Title: The Black Samsung Kit
Post by: DiscoDazR on Monday, July 26, 2010, 14:40:35
Is it going to be our third kit and if so, any idea when it goes on sale?

Ah cool. In the meantime I think I'll buy a black t-shirt and paint Samsung on it....because A: I like the new kit and can't wait until November, and B: Coz I can!

The official site has it listed as the "cup kit". Hopefully that doesn't mean worn at home for cup games...just away.

I expect it will be home games too sadly. I get the impression the board sell our kits to potential bidders as follows

HOME: FourFourTwo for a certain amount
AWAY: EA Sports for a certain amount
THIRD: Samsung for a certain amount

I cant see Samsung sponsoring it when it may not ever be warn. Say we go out in the first round of all the cups at home... I hope I'm wrong though..

I still think we use a third party supplier for our kits as the badge isn't embroided on. I'm sure the majority of the clubs, apart from top flight, use third party suppliers.

I think it's not embroidered on because it's cheaper to make this way.

A lot of clubs get their shirts from abraod as well. Like us with Lotto and when they tried to embroider the badge it looked shit, and was missing half of it. I prefer the iron on badge, atleast it looks decent. Newcastle get their new shirts from Puma and the badge looks shit on there.

That's because of where they've put it - in the middle of two stripes, so they had to give it a white border which looks shit.

I would've thought it will also be worn at Exeter and Soutampton, where the home side will play in red and white stripes.

Not stripes, but Bournemouth play in red and white too, might be worn there?

It's not embroidered on because the FA and The Premiership got all the needles. That's where most of the pricks are in football.

Well, when they're being sold at retail for the knock-down price of 38 quid a pop, you can see how they'd need to cut corners. You're probably right though

I was in the club shop today and spotted a load of new 3rd kit shirts hung up behind the counter.

Very very nice indeed, but unfortunately not for sale...!
I assume they were players shirts ready for printing names/numbers for the JPT away fixture with Saints.

Have to wait until November to get one..!!

Last seasons 3rd shirt was limited to something like 200 but it was so popular they had to getting more in

I don't get the limited edition thing. Why sell 200 if you can sell 400? It's the only kit I'd be interested in buying, and if I can't get hold of one the club is missing out on their share of the £35+ I'd be paying for it

Why dont you just head on into the Club Shop, use some of that charm with the girls and I am sure you will get some kind of special discount.

I was told only 200.

Realistically though, surely the club'll want to sell more? More sales = more profit surely?

They said the blue 3rd kit was 'special' addition last season with 'limited' numbers.

It was popular, they got more in.

A few years back when we had that horrible black and mustard away kit, we wore a one off white one away at Bournemouth - it wasnt going on sale, there was demand, in the end it did.

Found this on the OS. 400 shirts only, and club red members getting priority.

"The third shirt is a limited piece and there are only 400 available. These will go on sale to Club Red members first and on general sale thereafter."

http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2153495,00.html

Not sure I see the logic in club red members getting priorty over full season ticket holders myself tbh. I didn't buy a home shirt this year as was waiting for this black away one, so guess the club don't want to sell me a shirt this year?

They have to find ways of promoting the membership, and to boost numbers, the best way to do to this is give customers certain benefits.

It's free to join for season ticket holders anyway. If it bothers you that much, fill out the form and sign up, cost you a minute of your time

Oh bugger. Oh well in that case, rant, rave, rant, I demand the right to be allowed to pay over the odds for a very thin piece of material with some sponsor's logos on it ahead of everyone else etc etc

Likewise. But buggered if I'm paying £25 for the honour of spending another £40!

The prices of all the shirts and kits this year are ridiculous.  I'm sure I paid £35 for the home kit at the beginning of last season for my 6 year old and that was the whole kit as a set.  This season, you can only buy it as individual items and the cost of the shirt, shorts and socks together is £58.99.  I honestly don't know how they can justify it?

Title: Re: The Black Samsung Kit

I'm failing to see the thinking behind this ltd shirt/club red thing. The market's there, the goods aren't. I can see people being mugged at away games for their shirt*

* They fucking will be if I can't get one.
