What has been the best grub at an away ground.

I'm going to say St. Andrews - it was the first place I had a balti pie. :mrgreen:

I take the line that food at away grounds should be avoided  if at all possible......occasionally through circumstances you're left with little option....such a scenario led me to chance a balti pie at Walsall....thinking its always worth sampling local produce......it was cack.

The thing with balti pies is that the spice in them masks how crap it really is, so is the safe option as far as I'm concerned.

I concur though Reg.  Food at football grounds should be avoided if possible.

Balti pie at Wrexham.  The season started really well with that pie, then we went and lost 2-1...  :?

Also the pies at Chesterfield were ok. I had 2 and got called a fat bastard eh Whits!!!! :twisted:

An Elland Road burgur for me.
But I do try and aviod food in the ground. Usually a nice local chippy before going into the ground

only thing i had there was beer  :beers:
never forget that first CC game there. (not just because of Robinsons header either DOUFC) but 2500 fans singing none stop for 120mins

oooh yeah the food outside the ground was the best at elland road!!

Northern food always seems better to me

fish and chips outside Old Trafford (after we played them in the cup) was quality too.

Outside ground = Meat pie, chips and gravy from Macari's at Old Trafford.  Went to see the England v Wales game there and it was fantastic.  Meat pie is pork pie though, just hot.

the burgers at Franchise were minging! thats the only time i remember getting food inside a ground. other than that there's a chip shop near wycombe's ground thats always good.

Best pie I've had was at Burnden Park before the legue cup semi 2 leg v Bolton. beef & onion, nicey crispy pastry.

Lamb and cabbage pie with new potatoes. With six pints of lager. At huddersfield last season. But of course, I had corporate tickets.  :wink:

It doesn't sound great I know But I tell you, that pie was fucking good.

I'm sure the lamb would rescue it.  Lamb is great.

i dunno for best food....city is rubbish though! County ground isn't bad, the bacon rolls!  8)

Elland road burgers were nearly as bad as Franchise.

Not had much experience, but Hot Dogs at QPR were good value as footy grounds go as they were huge and tasted pretty good too.

 There's a really good chip shop, just at the foot of the hill from Saltergate..get some chips go and sit in Queen's Park dreaming of the summer sound of leather on willow (Derbyshire play there)....all is well with the world.

  I know it has to happen, but it'll be a shame when Chesterfield leave Saltergate.
