:D thats all they need. They learn slowly in Bristol it will be like when they signed Marcus Stewert a few years back after his legs had gone. They were paying him £20 grand a week whilst he was sat on the bench on loan and Yeovil. David James legs and brain has gone.

David James is far from past it. Hate to say it but that is a fantastic signing for them.

Its what they call a marquee signing

I agree with DRS, great signing for City.

James can kiss his England career goodbye now though. Although I suppose that's a good thing in a way.

Lack of ambition from James?

I am a bit jealous. If I was a City fan (and I know quite a few) I'd be well chuffed.

Quality signing in my books, all of a sudden Rovers fans think hes shite, what a supprise.

This must've taken some seriously hard work and perhaps liberally throwing about the Pounds to get him to sign. Surely a premiership club would've wanted him or even a large Championship team? Cracking signing regardless.

They must be well pleased i know i would if he had came here,He's still looks in good shape despite his age but im a bit surprised he did't stay in the premiership tho,Surely blackpool or someone could have matched the slave traders wages.

I think thats a great signing as well.

The only worry would be he had a fair ammount of injuries last year but I'm a bit dubious how real some of them were - a case of pompey not having to pay large appearance fees perhaps?  When he did play though he's still premier league quailty.

I bet they have to splash a good few quid on a signing on fee and wages

However good he is, I would still think its the end of his days being Englands No.1

At least Joe Hart should get given a run in the team

James lives in Devon and apparently didn't want to move.

Shitty was the only local team to come in for him.

Great signing for the slave traders considering they had Bread Van on trial versus Ajax last pre season!!

I bet the former number 1 keeper is pissed off.

I took great delight on telling my two Celtic supporting Jock mates that they had been snubbed for City.

As much as i dislike City, it really is a quality signing and signals the intent and ambition by their board and management this season. With Coppel at the help, i'd be very surprised if they didn't make Play-Offs at least.

MEh, never got why James went from clamity to suddenly being Englands #1 overnight. He didn't get much better.

That said, he has a year or two in him and he is a good keeper who will also make the odd clanger. But this is the Championship, not a bad move from City.

Great signing for slavers, could still get 3 more years from him as he has very high fitness levels.

Great signing, surprising as well.

If I was a City fan I would be a bit concerned on how much we're splashing out on his wages, but I would be well chuffed.

Probably because he wasn't actually as bad as people made out.

Many don't consider Swindon as the Westcountry.

I'm wondering whether the light drizzle in Durham at the moment is in fact the fallout of ejaculation that has exploded from South Bristol today.

My good lady sent me an excited text. I reminded her how often she's slated him over the years.

I was saw David James in a Market in Plymouth, true story.

I remember Shaun Taylor smacking one through his legs when he was Watfords goalie, he kinda stopped it then it squirmed into the net, was that the one?

I was at the 2-1 loss to Watford (with James in goal for them) during the tailend of the 90/91 season.

That was an early Glenn Hoddle game wasn't it? Maybe even the first at the CG or him at the ground waving, can't remember.

Post by: Summerof69 on Friday, July 30, 2010, 19:10:27
I remember when he first came down to the CG, and he conceded 3 goals all from corners.

He kept at flapping at them then, and he still flaps at corners now.

I remember him waving at a Mitchell diving header - one of the best goals ever at the CG.

When we lost to Watford at home that day, I genuinely thought we were relegated. Watford were fs and James still had the piss taken out of him back then.

Well I (as some others have alluded to) still think of him as Calamity James. That, combined with the fact that they must be paying him barrow loads of money, would lead me to question how good a signing it is.

I'm pretty 'meh!' about it. And that's not just because it's the Slave Traders.

We shall see just how good a signing it was as the season unfolds.

We've got to stop this agreeing mallarkey - its not the natural order of things. Now to get us back on track Murray is a Jock cunt.

You're right.  It was a shit goal.  Andy Murray is ace.  I actually prefer Scottish people to English people.

If I remember rightly, in that game, we had several well placed freekicks, which we tried some elaborate Glenny training ground routine, all of which led to comedy.  Watford got one late and I think Nigel Callaghan just lashed it in.  Jason Drysdale may have been playing for the Hornets.

Probably a bit early for Mooney....David Byrne was kicking around, as he scored in the draw at Vicarage Road.

Certainly got around abit....technically along with Danny Williams and Andy King are the only three to have managed The Town Twice in our history.

I don't think he's on much. Lives down here in Devon, Chudleigh to be exact, and has said he wants to finish his career  playing for either Exeter or Plymouth. This bridges the gap until he's ready to make that step down.

I don't think he's worth that amount of money. There's a limit to how much influence a keeper can have on a team. And I just don't like him. Not impressed.
