Title: Who's backing Austin to be League 1 top goalscorer?
Post by: Spy on Friday, July 30, 2010, 17:54:19
I just put £20 on it on the Coral site at 20/1. Returns would be £420.

I thought if i used my £10 deposit then I could use the £20 free sign up bet on it as well and bump up my potential winnings to just over £600 but I forgot you don't get the free bet til the initial bet is settled.

I want to that's for sure. Pretty good odds for it as well. Might stick a tenner on.

I think it's cos he didn't play a full season last year. If he'd played a full season he would have scored more and the odds wouldn't be so good.

Cheers Spy, been looking at doing this bet, but was going to do it on William Hill at 16/1.

So I have done:

£5 on Charlie Austin top scorer - 20/1
£5 on winning league - 20/1
£5 on getting promoted - 13/2

I was very tempted to back ball but the 6 month loan and the couple of injuries he had put me off.

I just did because I like things like that. Currently Betfair won't give better than 1.01 as I've just gobbled them all up in case they're never that good again! These were my bets.  :toocool:

Hi Stef...i presume the last bet is for 1-2 only.....seems abit strange each way with only second place?

Yeh each way 1-2   1/3 odds.  Think Swindon will come above all the above teams, but if they do come second, at least i get my money back and make a little too !

did similar bet last year when the teams and odds were as follows

Swindon 10/3
Hartlepool 7/2
Leyton Orient 7/2
Walsall 4/1
Stockport 5/1

Good on you....but maybe with the extra you forked out on the each way it would have been better having a hundred on Town and another hundred on another team....but what do i know!
Best of luck.

£200? Fucking hell! Maybe it's because I'm not a gambler, but all my bets are for £2-£4! Fuck losing anymore than a night out's worth of change. :D

I'm going to the bookies tomorrow. £10 on promotion and £10 on Austin. Will I regret this?

£200 is a lot, but if he does start scoring the odds will drop and there will be potential to lay part the bet off for guaranteed profit/no loss.

It's the one thing I regret about not doing the same with Simon Cox the season he finished joint top scorer. I just didn't have the money to put the initial bet on I wanted.

Unless Austin gets injured, i can see him being up their as one of the top scorers in the league.

I think our acquisitions this year should help his game, and he is one of those strikers who will score 7 goals out of every 10 chances presented to him.

Will have to assess the situation in January however, as if hes lurcking near the top of the scorer charts, then no doubt some struggling premiership side or top end of championship side willl have a punt on him.

Like si pie said however, i can always lay the bet off on betfair once hs odds reduce
