1, 2010, 19:00:41 I quite agree, tho considering the quality of player Town got, although they didn't realise how it would go at the time, a Saturday game with a decent squad should have been the least they were thinking of.
