Why oh why did I read the comments?

God some people are really fucking thick. They are blaming Fitton now and the club saying we are not offering enough and to pull their fingers out? Well the whole point of negotiation is to get something for a price you think is fair???? Fucking Spastics.

I don't understand why they allow comments to be made, why don't the Adver just disable it?

It's understandable the the worriers are showing a little bit of concern, I don't agree with the scale of panic that the Adver is conjuring up though.

As far as we know, there are no more suitors so it's just a case of sorting the fee and other incentives for Celtic.

However,  fitness levels aside, it's always worrying to see Celtic select Ferry for fixtures where it's a safe bet that he's going to look great, Lincoln City being that match.

I bet it's very rare in the history of transfers that the first bid has ever been accepted by a selling club.

Close season Fitton says that we need to get the players in earlier to get off to the best possible start, but its the same as last year. Ideal world you have the squad together to go away to Austria and bond, no denying that, yet we're still what 5/6 players off the squad Wilson has said we need. It frustrates me how long these things seem to take. I'm content with the three added so far but the squad is weaker than the squad we finished last season with, and as a fan all i want is progression year after year, at the moment thats not happened. Fingers crossed we get some positive news in the next couple of weeks.

I would take all these stories as a pinch of salt, the media dont know what's happening any more than we do, well at least most of them dont. will happen when it(if) happens, no point getting worked up.

Exactly Sutton.They are getting the same story from the same sources that said we had the offer accepted last week.

At the moment, it's far too early to tell, the squad isn't complete and the season hasn't even started yet! We can, however, judge on last season when we at this stage of proceedings we were weaker, we had exactly the same kind of panic as expressed above and we definitely progressed then on the year before. Bit early to be breaking out the nervous nelly pills

The adver may well have it right. And i'm a worrier. But i'm still not concerned at this news just yet. If transfer deadline passes even then we have the loan market on a "loan with a view to a permanent deal" possible. Its only when fitton says its dead in the water i'll be concerned. But we aren't stupid enough to have no plan b. It just won't be as good as plan a, obviously!

I just love reading some of the OTT comments on the Adver website some people are just completely clueless about football goings on. 

Thank fuck they're not running the club.  I bet half of them were probably on the old STFC Diamandis board as they were clueless too  :D

We're in the market for very good players, which will take time and patience. If we wanted crap we could have done 10 deals, which wouldn't have got us anywhere. The market is slow anyway, and the only team that has really strengthened is Huddersfield who have got in early and paid top whack. Will it do them any good? Didn't last year! It will all pan out in due course.

Exactly, players dont have set prices so its all about negotiations.  Whatever we offered them wont be the the max we are prepared to pay for them it will be a starting point, now we go back with another offer, thats the way these things work.  At some point there will be a final offer and if that isnt good enough we move onto other targets that DW will already have identified.

That's a great point.  Some clubs are able to bring in players quickly.  However, it is more difficult to bring players in if they are rated highly - the selling club, in this case Celtic, know we are talking about good players, so won't make it easy for us.  It does show that we have made progress - I don't think that a couple of years ago we would be looking at players of this quality.

I'm worried that we haven't got a striker yet...or was that last year?

I read that expecting to see some sort of Geraldfest, but thought, with the exception of one or two most of the comment was reasonable.

It's always worth taking STFC transfer talk with a hint of scepticism, until such time as the  scarf appears above the head.

I'm confident that we'll end up with a squad which is stronger than last season. However, I do think it's reasonable to be a little concerned that we may not have additional players for a few weeks yet.

My main concern is not with central midfield, but left wing and up front. As it stands we're going to be relying on Ball to at least cover both roles and given Pericard's and O'Brien's tendency for injuries this should be a concern. Right back is a little concerning too if I'm being frank, but we're not far from having decent cover in all positions and a better strength in depth overall.

I think it's important to really hit the ground running this year if we're serious about promotion. With the squad as it is we should do that, but a couple of injuries and we could struggle to begin with again.

It's unfortunate that just like footballers, a large % of football fans are thick as pig shit.

Sheff Weds signed a few, now they are having to offer up players to get some cash in to pay the tax man.  Other than two clubs with some money, nobody has signed players that would make me worry anymore about them this season than we had to last season.

Anyone remember a centre half who left here recently, can't think of his name right now, but I seem to remember it tooks weeks of no offer, offer rejected etc before he left us for what would seem like the sort of fee we are starting off with for two quality players combined.  Oh, and Torres is 100% going to be a Liverpool player in 12 months and Ronaldo's overtures from Real Madrid have been knocked back for a second succesive summer by the resolute Man Utd board...oh.

Actually, I just endured the comments, not as bad as I was expecting, but what was the plank on about with the buy Danny Ward comment - what the fuck goes on in schools these days.

Yeah, I guess once you got past the first 2 or 3. I still think we'll get them in some capacity. But I guess being rebuffed at the first bid is something you have to get used to if you want to buy quality.

You dont go making offers at the top end of your budget straight away.

The bit that surprises me about this story is that it appears that they've knocked back the opening bid yet I thought it had been lodged some time back i.e June.

Not worried though, they'll arrive in good time.  We just need to wait for Celtic to register their players for the Chump-ions League and see where the land lies.  Hopefully no injuries so both will be deemed surplus to requirements.   

Seeing as the story was first broken by Scottish papers I'm guessing a deal is there to be made and it is coming down to agreeing a fee, with Celtic trying to increase the price possibly by alerting other clubs to their availability. I'm still confident a deal will be done, the money is there and we'll most likely offer a hefty sell on percentage like we did with Cox.

I've read the whole thing... there seems to be at least five different people who are absolutely convinced that Brighton will sell out the Falmer every week.

I fucking hate Brighton with a PASSION! It's only recently that i've built up such a hatred for them....not becuase they bought Greer from us - If selling Greer means paving the way for Ferry and Caddis, then what a great bit of bussiness! But it's more to do with their dumbass fans! "Ooo look at us, we've a nice new stadium, which we'll fill week in week out now because we have such awesome 'loyal' supporters. This also means that we're gunna be fighting for a promotion spot despite our shit season last year...."  :gay: Dicks...

Didn't someone post a table based on results for the second half of the season?  Pretty sure Brighton were a top 6 club and it was only a disappointing start under Russell Slade, and a slow start under Gus, that prevented a much better finishing position. 

Maybe so, but they still finished 13th(?).......At one point we were one of the top two in form sides, but we finished 5th. But i'm more annoyed at their arrogance, which rivals the Leeds fans, despite being a tiny club.

I think Brighton will do well this season.  Apparently they've signed a very good centre half.  As just mentioned, they were very good in the second half of last season.
