Title: Glastonbury Post by: nochee on Monday, June 21, 2010, 22:12:46 Im heading off tomorrow night, sleeping in the van and doing my best to get a prime pitch on Wednesday.
Someone in our group is taking a big ol marquee/tent called pyramid palace. If anyone spots it and fancies a bevvy and a smoke come on over. The weather is supposed to be glorious for the entire week, shall i risk not taking wellies? Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: westcountry on Monday, June 21, 2010, 22:14:49 take wellies , it's glastonbury.

Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: oxford_fan on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 10:09:54 Setting off 5am Wednesday... can't be bothered sleeping in the carpark Tuesday night! surely a contradiction there though an extra night of decentish sleep is probably the better option, hope you've got your airbeds Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: nochee on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 10:21:32 Where will you be camped ? I'll look out for the palace Absolutely no idea mate, its my first glasto (apart from a 12 hour jolly 10 years ago) Ive seen pics of the palace and its pretty big and on the edge of a walkway........somewhere. Look out for a short chubby guy asleep and dribbling with bits of sick in his hair. Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Phil_S on Monday, June 28, 2010, 11:22:00 Muse were bloody fantastic imho. Fantastic weekend, only slightly marred by the england result
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: LucienSanchez on Monday, June 28, 2010, 11:34:00 Another good one... although i do struggle with 5 days of sun without washing! Biffy Clyro on Saturday was my highlight, and Jamie T was also excellent. I also enjoyed Delphic, and the Black Keys were a close second behind the Biff. Amazing live band.

Agree about Jamie T he had the crowd going mental by the endTitle: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Nomoreheroes on Monday, June 28, 2010, 18:28:42 So where is the Stranglers review?
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Monday, June 28, 2010, 18:32:22 there was a bloody awful one in the guardian today
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: LucienSanchez on Monday, June 28, 2010, 18:49:50 So where is the Stranglers review? The songs i knew were good... musically impressive, and a good voice on the singer. Excellent version of "All Day and All of the Night", which was my personal highlight of the set. I don't really know much of the Strangler's apart from the obvious 'hits', but they kept my concentration and kept me entertained for the full hour, so i'd say it was a sound job. Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: nochee on Monday, June 28, 2010, 18:54:37 Stevie Wonder was A-MAZ-ING!!!!
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Lumps on Monday, June 28, 2010, 20:02:33 Muse were bloody fantastic imho. Fantastic weekend, only slightly marred by the england result Am I the only one that doesn't get Muse AT ALL? Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Bogus Dave on Monday, June 28, 2010, 20:04:21 Nah, I don't understand the hype
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Monday, June 28, 2010, 20:41:22 a shit pretentious queen, and i fucking hate queen

SUPERMASSIVEBLACKHOLE Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, June 28, 2010, 20:57:05 Like a few of their songs, but on the whole I find them a but meh and annoying.
And what the fuck is this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX_QoisjBQ0&feature=related Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Bogus Dave on Monday, June 28, 2010, 20:59:22 Muse are shit, sort your lives out
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 28, 2010, 21:00:40 I liked their early stuff. Can't stand the new stuff though, it's just a load of pretentious noise.
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Nemo on Monday, June 28, 2010, 21:03:48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99I7gpswhQ4
I really can't see what's not to like about that. Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: flammableBen on Monday, June 28, 2010, 21:05:39 yay, glastonbury means 3 new Adam and Joe podcasts. I'm now happy.

Some funny tablets and odd tasting powders could explain some of it tho
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 08:35:18 I fucking hate them, awful. They sound fine, until that guy starts singing. They butchered Feeling Good and it sounds like he's having an asthma attack with those annoyingly loud exhales. I think they're fucking awful too. I fucking love Nina Simone and anyone who manages to ruin an amazing song that badly should be killed. (When I eventually lose the ability to control my desire to murder, they're top of the ever growing list.) Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 09:12:59 Muse songs are only good in Twilight movies!
Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Nijholts Nuts on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 09:33:10 Like a few of their songs, but on the whole I find them a but meh and annoying. Should be a crime to cover The Smiths, no one Ive heard try to has pulled it off. Just stop. And what the fuck is this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX_QoisjBQ0&feature=related Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 09:36:31 Like a few of their songs, but on the whole I find them a but meh and annoying. It's a great cover. Also, the cover of feeling good is superb, better than the original. And what the fuck is this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX_QoisjBQ0&feature=related Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 09:42:40 Also, the cover of feeling good is superb, better than the original. Holy moly, musn't-take-the-bait. Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 10:07:38 If you don't think that's a good cover, there's something wrong with your ears. I think it is one of the best cover versions ever.
To cover a song from a completely different genre and make it sound so perfect, to the point that no other version sounds quite right in comparison is incredibly rare. I would've though that even people who don't like Muse would appreciate they did an amazing job. The Nina Simone version is not the original anyway - this is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW4fE2x1hxk and it's no way near as good as Muse's version. Saying Muse butchered that is like saying Hendrix butchered all along the watchtower Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Saxondale on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 14:09:44 Holy moly, musn't-take-the-bait. Leave it Rich, he's not worth it. Come on we've all had a drink lets just leave it. Title: Re: Glastonbury Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 14:34:07 Had a corker. Weather was superb but in some respects it was too hot, which made coping with hangovers from the night before a real challenge. Waking up at 7am with condensation from your own beer and red wine induced sweat dripping down on your forehead is not pleasant.
Highlights have to be Snoop Dog, Gomez, Faithless and Ray Davies who was fucking superb. Lowlights were MGMT who were abysmal. |
